three important offroad rules. 1) put it in 4x4 before you think you need it. 2) air down your tires before you think you need to. 3) use low range only as a last resort when in soft sand or soil as POWER can be your enemy if you don't have a hard surface below the soft stuff as you will only dig yourself deeper. get some maxtrax boards and a good tire guage as they are a lifesaver

Hey Ethan! A great story this week. The sunset views were fabulous. I love your attitude. Glad to hear it’s *only* anxiety. As a former RVer I suggest you get a shovel, a trowel (like used in gardening), some of those traction boards, and maybe some cheap racks (from Amazon) for dishes, glasses, etc. so things don’t shake, fall over, or fall out of cabinets. AZ is a beautiful state. Loving all of your adventures! -G

As someone who's done a lot of backroad travel, may I make a recommendation? First of all, get some doormats thick door mats. Make sure you park evenly on those secondly, carry a large bag of clay cat litter. That'll solve a lot of problems. Hope this works for you

Getting stuck in the sand - or anywhere else -is stressful, yet you also were in control enough to bring us along (videoing) the event. Your adventures and misadventures, bring out your sense of humor, (or borderline panic?) which is fun and entertaining. Remember, there was no blood, no accident paper work, just a lot of dirt, you had good news at doctor, introduced us to a new in city park/camp spot, shared a few moments of self-care ;) and such a lovely view it is (for us - lol).... think it kinda balances out. As always, best wishes in all your adventures.

Dealing with anxiety sucks. I used to worry about everything. A couple of things I learned to do was expect things to work out in the process of doing things. I was worrying about what might happen and quite often it didn't happen so I worried for nothing. When something happened and it at first seemed overwhelming I got the attitude to say I wonder how I'm going to get out of this problem.
I was a truck driver for over 40 years so I am sure I had my share of mishaps. On one of my very first trips I went to Memphis TN. I didn't know where the terminal was so I asked another driver. He thought it would be funny to give me bad directions. I got totally lost at 2 AM in the city. I stopped at a red light and this man got out of his car in front of me and asked if I was lost. He then had me follow him right to the terminal.
Another time I was picking this special trailer up at Camp Pendelton in California. I even had a security escort. It was a Friday evening right at 5 PM. I broke down right in Camp Pendelton. Friday Night at 5 PM is actually the worst time for a trucker to break down. I called my company and they just happened to have another driver just a few miles away to retrieve the trailers the security guy was not delayed hardly at all. Then the security guy told me they had used a wrecker truck when they brought the trailer in because the guy bringing it in got stuck in the sand. I called the guy and believe it or not he was just coming up to the exit as we spoke so he towed me to a repair facility and he charged me only $147. I was expecting three times that much. Then I told the facility the repair should be covered under warranty and they said it wasn't so I had to come up with $3500. I got the money and finally got a load home where I talked to my truck dealer and he checked and it was covered under warranty and I got all my money back.
Sometimes if I am really worried about something and I can't sleep I pray and give the problem to a higher power. I can not explain how that works but there are a lot of things that I do not understand but it does. The right people pop up out of nowhere or an unexpected check shows up in the mail. It has happened so many times it can't be a coincidence. Just make sure you are always trying to do the right thing and be a good person. That is kind of the key when it comes to divine help.

Also, thank you for supporting cancer research. It was due to fairly recent research at the time that I managed to survive cancer (and the aggressive chemotherapy). My first time traveling across country was from Cape Cod Massachusetts to Arizona. In Colorado I parked overnight at old mine. It started raining, I awoke in a panicked (there’s a back story), when backing up to turn around got stuck in a ditch and my van at 45 degree angle-had to slept that way. It cost me $300 to get towed out. The tow guy was awesome. He offered me breakfast, introduced me to his family, and his three horse. Later a farrier arrived to shoe the three horses (my $300 well spent). I asked If I could stay to watch. By the third horse the farrier asked me if I wanted to help. ‘Sure!’ “Just talk to the horse while I work.” Twenty minutes past, he turned to me and asks, “What are you doing?” Somewhat defensive I replied, ‘Just talking to the horse, why.” (This part always stirs up my emotions) He say, “This horse is the hardest of the three to shoe, it usually takes me over an hour. I’ve already shoes three hoofs. Whatever you’re doing keep doing it.” What a rush. I went from feeling like an idiot because when I got stuck to I’m now a horse whisper. Closing tip; When your tire gets stuck like that cut mesquite branches (mature trees only) and stuff them under the tire. Worked for me. Peace!

Hey! I'm anxious too. I once woke up in the middle of the night with certainty that I was having a heart episode. But, luckily, earlier in that same week I had myself checked by a cardiologist who said I was with a healthy heart. So I knew it was anxiety. I know exactly how it feels. Good to know that you are getting help. It sounds "silly" when one tells it, but it's not a good thing to go through. Best of luck, Ethan! ❤

Ethan, use your 4x4 drive, make sure the front hubs are in "Auto" and just leave them there, it won't hurt it to stay locked in, then just engage the system from the cab. You are better to turn on anytime to you think you may need it then to wait until your stuck and then try to use it to get out, an power is your friend, your truck has lots of power, but if you are spinning your rear wheels you are just digging holes.

It’s great to see that you share the fact you have anxiety. In fact most have it to a degree in one way or another. We just have different ways of dealing with it and how much of it we show others. That’s it’s not a tabu is important. If it was up to me it would not be any different than any other condition that someone have to live with - it just is, and nothing to be ashamed about.

The unexpected mountains behind the hill were just spectacular. Wow. Really glad you saw them and the colors of the place are something to take in. The rabbits were a cool surprise , too. Thanks for noticing them. Each time a challenge occurs, you figure it out and you always will. The great thing is tat you do it solo, and of course these are new things each time, so it's a learning curve. Take stock in the knowledge that you are always able to get through it. When something comes up, take a few minutes to focus, but in a calm, zen way. You'll be less stressed as you get better at the game, but do a "I've got this even though I don't know how" inner look before you tackle it. "Ive got this."

Anxiety started when I was 21, and never left me... I have had different symptoms since then: heart palpitations, stomach aches and acidity, nausea, insomnia, blisters on fingers... You're in good company. Intelligent people cannot avoid anxiety: it's life.

Again, a view into the life and experiences of a very considerate young man who enjoys exploring the sights in our country. Some years back I got my car stuck in sand alongside the road at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There was no place to pull off the road except for sandy/sand covered roadsides. As luck would have it, a guy who was an insurance agent from my home town who happened to know my family stopped by chance and helped pull me out of the sand. One would never guess you suffer from anxiety by the amazing resiliency you demonstrate in handling the difficulties you encounter in your travels! KUDOS to you Ethan! You are amazing.

Always enjoy seeing you Ethan, glad you're well and living the adventure when we can't. Anxiety or not you exude a comforting realness that keeps us all grounded together in hope, faith and love for ourselves and one another too as we work it all out.

Loved this vid with those amazing views. The crocs in the shower are perfect, I know exactly what you mean. It's great to hear how you support the cancer research ideal (currently dealing with chemo and immuno myself), this support and everyone else's will hopefully ensure a cure one day for all cancers, both in humans and animals. PS I think you need a fold up spade, easier on the hands.

I traveled Arizona years ago. It is absolutely beautiful. I didn’t have a camper. I stayed in various hotels. Doing what you do by yourself is really brave. Please keep making videos. Thank you. 🙏

You are definitely one of the most adventurous person I’ve seen so far! How I’ve dreamed of traveling the USA in my old jeep, but working on fixing it up at the moment. I send you positive vibes and thoughts for all the unknown and unexpected events. I wish you well in your travels and adventures! I will be keeping up with your videos now
