the single funniest thing in any Rammstein video is when Flake rolls down the window and sees how big they have gotten, the look of disgust on his face is hilarious. I love this song, was sad they removed it from the stadium tour shows
As a German I am astonished how perfectly you picked up on the meaning as well as your translation.
They described their indifference to everything once they've reached their pinnacle of popularity, sales. They were sated of everything, had achieved everything... And suddenly found themselves at the mountain top, with nothing more to achieve, nowhere to go. They felt they had done everything they had set out to achieve at some point in their past. Suddenly the passion had gone out their lives. This feeling of emptiness, coldness, darkness, that nothing really gives them happiness anymore. That even the bodily pleasures of food, drinks, drugs, sex... Everytime they used it for short term pleasure, instead of finding happiness, they took another step down into degeneracy. So they portrayed themselves as these massively obese, world weary men, who wanted to reunite once more, trying to relive the passion of the old times, hoping to find that lost spark.
What they did find that they weren't able to keep up with their former selves, and almost had a seizure or heart attack when attempting to relive the old glory days.
That's my take on the interpretation of this song. So I believe we are very similar in what we get from the potential message of the song.

Yes, that's right...but you know that "Rammstein" doesn't necessarily say everything about their song...and that they often have several meanings...In the first analysis, this video shows us very depressive and decrepies, who are on the verge of collapse... unfortunately there are more and more people like this in our time (also, deadly obesity is clearly shown here)
"Rammstein" wants in my opinion in this way also to show a dramatic fact of society of our time.

This is probably my favorite Rammstein song. Musically, it's extremely simple, but damn it's so effective on the beat.
Rammstein's song are all very simple. It's all in the arrangement, production and, of course, Til's voice that makes them so powerful

When I was in depression I've found this song click in an unexpected way. Looked at the lyrics and one day thought "funny, that's exactly how I feel like". Later on I was diagnosed with depresssion and treated it, so I can say that I've kept and fixed my life partially because of this song

@@jaimemurillo2152 went through with treatment and got rid of it mostly. I'm not perfect still, but it seems to be psychological rather then biochemical

This group is really not a simple band .... but much more: great artists !!
This is my favorite song by them.
Musicaly is a blast and the lyrics portrait a lifestyle of apathy which is becoming a problem in modern society.
Video is also great as always by them. The ending is brilliant since the keybordist stands up from the wheelchair but nobody notices.
They return to their seperate, dull, safe, luxury lifes. So kalt....

For one, your german isn't as bad as you claim, you were quite on point. Next , translating a Rammstein song is always tricky, because they use figures of speech, that don't translate very well, especially not if you slightly modify or twist them.
My point of view on this is: When you hear a song and it does something to you, your mind, your thoughts or your emotion, that part is yours alone and the next person might experience something entirely different, which is theirs as well.
The entire point of reaction videos is, that it gives you something extra, an alternative perspective or new insight and that is precisely why Rammstein are perfect for this specific genre, because there is always something new to find in their art.
I think it's about the topic of being fed up, meaning after many successes you're fed up, out of ideas, burned out. It probably reflects how they felt after their first big success.

Music transcends the boundaries of language. Thanks for translating! Having listened to just two songs of Rammstein, they remind me of Red Hot Chili Peppers, though not too sure. Another meaning of "cold" can also be death. "The body is cold" can mean the body is dead, but even if a person seems cold, then they are dismissive - just one of many more possibilities - and Rammstein plays with all of them!

Such a simple riff, but it's so heavy.
That is basically Rammstein as a whole. They never have these crazy guitar solos etc. but still make amazing songs often with simple riffs.

Yeah Rammstein is more of an introspective band than you would think as for those who can't catch German when they start to pervue their catalog , but watch a bit and you can catch on quick , as for their introspection of things or those that know i remember when they got like arrested in Yekatinburg and escorted out of the country two weeks before 2/24/2022 maybe they were afraid they were going to perform something ?! , first sign that something really was up , freedom was gonna be gone , . As for their "Amerika" we here in America really like it even though it makes fun of us and some of the things conveyed does need to be taken seriously , but yeah we dance a few steps Living in America , Living in America and laugh a big grin usaully with beer and BBQ at weekends or July 4th yeah us Americans can have a sense of humor and mad crazy pride too but with a sense of humor and gratitude that we still here and maybe a bit above halfway right sometimes for us regular folks the people

I believe this all the drummer fault, lol, Christoph Schneider proposed this idea after the band took 4 years off I think it was, anyway he said they be to fat and lazy to return to touring etc..and like all good ideas it took off and here we are..love this, one of my fav's ..wish they do it live again..nice reaction, more please
