When I look at this level - Ah, a store.
When Controlled Pairs looks this level - Just from a quick glance at the two parked cars outside we can know that there may be civilians inside, one probably being 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a small dog, maybe chihuahua guessing by the condition and wear of the tires, his mother's maiden name is Mariah and his dad is of 1.9% Brazilian descent...

You can plan for branching or conditional changes rather than linear planning. If A then B. But it can be B1, B2 or B3. And B has a threshold of which is met and limit of which it is halted. For example, when deploying snipers they could be in a observation role or shooting role. This is entirely conditional. The emergency commander might set the limits due to other factors. But a branching option might be that if a guaranteed hit opportunity presents itself during an immediate action assault then take it. Or during a deliberate action, a sniper-initiated assault might occur. Some food for thought.

@@ControlledPairsGaming As far as I know, you can only pause or continue and adjust. And the sniper cannot be automated. I was just ranting about how you might plan in your head for actions (situational planning) on rather than the movement plans they have in the game.

Things like how to use all the different classes effectively, while at the same time explaining how they’re relevant to real life. I think that would be very interesting to watch.

I had some thoughts on your approach and can't withhold myself from sharing them haha.
Cameras are a great tool, but I personally wouldn't use them anymore after having made contact. You've lost the element of surprise, so my instinct tells me to get a move on.
At 4:12 one of the unarmed contacts runs outside and some person (can't really say who) yells "They're here". Meaning you've been compromised.
Is any unarmed person considered a civilian? I'm a little bit surprised you let the contact run behind your back without paying much attention to it.
Of course the threat inside seemed bigger and it still is just a game, but I'm just asking purely out of interest and not trying to judge your methods of approach.
4:50 you called it. It's a huge risk, A reckless or even smart combatant, would've put some rounds through that door and it would've resulted into a casualty.
I don't think the game has this feature, but it would be nice if they added something like that down the line.
I'm aware that CQB is very dangerous. You could be doing everything perfectly, but still take casualties.
At 5:50 you used the camera again and I wasn't expecting you would. You've gained information about the inside of the room, but people can constantly move around. So I'm kind of confused at this approach rather than just busting in as soon as possible.
8:20 beautiful reaction to the barricaded shooter. I was kind of looking forward to you dealing with it, but the shooter got a bit too cocky and ran out of cover.
A game mechanic I never really liked is that your mission is finished once all shooters have been taken care of. Leaving some rooms uncleared. I get that from a game standpoint, that's more interesting to most people. But I never like to leave rooms uncleared.
I'd like to repeat that I'm in no way trying to judge your approach. I'm merely an enthusiast and am more than happy to learn a thing or two. I have no experience on the field, just in games :)
Definitely looking forward to your next videos on this game.

@@fireline2545 I think what you're describing is a crash action or immediate emergency action which is what to do during a contained scene hostage rescue when a trigger point is reached (which is usually to make entry and clear the structure as fast as possible). Also, good point on the mission just ending even with uncleared rooms.

    • @fireline2545

      @@ryean1_aus Thanks for the info!
Yeah, it's something I noticed during playing the first Door Kickers game. Kind of wish they didn't bring that to the second game.
In this case he had the advantage of the targets being pretty much locked inside the building, giving the operators time to advance.
But you never know if there are any secret (or even obvious) escape routes.
In the end, there's never THE way to clear a building.
It all comes down to preference and the safety of the operators should always be high up on the priority list.
Just like to discuss these topics to see people's opinions or views on the case. :)

    • @basedeltazero714

@@fireline2545 "Cameras are a great tool, but I personally wouldn't use them anymore after having made contact. You've lost the element of surprise, so my instinct tells me to get a move on."
It's certainly debatable, though I tend to err on the side of using the camera. On the one hand it definitely slows you down and gives the enemy more time to act. On the other hand, you've lost the element of surprise anyways so taking time to set up instead of rushing in can be worth it. Moreover, the enemy has likely moved to actual combat positions rather than where they were originally, and the risk of stumbling into a room full of guns pointed at the door is much greater. It also (as with the initial cameraing) allows you to avoid wasting grenades on empty rooms.
If you do use the camera though, it becomes doubly important to post security on the doors. Losing dudes because someone opened the door they were spy camming is... common and annoying. In a way it kind of depends on how the enemy responds - if they seem to be hunkering down, using the cams is helpful, if they're moving to counterattack/execute hostages/flee to the Bahamas/whatever it's counterproductive.
As a final note, carrying spy cams means you aren't carrying a different tool. Having only one cam guy for initial observation and then not using it means you can bring more breaching charges or nades or whatever. And of course I'm coming from Door Kickers 1, in which you had silenced guns with which you could clear a room without even alerting the guys next door.
"Is any unarmed person considered a civilian? I'm a little bit surprised you let the contact run behind your back without paying much attention to it. Of course the threat inside seemed bigger and it still is just a game, but I'm just asking purely out of interest and not trying to judge your methods of approach."
In game, no, any unarmed person is not necessarily considered a civilian, insurgents can start out unarmed and pick up weapons from the environment (or fallen insurgents?). However, you automatically know which targets are civilians and which are hostile somehow. Your soldiers won't shoot at a civilian, even if they get 'surprised' or in other situations that might be ambiguous IRL (such as a guy making a very poorly timed exit from the store) though they _will_ shoot at an enemy behind a civilian, which can end badly.
Interestingly in Door Kickers 1 the 'They're Here!" shout didn't actually indicate the enemy as a whole knew about your presence, it just happened the first time an enemy saw you _or_ you shot an enemy (see aforementioned stealth weapons).
"the shooter got a bit too cocky and ran out of cover. "
Or realized you were going to frag and tried to charge and take out at least one of you? Not sure the AI is actually that smart, but it's plausible both in and out of game.
"A game mechanic I never really liked is that your mission is finished once all shooters have been taken care of. Leaving some rooms uncleared. I get that from a game standpoint, that's more interesting to most people. But I never like to leave rooms uncleared."
I'm pretty sure the idea is that well, what's going to happen is that you'll clear the remaining rooms and nothing interesting will happen no matter how you play because there is no threat. I guess there's the possibility of accidentally killing a civilian and/or hostage?

I think what I like most about this so far is how quickly you adjust the plan to enemies doing things you didn't expect. Immediately followed up by working on regaining the initiative. It's something I had a concept of, but not actually being trained, had no real idea of what it looked like in a (sort of) realistic depiction.

a good tactic in this mission is to bring some Stinger non-lethal grenades.
when you locate the civilians, throw a couple of Stingers near them and they will flee the building in panic when they blow up.
it does not always work though, sometimes, the civs just stays suppressed where they stand, stunned from the Stingers if they land too close to them.

In game, as it stood at the time of upload, and still stands at the time of writing this comment? Also ignoring the fact there is an unobstructed window on the North side of the building he could have utilised to deploy handheld devices through?
Stand-off, an L-shape, as well as correct positioning of both team members.
The guy providing coverage for the guy setting the slap charge should have been on the handle (South) side of the Western door, and the guy placing the charge should have been on the hinge (North) side. That would allow the guy providing coverage the opportunity to stand off about 9 feet at a 30 degree angle to the handle of the door, while putting the breach placing operative in a position where if the door opens, the person providing coverage doesn't have the door's opening obstruct his fire, and the door itself would provide a certain degree of cover for the operative planting the charge. Then IF the door opens, you can fire through the doorway immediately even before the enemy combatant is in the doorway, without the now open door obstructing your fire. The 30 degree angle away from the wall also provides enough of an angle to work with initially, leaves him close enough to the wall to dart into cover if needed, and he can step out even further from the wall to 'earn his shot' if necessary.
      To clarify, his mistakes were:
      - Putting the covering troop on the hinge side of the door,
      - Not providing enough stand-off distance,
      - Not holding an angle where he could see even 6 inches into the room which allowed an enemy to step through the threshold and position himself directly between the team-members without being exposed to fire,
      - Putting himself at a 180 degree angle opposite his explosives technician such that if an enemy were to succeed in stepping through the threshold, which they did, you're forced to direct firepower directly towards your own team-mate.
Honestly, if over-pen was a thing in DK2, he'd still have committed fratricide here due to high velocity medium calibre rounds at point blank range usually going straight through a person and not magically stopping.
In real life? Breaching charge on a long pole pressed to the door past a ballistics-shield operator at the head of the stack would likely be optimal.
