Rib Roast on the Orion Cooker!!

  • Today we tried a Rib Roast on the smoker. It took longer than expected but turned out very good! Next time I will cook it to 125 for the internal temperature instead of 130. A little more "rare" would be great.

    I always light the top first on mine because the heat from the bottom actively burning raising the temp to an uncomfortable level for lighting the top after the bottom 😂 also the "Meater" brand works well for Bluetooth meat probes

      Oh also have you tried their new grill top attachment? I just bought one and man oh man it's awesome!

      That makes sense lol, then you dont singe the hair on your hands.
      I bought the "meater" and it wouldn't stay connected while I was cooking. I'm going to try again and see if it's better next time.
      I'll have to check out the grill top, that sounds cool.

    Did you get a charcoal taste? I'm thinking about next time I use the cooker, I will light the coal first in a chimney, the put the coal around the base?

      No charcoal taste at all because all the charcoal is outside the smoker and cooks using indirect heat.
      I did see a video where the guy used a chimney to light the coals first. Seemed to work good.
