That old “galvanized wash tub” was abandoned in the attic for a reason! 😂 You should have kept it but not as a basin , in time I believe it will begin to rust when exposed to modern detergents
Well the cardboard box for the toaster wasn't going to hold any water was it!!! Haha! It's only a hand basin for a downstairs loo mate, it won't have any modern detergents in it, only a bit of soap! I think a lot of people on here (not you!) seem to think that this is in the middle of my kitchen and/or I've got loads of money left to buy an expensive sink for a downstairs loo that hardly anyone will see! Appreciate you watching mate, all the best.
good move on the tub for the sink, but my thoughts a lovely Belfast sink would look amazing... Front door looks ace too...thanks for sharing your Epic journey..
The large window , brilliant Adam. Such a beautiful view, the autumn colour of the leaves and you will have the beauty of the changes as the seasons change. People pay good money for a framed picture of such beauty and here you have “picture” that will change over 12 months. Love it.
Hi guys love the channel. Place in wolves I use for old Victoria doors. They dip them and removes all the paint with out damaging the original door or frame
A great video showing how to think latteraly with the metal bowl/bucket!! Why spend money when you can adapt and use!!! Well done !! And the door, shows what can be done when something thats old and in need of TLC is treated right!!!!! Pauline said to say a BIG BIG thank you to you for the message, she was gobsmacked when she heard her name!!!! 😍😍😍
The 19th century style laundry wash galvanised tub is usually used with a washboard for hand washing clothing. Might suit a utility room, but whoever must launder clothes is going to want a top-class washing machine too!
Thank you for sharing your incredible home building journey, I’ve found it inspirational. On the 2 November me and the boss celebrated 49 years of marriage - the reason why I shared that is we are moving home and thus your videos help us tremendously. Will I be demolishing our next home? No, but if the move comes off it’s one of those places that will need a lot of work from yours truly. Again I thank you all. Bet you can’t wait until Christmas. All the best Mike
My please Mike! Thank you so much for watching! Congratulations on your anniversary too, that's ace! I hope the move goes well for you both, Mike. Take care.
I'm glad you said you are going to make a bigger letter box, as a postie, I have seen many doors with large letter box flaps just stuck over the small hole like yours.
how is the other job going or is it still at a standstill once that sink passes quality control then everything is good. no point dropping a few hundred on a new one when that will do for a while. window looks good. not much to look at but it will definetly make the hall seem larger and allow more light in . what was wrong with the old door. the pieces cut off looked perfect.
It's not quite at a standstill mate and we have an update coming soon. We just wanted a nicer one mate, we've never liked that one, plus it's not original to the house so it's no great shakes letting it go.
I think the tin tub sink was a great idea. The least beat up the better. A Starrett hole cutter would have done the job. Other feedback is, the shelf could have had more depth to it and the waste trap and waste pipe in chrome. But that's just being picky.
Great exercise in keeping costs to a minimum. A friend of mine had similar plumbing installed in his ute room ( different style of basin though!) He used two of those plastic key ring tabs(red and blue) and hung them off of the taps with chrome beaded key ring chain.
Hello Frazer, absolutely mate. I'm still really impressed by how they look, how easy they are to install and how they perform. I wouldn't tile a wall again if it were up to me.
Morning Adam. Just watched your latest episode. Love that big window in the front, so much light, and trees to look out on, fantastic. Something is ringing alarm bells in my head that your tin bath idea may be a small jest😂, but if not its a very original idea ! 😂. Hope the worktop issue gets sorted, looking forward to seeing that video. Keep em coming Adam, all the best. Graham.
Your view is Only two trees is an understatement Adam,so many people see a brick wall or a neighbour's bedroom. I now live in a house that just has Fields as a view,I couldn't go back to what I used to see out of the bedroom window, maybe if it was X rated 😊
Great job again Adam, and good recycling of an old door, they’re very well built - will be awesome when glossed!! 👌🏼👍🏼 Rich, awesome woodwork skills mate
If I'm honest I don't think the sink or door is very innkeeping with the new modern aesthetic of the house. A nice composite door would have really made the front of the house in my option. But each to their own!
@@Mr_A_Builders I can understand that. It's a shame about the opening being out of square. Of course you have to work with what you've got. Just a suggestion, it might be worth adding a mortice lock to the wooden door for a bit of extra security.
Paint stripping chat... have you tried Biostrip? It's pretty good and not particularly nasty to use. For lots of layers of old paint you might want to whack some cling film over it to keep it moist and active for longer. Good stuff.
Love the stuff you did in this episode. Can't help but wonder if the "boss" signed off on the new sink before you went ahead with it... and how is the heating coming along, is it all up and running yet ?
The Boss was indeed kept updated at all times as per the instructions given! I'm an idiot, but I'm not THAT much of an idiot!!! As for the heating...well...you wouldn't want to ruin the next episode for yourself would you!!!???
The house is beautiful as is the kitchen but the old tin bath for a sink? erm looks like you just ran out of money and had a root around a skip somewhere lol. swap it for a Belfast.
Well, that's very nearly what's happened, Neil! Apart from the skip that is! The recent storms have uprooted my money tree so I've got to think on my feet about a few things and an expensive Belfast ain't happening! Plus, it's a downstairs loo, so, you know, let's not go too crazy with it!
The Stath! How are you mate? It sailed past quality control, not because it's a work of art, but because it's the downstairs loo where hardly anyone will go and she's seen the bank balance so suddenly ok with a bit of recycling!
You're a man after my own heart, 1st waste not wan't not. 2nd innovate wherever possible. really enjoy your banter on the video's too. How are the issues going on the big build? @@Mr_A_Builders
Perhaps 2 coats of clear lacquer on them pipes taps and brackets will keep them looking good for a long time otherwise you will be forever cleaning and cursing , automotive rattle can clear acrylic lacquer clean them before spraying .
🤔reminds me of some wealthy people who employed a top architect to design their extension 🙄 The internal finish was faced concrete blocks pointed in 🤭 Troweled up bonding on the ceiling 😳 Hand made Mexican tiles around the work tops ( they looked like a child of 5 had made them and were all different shapes)🙄 the poor tiler was pulling his hair out. Every time the architect turned up on site he charged £400 a hour , the whole job looked like it was only half done 😀. 🤔 style you just can’t buy it 😉
You have a real eye for the unique. The galvanized tub for a rustic sink is genius! And the door is beautiful!
Cheers pal!

The sink? It is one of those decisions where tactful people say "Well, it's your house" and people who are more honest than tactful plead the fifth.
"This door frame is 60mm out of plumb; that is Ri-diculous!"
Got to give Richard credit for being skilled in his job, how about a recap edition at the end with maybe unseen footage

"What the hell were you thinking" ... my thoughts exactly. You've even left the dent in the back. What did the missus think????
Chill dude, it's a sink, taps and splashback in a down stairs loo that's cost £40 all in. What's not to like???!!!

James Bond 😂 looks spot on pal 😍
Nice one, Simon!
Love your work and sense of humour. "Bucket sink" great for washing down pets, dirty tools and parts👍🥳
A reclaimed Belfast sink would’ve looked nice, I would have used the tin bath for logs by the fire in the lounge 🤷
Slight issue with that idea Brian, I don't own a Belfast sink to use! The whole point is using stuff that I have!
I've seen exactly the same design in a pub but instead of the bucket the used a beer barrel cut in half..
Looked good 👍

It's something I would do but I'm not a fan of all the sealant. I know it's galvanised but I probably would have tried to polish it up somehow.
That's... huge. You could wash a dog in that. I like the industrial look, but I would be forever bugged by how it overhangs the edge.

Hello is back. Like the door, like the window, whole house is looking great, and the sink... well as you say it is your house 🤭😁😁
Haha! Fair enough!
I like the panels, would you recommend them now that you have lived with them for a while?
Hello Frazer, absolutely mate. I'm still really impressed by how they look, how easy they are to install and how they perform. I wouldn't tile a wall again if it were up to me.
@@Mr_A_Builders nice one. Do you have a affiliate link or anything?

Could you not centralise the bolt on the front door and have it in the middle, lovely job on the door.
I could do mate, all options are open!
Looking great 👍
I bet when 'quality control' moves back in, she will beat the pup out of you and insist that you replace the tin sink with a proper one....
Well worth opening the view up from the front bedroom. Why not drop the bolt catch on the front door down so the bolt sits 10mm lower ?
I could definitely try that, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get it off in one piece. It may be safer to just leave it where it is??? Not sure!
i wish we had builders her in Australia like you
No you don't mate, I'm petrified if spiders!
Great progress Adam and Rich. Must be in for Xmas otherwise Santa won’t get to empty his sack
Out of the windows looks like a picture post card!
Looks lovely doesn't it! Hope you're well, Peter.

Cheers mate. There's no way I'm paying over £1000 on a composite door that'll have to be fitted 60mm out of square, that would be horrendous!!!
@@Mr_A_Builders I can understand that. It's a shame about the opening being out of square. Of course you have to work with what you've got. Just a suggestion, it might be worth adding a mortice lock to the wooden door for a bit of extra security.
You should try and put some kind of sealing on the galvanised so it does not rust.

I want to see the ipad in this video 😂. Respect to you guys for the fabulous job you do. 👍
Oh, it's in there alright!!! Haha! Cheers man, have a great day.

Tempted to fit a stair screen between landing and loft? Would pick up some of the great light you've got... as for that view - mmmm
If you could give the sink a copper look I think it would look alot better and fit in more
But overall its a neat way of utilising what would be scrap

It would be nice to see a view from outside the house to see how your larger bedroom window looks.
Hello mate, hope you're well. There's plenty of footage of that in earlier episodes mate, but it's not rendered yet so there's not much to look at!
Sorry, not a fan of the sink & tap combo! ☹️
Don't worry, Barry. I doubt very much that you'll be able to see it from your house.
That sink doesn’t look good, thought you were joking at first. Each to their own I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Nitro or sis rubbish to how it used to be because of EU rules on dangerous chemicals. Useless just like gloss paints became.
