  • This Creo Parametric tutorial video explains the core philosophy behind modeling in Creo Parametric: Design Intent. This approach focuses on building additional information and intelligence into our models so that when changes happen, they are propagated throughout the model in ways that we planned for and expect.
The demonstration illustrates Design Intent implemented in an assembly via:
    Notebooks and Declarations
    Parameters and Relations
    Assembly Constraints
    Reference Patterns

Clear and awesome way to explain a very complex concept !! thank you Dave. In the other hand I have a question and a suggestion if you don't mind. my question is about MathCAD calculation documents, is it an efficient way to control and drive design intent similar to what you have shown in this example via a notebook ? concerning the suggestion please, notebook is very useful and I think it would be great if you could make some videos about using it.

I have a few videos on Notebooks in the Top Down Design playlist. Here is the first: th-cam.com/video/hcHeDwg-FiI/w-d-xo.html

I'm a big fan of Mathcad. As a matter of fact, I write PTC's Mathcad blog, which can be found here: www.ptc.com/en/mathcad-software-blog
However, although I find Mathcad great for driving models by engineering calculations, I don't find it as good for driving assemblies like Notebooks. You connect models to worksheets either by embedding them or using a Mathcad Prime Analysis feature, which takes effort to invoke unlike a Notebook. I will be doing videos on both methods.

Thanks! I wasn't sure how well a more "philosophical" video would go over, but I am glad to see that you like it. I will create more like these in the future, and I have another Design Intent video posting in the morning. Thanks again for your feedback, RnioBB!

The Best explanation of design intent. I am a FEM engineer and always cooperate with 3D CAD engineer. I am searching the Creo tutorial to startup with some basic operation on TH-cam. Your video is the map/strategy for me to follow up. Thank you very much!
