Gods, the Sharlayan furniture... One of my friends (who might be a huge troll) saved every wardrobe and cabinet he found in our first couple of trips to Eureka. He said he had a plan for them and I, foolishly, did not get worried. Two days later, another asked me to log on and come save them, as they got stuck inside something when they loaded into the FC house. Turns out the troll friend made a messy labyrinth with them on the whole first floor of our medium FC house, and of course, left no open space near the door. So I came in and freed them, clearing the space around the door, only for the number of cabinets and wardrobes to double and cause the problem again the next day. I picked up and vendored every last one of them, and thankfully he didn't do that again... But to this day, he still occasionally drops a wardrobe somewhere random in the house, usually positioned to look like it's hiding behind something else. I have no idea how many he has left. Does he sneak back in the night to get more? Did he buy extra retainers to hold them all? WHEN WILL IT END?!?!

That feeling when he throws out the tyrannosaur horns instead of selling it to the vendor who stands on the docks directly next to the lockpick. :x For as many horns as you can get from thousands of lockboxes, the 1,000 gil vendor price really adds up.
QoL improvement for me was Cursor Sonar, which is buried somewhere in the keybinds. My favorite thing about eureka/Borja is the fact that once you get strong gear it stays that forever. General XIV has that in the glamour experience, but it itself is also a bit different.

best QoL I discovered semi-recently. Watching this series instead of dragging things from your inventory to the turn in, you just click the turn in then click the thing. changed my life
I prefer to keep inventory in 4 separate panels too. For one thing I always sort my inventory, so I know that weapons are always in the first panel, materials in the middle, and junk comes last. I don't like big windows opening up all the time. Right now the one QOL feature I'm always grateful for is the function to turn off selecting player characters with right mouse button, because I use that button to turn the camera and it's always picking up players at bad times during raiding.
Btw, idk if QOL but learning that the NPC that sells cloaks and osodes by the boxes guy, you can sell stuff to it. Seems much faster than dragging to toss and get “some” Gil doing it. 😅
its super fun seeing cider showcase a different bit of content almost every week, it really shows off just how much stuff there is to do in this game. its mindblowing sometimes.
I deserved this channel about a week ago and got addicted to this series and I've been waiting for a new vid ever since. Love your content, please keep making them. Mad cuz small
Can I just slide in here real quick and say that I really love that you cover up the chat window? Gotta love that respect for other people's potential boundaries. I know I certainly would prefer not to appear in people's internet content, so seeing this makes me happy. There's still respectful people in the world, after all.
Discovered QoL features for me are setting a gil cost limit for automatic aetheryte ticket usage, and the customizations you can do for individual HUD elements. Doing BLU content gives more than enough seals for aetheryte tickets, but I still don't want to waste them on a 100 gil teleport. An easy way to improve my awareness was being able to take just the enemy cast bar, and make it big and bold near the center of my screen. Setting job gauges to Simple is also nice for some classes; something like BLM with all of it's components is fine, but I don't need a big ol graphic for WAR's single resource.
Biggest QoL for me was Alt + chat type (e.g. p for party, f for fc, l for linkshell). Being able to reply and talk in any given chat without having to change chat channel completely was a game changer.
PROTIP: When you open the 1000s of lockboxes, the NPC right there at the pier that sells replica Eureka relics will buy your vendor trash. The gil adds up fast dumping the tons of duplicate furnishings\clothes\crap materia etc.
The best QoL feature that I've discovered is the ability to set an in-game alarm for timed gathering nodes. Super helpful because otherwise i constantly forget.
Oooo man was just thinking what I was going to do while I waited for DnD (aside from farming yokai weapons) and lo and behold Cider descended from the heavens!
Best QoL discovery : the autotarget function, really handy in raids when the boss becomes untargettable then targettable again. You can just mash your GCD like a lunatic and the game will automatically target the boss without having to click it yourself.
@SoraShadowdancer in your gear set menu, you can right-click a gearset (square on PS controller) to bring up an options menu. One of the options should say "link to glamour plate".
Biggest QoL feature for me is... either the massive list of macro popouts I learned how to design, or hold Ctrl to prioritize Aetheryte crystals, to avoid clicking on all the pesky quests when trying to teleport. Or mouseovers for healing to allow for more damage output without having to switch focus back and forth.
Thanks for reminding me that I need to actually do Baldesion Arsenal one of these days. I'll get around to joining a group for that... eventually... My achievements last week: - 80 unique Leatherworker leves and 500 total tradecraft leves - Level 90 Carpenter, Armorer, Weaver, Machinist, Black Mage, and Sage - 500 Shadowbringers A-Ranks - 20 Archaeoskin maps - Desynthesize 1000 items - 190 unique crafts as Blacksmith
Untradeable, but sellable to NPCs. My Doman reconstruction is built from the scraps of Amenos lockboxes.Timber? Recycled wardrobes. Leather bits? Recycled amenos gloves. Cushions? Recycled Amenos shirts. They paid me DOUBLE what the rest of the world would pay. Idiots! (I did not open 2800 lockboxes at once.) The greatest QoL feature is one I personally requested and they added into the UI about a year later. You can sort the list order of your retainers. Now my botanist, miner, and fisher retainer are all next to each other, and the battle retainers are below them.
The courtesy and patience shown by the overwhelming majority of players even when Eureka was new was quite incredible. It really only took a few days for players to understand how things worked, and then set up trains, and comfy shout chat time.
Man I love eureka, It's my favourite content in FFXIV, It's my happy place, when i was in a pretty dark spot, it was the place I went to to take a break, just blowing up mobs and stomping around the maps to get my WHM weapon glam and helping friends through some of the content, so many good times. It's a relaxing place to just unwind, a nice slow pace to do w/e you, no rush to get through things and people are usually pretty chill.
Eureka is my cash register. So many things farmable there that can give you straight Gil, it's great. I do hope the Dawntrail foray brings back some Eureka elements back, such as the elemental weaknesses and buffs. It's cool to be super jacked with the endgame relics in the zone, including the primary arm which gives an elemental bonus. Something Bozja doesn't have as the special gear only gives haste.
i just hope it does something like a NG+ mode where you can reset your level so you can join friends who havent done it before, without having to like, either die a bajillion times, or have an entirely new character. That's what i need. i wish Eureka had that.
@@Xenmaru00 They could have just introduced a level sync to let you level sync down to a friend's level to party up with them instead of nerfing the exp altogether.
@@aznhomig *YES* they could and should have. You're absolutely right. Cause that's what you could do in FFXI. So for something that's a Homage to it why didnt they include that? Shouldnt be *that* difficult since a form of level sync already exists.
I discovered I can remove that annoying "you are flying too high and your mount can't go any higher" sound and message when flying LOL I used to hate that.
+ When trying to teleport to an Aetherite on the Minimap that's covered in quest markers, hold Ctrl. + Blue Mage spellbook pages also save your Cross-/Hotbar for that page, so no need to shove around skills when switching from healer to tank setup. + Enabling 60 fps limit in the system graphics settings also enables jiggle physics.
The best QoL I discovered was that you could type /action desynthesis and you'd suddenly have a friggin interface that targets things for desynth. You can even have it look into the equipment inventory and go from there.
(☘️ here) The most useful quality of life function I have found is Focus Target keybind and Cycle through enemies keybind. I main healer so it helps to be able to quickly target the tank and than back to the enemy.
Biggest quality of life setting? Character based movement! Aka, fuck backpedaling! I want my character to actually turn around and run when I press s, not slowly inch away. I can run at full speed doing wall 2 walls, while looking behind me to see all that angry horde that wishes to eat me! I can dodge gaze attacks by just simply pressing s after an attack, so I have 100% attack uptime while still dodging gaze attacks 99% of the time. Only minor thing to note is that I have long since had the capability to automatically adjust wasd to move in a direction no matter what the camera is facing. So I can swing my camera 180, and my muscle memory just switches from pressing w to s, while not skipping a single step in the direction I was going. If this is not casual muscle memory to you, this might be a bit jarring.
@17:00 Serket’s kinda famous on FFXI for being a big ticket NM. Sadly, NMs don’t have “lore” usually, so these FATE textboxes are an improvement, at least.
Flashbacks galore watching this. Though I main AST, whenever I was farming it was as RDM (or Rez Mage) purely because of potential de-leveling. Can't wait for Pagos and Happy Bunnies! Murgleis is my favorite go to for RDM glam. Gratefully I managed to get all weapons past the Anemos stage, but most are waiting under piles of snow and ice to progress.
I've been on a break from FF14 for the last month or so because I did ALL ARR and Eureka relics back to back (plus some SHB steps). Was a such a fun time doing Eureka. I would also, in your videos, note other items to help players, like Eureka Trackers for NM spawn times. Certainly wasnt fun, after each relic step into a new map, where I had to open ~3-5000 boxes of each zone.
Beat QOL for me (controller user) was finding this macro to set to my analog stick for sprint (normal and pvp) and mount so i can have a free hotbar space now. /mirror off /ac "flying mount roulette" /ac "Sprint" /pvpaction "Sprint" /Macroicon "Flying Mount Roulette"
I like the 4 page inventory too, less overwhelming to look at. My most helpful QoL feature is the double cross hotbar for contoller. Now i can see double the skills and have quick access to 3 hotbars. It made playing a lot easier for me.
I know I'm getting engagement farmed, but a huge QoL I learned about is macros that can enable/disable/fill hotbars. Basically you can have a utility and emote hotbar in the same spot, click a button to show one, click it again to hide, click the other to show the other, etc. Biggest QoL was of course expand inventory though.
The XP bonus potions you brew from stuff given by Eureka lockboxes are quite useful, and also sell pretty well on the market, once you're full elemental level and no longer need them yourself.
The QoL feature I use most is scaling windows up/down for visibility or just a neater appearance. Scaling up castbars as big as they can go really helped me when I was learning to tank years ago and I just kept it so that when a raid mechanic is happening, my screen will be like "yo goober pay attention." Same with debuff bar, scaled up for visibility. Also like simple job gauges for some jobs and the regular ones for others, so I'm happy to have the option.
so for the quality of life thing, it had to have been the materia melders being added before i capped my crafters. before the melders, there was no way to put materia on gear without leveling a crafter. at the time i didn't care about crafting (saves and makes me so much gil now), so having an option to get me more stats and the low cost of 1000 gil per materia was a god send in my eyes. god i was stupid
my fav QOL feature was finding the 'turn off swearword filter' button so i could finally let loose when i roll praetorium in the scenario roulette for the 5th time that week
I WOULD say it was when I discovered I could scroll through the enmity list (NOT aggro) which made grabbing loose mobs in tank pulls a breeze; but sadly I switched to a controller about a month later. So instead I'm gonna say the different VFX intensity settings so I could turn all the alliance members effects off and save my eyes
literally until watching this video i did not know about that open all inventory option. My partner recently taught me how glamour plates work so im finally putting outfits together
Collapsible menus. Everytime I press tilde I have each job, doh, dol, a selection of emotes and mounts pops up. Press it again and it goes away. My screen has never been so clean.
Oh yes, I absolutely would want to click through 4 different pages of inventory instead of clicking once to see everything. Those 10K gil pieces are a common drop from the fourth zone of Eureka if you want to just save up 100 of them and hand them into the Doma donation box for the next 12 months for a free 40K every week.
Best quality of life feature I found was not letting gear go to the armoury chest directly, it instead goes to the inventory. This is insanely useful to keep it clean and it's faster to get to gear I want to desynth, since that's what I do with all of the gear I get nowdays.
Shout out to the Aether Eureka community, never had to deal with such a toxic shithole in this game before, it truly encapsulates traditional MMO gaming in every way
@6:20 Oh the catharsis... as someone who had played Eureka when it was current, when I could go back with all my BA farmed Elemental stat gear to Pagos and take my revenge on those dragons. No, sleeping void dragon, I will not be quiet and sneak past you like a mouse. I will sprint at your face and slay you so that the smallfolk may ride their mounts through the chokepoints you sleep at.
Ahhhhh yes, time to get my weekly cheevo hunting fix. I may have burned out on FFXIV after Shadowbringers, but I look forward to your videos every Friday.
The auto skipping of previously seen cutscenes is easily the QOL feature I appreciate the most. I've done way too many dungeons, trials, and raids to have too see parts of every cutscene lol.
So I guess a fun fact I was recently told by some BA experts (according to them this was only recently discovered) the elemental bonus that is given by the magicite on your magia board, as well as the gear you get from Baldesion Arsenal (the Physeos weapon, +2 Elemental gear and the Vermillion/Kirin chestpieces)? That elemental bonus actually syncs down depending on which instance you're in! In Anemos if you have a full set of +2 Gear and a Physeos Weapon, the magia board makes absolutely no difference to the damage you do, so you're always doing max damage/max defense whilst in that instance. In Pagos if you have the same setup you only need 1 Magicite in every element (so 6 Magicite total) to obtain the same effect. Apparently Pyros onwards where the Magicite is on your board begins to matter again. But it's interesting how overpowering a full set of +2 gear really is in the lower sections. I'll have to go look for another Eureka fact for next week now.
Five minutes in, already better than Pint's video. Why? Because you're actually helping to spawn things instead of "sitting AFK at camp." ❤ what a CHAD. Also am I the only one who keeps their inventory on the middle setting? Two pages of two?
@@doubleagames7457 especially on controller, it's a good balance of being able to see a lot at one time, but with minimal scrolling. Can just tab over!
I'm currently leveling warrior for the Eureka stuff! i did it a little bit a long time ago, but because i play solo, i didn't end up doing too much. but i feel like i could survive better using the warrior class.
I tried the first time as a summoner and had one hell of a time. I'm only advancing now because my warrior is finally leveled up. Makes life so much easier.
What quality of life feature that had the biggest impact on me? Being able to get on a mount when you have your companion summoned. Originally you couldn't do that. Then the devs were like: "Okay. We'll let you get on your Chocobo, since it IS out there already." Then they were like: "Nah. Changed our minds. You can get on any mount you want now." Oh... No, wait... That just reminded me of something else. Best QoL? ALL mounts can fly now! Waaaaaaay back when, if your mount didn't have wings, or some such, IT COULD NOT FLY! There use to be a "Mount Roulette" AND a "Flying Mount Roulette". Thankfully the devs eventually updated it so that all mounts could fly. Best QoL right there! :D
Personally, biggest QOL feature was just the recommended gear feature. Meant I didnt have to understand the gear until i was way more experienced. After that though, gotta be the copy hotbar feature.
Honestly, I find the Expanded inventory view to be a nice middle-ground between the tedium of one tab at a time and the clutter of all four tabs at once. 2 is a good number.
cider definitely didn't do yokai watch (he's a 5.4 -baby- full grown lalafell), but events like this also don't count for achievement score on lalachievements because they're not permanently available
I started the eureka relic grind casually in November. Anemos was finished quite quickly - but the other instances just take so long! The sheer amount of crystals is insane.

Discovered* i can't edit the comment for some reason XD
Best QOL i learned (i think from watching this series) was the existence of the Timers page
I literally just discovered that you could link glamour plates to gear set, so you don't need to change glams every time you switch classes
I still have no idea how to do that
@SoraShadowdancer in your gear set menu, you can right-click a gearset (square on PS controller) to bring up an options menu.
My achievements last week:
- 80 unique Leatherworker leves and 500 total tradecraft leves
- Level 90 Carpenter, Armorer, Weaver, Machinist, Black Mage, and Sage
- 500 Shadowbringers A-Ranks
- 20 Archaeoskin maps
- Desynthesize 1000 items
- 190 unique crafts as Blacksmith
Untradeable, but sellable to NPCs. My Doman reconstruction is built from the scraps of Amenos lockboxes.Timber? Recycled wardrobes. Leather bits? Recycled amenos gloves. Cushions? Recycled Amenos shirts. They paid me DOUBLE what the rest of the world would pay. Idiots! (I did not open 2800 lockboxes at once.)
The greatest QoL feature is one I personally requested and they added into the UI about a year later.
When I found you can limit the spell effects of teamates and nps, it was the best day of playing ff14
Best QOL, change - Apply color by role and job icons. Helps for those role mechs and when on BLU easy to spot job I need to mimic
You glorious madman. Keep it up!
Thank you for still showing the relics you already did!
Seeing that Scorpion Harness brought back memories. I saw so many of those in Jueno you could imagine it in your dreams.
Sadly, NMs don’t have “lore” usually, so these FATE textboxes are an improvement, at least.
my favourite QoL setting has to be the ability to stop gear pieces to automatically go into the armoury chest
/mirror off
/ac "flying mount roulette"
/ac "Sprint"
/pvpaction "Sprint"
/Macroicon "Flying Mount Roulette"
By far the discovery that made the biggest impact on me was expanding my inventory ui. Makes management much easier.
Best qol thing they added was the little tick to collectable items if you have it or not. Only took us 10 years to get it
QOL? The amount of HUD customization is one of the best things.
so for the quality of life thing, it had to have been the materia melders being added before i capped my crafters. before the melders, there was no way to put materia on gear without leveling a crafter. at the time i didn't care about crafting (saves and makes me so much gil now), so having an option to get me more stats and the low cost of 1000 gil per materia was a god send in my eyes. god i was stupid
The hotbar micro where you can expand more hotbars in a single button, it lets you shove all the classes into one button on your screen
Its been a blast joining you and all the other goobers. :)
I love the /isearch thingy. It makes...well searching for items..
so much easier ❤
I like that they added the 'undo sort' option for those times when I accidentally misclick 'sort' and fuck up my carefully placed inventory
my fav QOL feature was finding the 'turn off swearword filter' button so i could finally let loose when i roll praetorium in the scenario roulette for the 5th time that week
I always get this videos in the morning and I know for fact, that I will have a good morning
Finally, Eureka! My favorite bit of content in the game. Still need to buckle down and do my relics.
literally until watching this video i did not know about that open all inventory option.
All I can say aside from having finished the Eden raids last afternoon is that I've got the Gentlemage's Umbrella
Two of two is the superior inventory
@@doubleagames7457 especially on controller, it's a good balance of being able to see a lot at one time, but with minimal scrolling. Can just tab over!
I'm currently leveling warrior for the Eureka stuff! i did it a little bit a long time ago, but because i play solo, i didn't end up doing too much. but i feel like i could survive better using the warrior class.
I tried the first time as a summoner and had one hell of a time. I'm only advancing now because my warrior is finally leveled up. Makes life so much easier.
Does make things a lot easier, I recommend
the ability to resize any window, glam or menu is so much more helpful then you think
How do I try on multiple equips at once? I keep seeing people do it in videos, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. 🙃
Judgmental Judika is Judge Judy
I only have my inventory expanded once, not fully, I like having it separated too!
Personally, biggest QOL feature was just the recommended gear feature. Meant I didnt have to understand the gear until i was way more experienced.
After that though, gotta be the copy hotbar feature.
The only thing I hate about Eureka is the whole "2 level higher or lower" thing. It makes it so annoying to be able to play with friends
Honestly, I find the Expanded inventory view to be a nice middle-ground between the tedium of one tab at a time and the clutter of all four tabs at once. 2 is a good number.
Wow surprised this wasn't on the Yokai Watch event and the minions, mounts, and weapons.
Definitely going to be next week’s video. There’s way too many achievements to pass up there
Isnt it a rerun? He might already have everything
cider definitely didn't do yokai watch (he's a 5.4 -baby- full grown lalafell), but events like this also don't count for achievement score on lalachievements because they're not permanently available
^this
I imagine he'll do a short video on it at some point like he did for the other events
I know its a running gag but whats the deep lore behind ignoring dragoon?
I started the eureka relic grind casually in November. Anemos was finished quite quickly - but the other instances just take so long! The sheer amount of crystals is insane.
