These vocals are amazing, simple but deep in their truths. It makes me think what kind of lives these men lead when they risk their lives against evil for simple gold. To brave the dangers, or in some cases, embrace the terrors as a reality to the point they're just numb from it all. So much so, that they'd end their fellow man as viciously as they'd end the evil they hunt. In doing so, they become no better than the beasts they hunt and become the dead men waiting for that next sunrise. Everything in your lyrics rings true, one way or another, their reality is grim, it strips them of their sense of humanity and rational fear of God.
Those who hunt monsters should see to it that they do not become one themselves. For if you stare into the abyss for too long, the abyss will stare back into you.
Let's not forget this famous quote. "You either die the hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." These men, these hunters, they go to do a job more terrifying than any disaster or any war that has been shown in the history of mankind, and the craziest thing, they have nothing to lose and everything to give. They are the very walking definition of death. To face unspeakable horrors, hellish monsters and ugly creatures that wish for nothing more than the destruction of the world, well.....you'd have to be quite mad or just suicidal. That's what any sane person would say. Still, there is one thing that is scarier and deadlier than any of them, something that would stare down death itself in the face and not move an inch. Something that has always been more terrifying than anything this world has ever seen, that something.............is you. A dead man walking. The abyss may be all-consuming, it's very depths can lead you to madness, but its power and conquest is something not many men would pass up. It's maddening whispers, how they sing such sweet tunes, how long til you join the chorus? How long until you realize the abyss is inside you? And how long will it be until you realize.....it has always been a part of you?
I love this tune that the dev made, it's absolutely amazing. But you took it to another level, very well chosen lyrics, and you matched the tone and flow very well. Cheers to you lad!
100k Views!!!! I'm sat here with my beer listening to the track again! I couldn't help but try adding some of my own vocals in this unofficial version. I was still working as a Cinematic Artist at Crytek when I first heard the song. Although i usually stick to 3d graphics (www.artstation.com/joegarth). It's incredibly humbling that so many people got to enjoy my rendition here on youtube. Huge kudos to Crytek and all the great artists for building the world of Hunt, and the Audio department for their truly innovative work on the soundtrack. It was a great thing to leave Crytek on such a high note!!! Okay.. it's time to go back to the Hunt!

I have been obsessed with this version about one year ago and it still got me when I listen again today. The lyrics are excellent! The lyrics "on the search for silence, life is short and violence" just rings in my head. I must say that even not for the settings as the game, like in the real life, this is still kinds of true. We've got a similar idiom in my first language actually.

I remember a time when only two songs existed, three if you counted the christmas rendition of the main theme. but this was the first video with Lyrics and its such a classic, and while the current lyrics are fine, this always seems to hit that little bit harder.

Love it! Some words about the game: The first 10 rounds were horrifying and really hard to win but you get used to the weapon and the movement so quick!
Honestly think this is really awesome, and it makes sense given that american folk music often got spread around so much that the lyrics would change like a giant game of telephone, so it's fun to imagine that a hunter heard the port sulphur band preform and spread their own interpritation of the song around
