Tywin's definitely one of the best characters ever made. With a magnificent soundtrack, of course. This song reminds everyone what happened last time someone dared to tempt the fury of the Golden Lion of Casterly Rock, and immortalized the defeat of the Red Lion of Castamere. The thing with Tywin wasn't even that classical Macchiavellian mindset we're used to see with so many villains, but Charles Dance's charisma, and the fact of that Tywin as a character actually succeeded with that mindset, unlike many other Macchiavellian villains. So again. A magnificent soundtrack for a magnificent character.

The mines were empty and the crown was in great debt, so they were undeniably at the verge of bankruptcy and would definitely colapse into a massive economic crisis as soon as the war ended. But at least up to season 8 they still had the money or (or at least credit) to hire massive armies form across the sea and keep themselves afloat. Honestly It would be quite interesting to see the Iron Bank suddenly shifting their support to Daenerys due to the Lannisters (ironically) failing to pay their insurmountable debt, it would add some more credibility to the way the bank works (they supposedly fund your enemies if you fail to pay them), which for the entire show seemed like a completely imbecile entity always lending money to the losing side, never getting their money back and not doing anything about it.
@Orcaluv26 The Reach always had the true power in the kingdom (largest armies, and the best most productive land), they were just too tame and docile to sieze it. The only thing making the Lannisters wealthier/more powerful than the Tyrells was gold, but gold doesn't feed empty bellies. If Mace was had a fifth of Tywin's cunning and intelligence, the Tyrells would easily dominate the seven kingdoms.
This is the best rains of castamere I have ever heard, I don't like Tywin but respect him and his intelligent and strategic mind because he reminds us to never underestimate our enemies. Via this song that reminds everyone on what happend to the Tarbecks and Reynes.
And to add the insult to the injury, Tyrion, the son he was shamed of, was the one who resembled his ideals the most and, with Jaime and Cersei's deaths, all it was left of his legacy.

He didn't even get a pov chapter, lmfao. Died in the Privy, shot by his OWN son! At least Robb died honorably among his family and men...There will be people willing to avenge Robb, but none for Tywin.
This version makes me think that Tywin took no pleasure in the destruction of those houses, in fact he was haunted by them. Always hearing the endless sceams of the women and children as he flooded the halls with water until the screaming stopped. And now, he sends this song to anyone daring to stand against him so he never had to commit such an act again. Tywin did things that he found cruel, evil and sadistic, all to ensure the survival of his family, legacy and future. That, is what made him so dangerous.

Yet, he was foolish enough to hate his own blood for trivial reasons. Tyrion probably dishonored the lannister name the least out of the three siblings. Cersei couldn't stop Joffery from killing Ned which, in turn, made an enemy out of the North. Her sleeping with Jaime and the rumours tainted the name even further. Jaime killed the king he'd sworn to protect with his life, hence earning the disgraceful title of 'kingslayer'. Most dishonour Tyrion has ever bought to the family is probably just being a dwarf. Tywin Lannister, while being wise and cunning, was also a hypocrite. Maybe the wisest of hypocrites.
Love the slight tweaks to it. The reverb adds a lot to it to make it a truly haunting melody and a warning to anyone who messed with the Lannisters so long as Tywin lived.

I think we all knew tywin had to die at some point in the story. he was a part of the old guard, he was a powerhouse of a player and probably more ruthless then any other player, when it came to getting what he wanted. so with all the other players off the board he had to go for the plot to move on and open up for the new guard to come inn. it sucks, but it is what it is...
