i think horsemen shown in the series have a nice order:- 1)war when there is a war people lose everything including food resources 2)famine when people lose resources they starve and it leads to famine 3)pestilence when people starve they become weak and get affected by many diseases which is pestilence 4)death and ofcourse finally it leads to death
Watching Supernatural for the first time, JUST watched the episode where Death first appears. holy shit talk about an amazing first impression! he is legit awesome.
Supernatural interpretation of Death is the best i saw, he is both terrifying, and charming. both someone i would like to have a meal with, while knowing it would be my last...................but what a last moment.
When I thought Castiel's entrance was all of it, along comes the introduction of Death. The song, the weather, the fish tail Cadillac, Death's appearance turned every other appearance on it's edge! This was it!
I never watched supernatural nor have I entertained the idea of watching supernatural. But I got to say, thanks to TH-cam's random recommendations, Death is already my favorite character.
You haaaave to see it!!! Best show ever. If you dont want to, at least watch Death’s intro, it’s 30 seconds and probably one of the hottest scenes in the whole show. Serious CHILLS! Slow-mo with this music, it’s wild. S05E21, about 19:30 into the episode. He really is one of the greatest characters, probably from every show. He plays it so perfect, calm, old, all knowing, scary AF. But his intro!!! 🔥💀🔥
Suraj Barnwal Right, because amara didn’t exist back then. The creator only wanted 5 seasons for supernatural, the true story ended right when dean had dinner after Sam jumped into the pit Everything that came afterwards was just greedy bad writing that pissed on everything that Eric worked on Eg. Nowadays when an angel dies, it looks more like a human firefly burning out instead of the first time we saw an angel die bursting like a nuke, nearly killing everyone
"And so he appeared... the embodiment of what comes after... riding the back of his pale steed... impassive to the insects around him... passing his message through the ages as silent as the wind and night... why? Because he was being kind." This, I think, perfectly describes just how Death sees this world before him. Indifferent. Uncaring. And passive to the things around him. Why? Because he was here long before we existed, and he will pass by long after we are gone.
Yep. Unlike the other Horsemen, who are clearly malicious, Death just does his job in the greater span of the cosmos, standing and existing above all the little mortals destined to meet him, and he knows it. Strong, weak, old, young, rich, poor... doesn't make a difference to mortality itself. If life isn't fair, then death is unfairly fair.
@@mrreyes5004 I think part of it is that the other horsemen cause suffering in those they touch. Death just... ends. War tears apart families. Famine leads to the slow suffer of starvation. Pestilence, well, Spanish Flu and polio. Death is a result, not an act.
Not true. As long as life exists, Death will exist, and will never pass. The only problem I have with his depiction in Supernatural is the Scythe that he has. It looks strange.
his first appearance where he comes out of his car just casually starts walking touches a guy then dust of that human's dirt off his arm and after a while that guy just roll over and dies, i said to myself at that moment, 'man, this is gonna be awesomely terrifying'
I really liked the representation of death and all the reapers. That they aren't their to kill you but to help you accept death and lead you to the afterlife, not some mindless demon like in other depictions
By far, THE BEST character entrance I have ever seen, bar none. The music, the setting, the white Caddy, the man himself, it was all flawless. Tip my hat to that.
Fascinating that this Irish American Appalachian dirge written in 1916 is still popular today. It actually has it's roots in the older Sean-nós style singing of Ireland, going back to the 13th century. 😊

Sam: Wait a second.....the scythe should've killed you. It.....it's the only thing that CAN kill you, isn't it? Death: Well yes, but not from one simple stab. There's a plethora of other steps and rituals involved, plenty that are beyond your comprehension, let alone your capability. Dean: Whoa, okay, so.....this scythe on its own does diddly squat against you?! Are you kidding me?! Death: Dean.....do you honestly believe that every problem in your life can be solved with one simple stab? Or a gun shot? Some fire or silver, perhaps? Dean:..... Death: Let me put this in a way you'll understand. Life, as you know it, is simple. Killing, or hunting in your case, is simple. But when one dies and moves on, or simply ceases to exist, they enter a territory that it is more complicated than anyone on this planet, let alone this universe, can ever perceive. They enter my territory, and the living are terrified by it. Just look at the three of you here in this bunker. All of you have died multiple times, yet you come back here and decide to live. Why? Because it's simple, and you refuse to consider the alternative. Sam, Dean, and Cas:..... Death: Is that a satisfactory explanation, or should I go into the specifics of how I'll reap God and reveal the universal after-effects of that? Sam, Dean, and Cas:..... Death: Good. Now that that's settled, who's up for some barbeque? I hear that Kansas is known for it.
By far THE BEST Entrance of a character in ANY show! The song is AMAZING! Love the power, the composition! Jensen is always amazing and I feel the people who cast Supernatural do such a fantastic job from the actor for Death, for Lucifer, Crowley, all of them fit their roles perfectly!
When Billy started singing this in the hallways I got WAY too excited. This is still one of the best musical moments in the show in my opinion. But now nothing will top Chuck's Farewell Song.

+Amy Estep-Lake (mimi) Kingdom Hospital is actually based on a way older, more funny and way more creepy Danish TV-show, ("Riget" - 1994) made by Lars von Trier! It was recorded in the largest Hospital in Denmark, Rigshospitalet, and it is said that many mysterious events happened during the making of the episodes and the after the show had been aired some of the actors later revealed that there was shadows seen on the film where there should be none... Now personally I think it's all just coincidences - but if you like older low budget foreign TV-shows in that genre, I would recommend watching it!

I like how everyone is completely ignorant of the fact that this is a folk song, and completely ignore the fact that many other artists have performed this song and lyrics do differ because artistic liberty is a thing and not everyone wants to sing it like Lloyd Chandler, nor should they have to.

@@wanderinghistorian You can't kill Death; all it did was take another form (Billie). So no, the embodiment of mortality fears no life form. I loved how they didn't portray him as inherently good or evil. He was morally grey in a way. He didn't care about humans, but he still took them. He didn't act scary or all powerful but with one look or word or even gesture he commanded attention. Whether it be out of fear, awe or just curiosity everyone always noticed him. The symbolism in that is that sooner or later everyone experiences death. It's what made him such a character to love because his portrayal of something so permanent was amazing.
This rendition of O Death and Chuck’s “Fare Thee Well” got me to finally take singing lessons and join a folk song society. This rendition of O Death is just amazing!
You’ll reap god,oh yes his time will come you know how much of a badass you have to be to say something like that with a cold straight face? death is my favorite character on supernatural hands down
The best embodiment of death in any TV show, not to mention the best recurring character of Supernatural! His gaunt and sunken features are too fitting.
cody passmore right like he was intimidating in the perfect way he wasn't scary he just exuded power and he was resigned to this power and burden. Edit: misspelled word
People with true power rarely feel the compulsion to flaunt it. That’s why he was perfect. When you have no reason to be frightened it’s easy to be benevolent.
SthiffGamerz I believe he's a omni presence almost because if you recall him saying "even God has to die" gives a bit of an idea what he is so he exist in this world but the factual answer to death for humans is death :p if that makes sense neither alive nor dead just there.
I had the same convo with my brother. I mean the essential part on life is death, and without there wouldn't be life. At the end, dead can't be dead because dead is the end, and it's omipresent. Or you can't have one without the other, and even if you have the reapers, it's not the same as dead. I know, in the series he vanish into nothing, but it really doesn't make any sense to kill dead dead....
Technically.. no matter what you call him.. he's technically always going to be an Anthropomorphic Personification... he is something that humans have given form over the years as a way of explaining that they die... I mean they used to find gods in rocks... though the usual image of death is that of a skeletal being with a scythe.. the evolution is no less impressive...though it kinda bugs me that he's not taller.. only 5'8
Best character introduction in any media. He makes you feel small and insignificant. So much that he wouldn't even consider killing you. Because next to him, you are. Even as a viewer, he gives you that fear. Not an "oh shit I'm gonna die" fear but a fear that comes from knowing that this is a being you will never comprehend, that makes it clear, that you are inconsequential to him or the universe. That he was the first to be, and he will be the last.

Also you think that after the boys came back to life that he could have taken them, if he didn't know how important the Winchester's are to the universe (even though he did call dean a bateria).

Don't you mean actor. Lol.
Idk if that's a compliment to the actor or the opposite 😅
kungfumaster51 I think he's referring to how he was presented.
@@mikael3415 which would be the actor playing death.

My favorite supernatural quote 😭
I’d kill it with soap.

My favourite would be the following sentence to your quote: "This is one little planet in one tiny solar system in a galaxy that's barely out of its diapers. I'm old, Dean. Very old. So I invite you to contemplate how insignificant I find you"
i think horsemen shown in the series have a nice order:-
1)war
when there is a war people lose everything including food resources
2)famine
when people lose resources they starve and it leads to famine
3)pestilence
when people starve they become weak and get affected by many diseases which is pestilence
4)death
and ofcourse finally it leads to death
You smart little thing. I can't believe I didn't realize that.
They said nearly the same thing in Good Omens. Props.
Everything you do will lead to death at some point

I think The Author of the Bible got the order right about 2000 years before the writers of Supernatural

Watching Dean show respect to someone who is not his father is rather compelling. But I agree that the characterization here is perfect.

and a class act all the way. That air of aloofness jst how i imagine death would be.
I gotta say, the way Jen Titus caresses those syllables is a thing of beauty
When I thought Castiel's entrance was all of it, along comes the introduction of Death. The song, the weather, the fish tail Cadillac, Death's appearance turned every other appearance on it's edge! This was it!
not to mention the guy he killed
I never watched supernatural nor have I entertained the idea of watching supernatural.
But I got to say, thanks to TH-cam's random recommendations, Death is already my favorite character.
You should really watch spn
Well you’re in luck it’s on Netflix
Only watch the first 5 seasons.
You really should go watch it
You haaaave to see it!!! 🔥💀🔥
“How old are you?”
“As old as god, probably older.”
“..”
Nope
Amara didn't remember him which shows he was created after God
Suraj Barnwal
Right, because amara didn’t exist back then. The creator only wanted 5 seasons for supernatural, the true story ended right when dean had dinner after Sam jumped into the pit
Everything that came afterwards was just greedy bad writing that pissed on everything that Eric worked on
Eg. Nowadays when an angel dies, it looks more like a human firefly burning out instead of the first time we saw an angel die bursting like a nuke, nearly killing everyone
@@FragnarokNethermaster OMG, idk why buy I immediately thought of meteors and comets...lol.

"And so he appeared... the embodiment of what comes after... riding the back of his pale steed... impassive to the insects around him... passing his message through the ages as silent as the wind and night... why? Because he was being kind."
This, I think, perfectly describes just how Death sees this world before him.
What I just read is beautiful and reverent. You speak my tongue.
Ioo illooooliippiipii
Not true. As long as life exists, Death will exist, and will never pass. The only problem I have with his depiction in Supernatural is the Scythe that he has. It looks strange.
his first appearance where he comes out of his car just casually starts walking touches a guy then dust of that human's dirt off his arm and after a while that guy just roll over and dies,
i said to myself at that moment, 'man, this is gonna be awesomely terrifying'
Jeepers Creepers the guy actually ran into death and was rude about it....don't be rude to death lol

I really liked the representation of death and all the reapers. That they aren't their to kill you but to help you accept death and lead you to the afterlife, not some mindless demon like in other depictions
Like the Angel Of Death many people think he or maybe she is evil but all they do is carry people's souls to the afterlife
The only other place with a Death character better developed would have to be Terry Pratchett's Discworld.

Hello beautiful lady 👋
Supernatural is freaking AWESOME. And, they chose the perfect actor to portray Death's character. :).
Fascinating that this Irish American Appalachian dirge written in 1916 is still popular today. It actually has it's roots in the older Sean-nós style singing of Ireland, going back to the 13th century. 😊
This was hands down the best horseman introduction they ever made, it was incredible 😁
I think it was the best character introduction ever. Even castiel's intro pales in comparison.
I want this played at my funeral

This and Blackbird (Beatles) are the two I want.
"And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him." Death's introduction to the show was one of the most powerful entrances ever. Very memorable moment of Supernatural.

I think Dean hurted after he killed death the same when he killed kane

+Amy Estep-Lake (mimi)
Kingdom Hospital is actually based on a way older, more funny and way more creepy Danish TV-show, ("Riget" - 1994) made by Lars von Trier!

"When God is gone and the Devil takes hold, who will have mercy on your soul?" Damn.

Isabella Sevilla amen!
That's pretty hard. Becuase death... well is dead

Hmmm interesting. One would think that it would be expected. In your field of work you'd be bound to lose a few people. In a morbid way a song like this would help to cope.
Original Death was the ultimate badass not only did he make dean and bobby treat him with the greatest of respect (even after dean made a quip and apologized immediately after) . Also you think that after the boys came back to life that he could have taken them, if he didn't know how important the Winchester's are to the universe (even though he did call dean a bateria).
I loved the way that after the man rudely pushed by him, Death simply kept on walking, brushed his shoulder off...
And let the man fall dead on the street.
But then, when Dean meets him face to face, Death comes across having a chilled, "Business is business." Kinda attitude. 😍
