The Human Domestication Society is making a huge mistake. They should have left human's alone if first contact was that disastrous. While they do have some more advanced technology, pretty sure the GOC (and the Foundation) has some anomalous weapons they could hide inside someone and detonate the second they travel back to the HDS's homeworld.

This isn't really domestication. Not unless they're going to stop taking humans at a certain point. Domestication involves breeding certain traits over time to achieve the desired response to the people handling the species. This is more like taming where they take the creature and force it into submission. They'd have much better luck if they just bred them and trained them young to be servants of some kind. Of course some taming would still be involved eventually to keep the gene pool stable but that's a given, really. Unless there are more than just the HDS doing the breeding, that is. It would also benefit them to utilise the strengths of the human, keep them walking upright since that's what their physiology is meant for. You wouldn't force your dog to walk on two legs its whole life so why force the human to crawl on all fours? The better you can work with what the species offers you, the more you'll benefit from it even as a pet.
I haven't read the original entry, but I believe the humans walking on all fours is more of a visual signifier that they're being treated like dogs, and not literally what happens to them. I may be wrong, though, so don't believe me too much

I feel like those creatures don't know there are in a multiverse and have been doing this to the wrong world of Humans. From a storytelling perspective this one falls apart pretty quickly. Humanity’s defining attribute is its intelligence. If some alien race were interested in keeping homo sapiens as pets, our intelligence and personality would have to be the key draw. Otherwise you might as well just get something like a dog. Much simpler, not to mention cheaper.

What do you think would happen if an instance of SCP-1897 encountered a “wild human” that was not lobotomised but pretended to be an instance of SCP-1897-1 (perhaps an undercover foundation agent)? Would they still lobotomise them or assume they already are?

These things don’t seem to understand that there is a difference between genuinely taming a creature, and literally lobotomizing it and pretending that you’re taming it. I don’t know what happened to them, but they’re proving that they’re no better than humans.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is a canonical continuation of scp-1000 where they set up this ring of 'human pets' and then invited extra-terrestrials and got them into the idea of taking humans as pets so that one day all humans would be free from earth itself. did you know that a few tribes in Oklahoma actually treated their slaves as family, and as such the slaves could actually have better lives than if they were free. It would be cool if this SCP did that, but they probably don't.

From a storytelling perspective this one falls apart pretty quickly. Humanity’s defining attribute is its intelligence. If some alien race were interested in keeping homo sapiens as pets, our intelligence and personality would have to be the key draw. Otherwise you might as well just get something like a dog. Much simpler, not to mention cheaper.
I think the motive is quite clear even still stupid, like why they prefer humans because for the sake of revenge for what humans did to them in the past. Even still unclear from where the human universe version did that to them.
Also, intelligence makes keeping us immoral since we know what's going on lol
