I actually like the "non-touchable" screen in my 2023 C43 coupe. No moving my gaze from driving. I just got good at using the center controller and steering wheel controls. And no smugged up screen.
Thank you Tom, Rob and Martin for your appreciated efforts. I have been watching and been a sub for a long time but don't normally comment. Thanks again for your efforts.
Love the time and dedication that goes into the reviews it’s professionally well done. Kudos for the Driven staff I greatly appreciate and enjoy the reviews. I can watch multiple times for reference also they never get old.
I always watch your videos more than once, there is so much packed in to one video. The photography alone takes a few passes to fully appreciate! Thank you to the Driven team, you guys rock!
I just test drove a CPO C43, very impressed. A lot of hate for the fake AMG badge, but this is plenty of power and the steering was very good. The Sport+ mode was a huge change in noise and engine response. Finding a use one with the options you want is difficult, but I think the AMG Performance is a must have. Thanks for the great review, especially the handling comments, sorry about the drone!
All of your efforts do NOT go unappreciated, Tom and crew! The AMG series in any Mercedes would, just for myself, be an occasional use vehicle (i.e. weekender). For my daily driving, I prefer a vehicle that is quiet and compliant with the various road surfaces and tire options. I really love the interior of this particular AMG!
Thanks for the review! I have the 2018 c43 and love it 👍 as for subs, totally hear you on that. I have a career mentoring channel for recent grads and adults looking for a change and there are always production issues behind the scenes and my videos are no where as complicated as yours! Love your videos - it’s got that old school vibe with a very modern touch. Great balance!
Appreciate the great reviews, Tom. I’ve been subscribed since 5K and I’ll continue to watch. As you said, your reviews are always entertaining and informative. Keep up the good work.
You could always close the trunks on powered trunks of Mercedes, at least the S-Classes as far back as 2001. I remember way back when I had my first S-Class I opened the powered trunk with the switch inside for someone outside and wondered if it would close it, if I pushed the rocker the other direction and it did, always a cool party trick.
I am 64 years of age...I therefore, have driven many cars...I ENJOY DRIVING THIS CAR MORE THAN ANY OTHER...THE DRIVE IS ORGASMIC....so I bought a AMG C43 CABRIOLET....
I just found your channel and subbed! Excellent review. You just put this car at the top of my shopping list. Was having a hard time choosing between this, an Audi RS3, and an M2. This seems to be the best mix of comfort and performance.
Hey Tom! might be fun for you to do a video on all the gear you use, from your camera set up to tripod to the drone. I would be interested in watching, and I'm sure many of your fans would too.
It was good seeing your personality at the end, makes the review more...human. I don’t know if you have to be very professional for The NY Times, but adding a bit of your personality to your videos might help you increase your following like other automotive TH-camrs.
A performance variant that's a viable daily driver (four comfortable seats, etc.) is my sweet spot (I like the size much better than the E, or Tesla S) and I have thought this coupe or the C43 Sedan might have been just the one. Unfortunately I livie in an apartment so can't charge my electric at home.I drive a performance variant BMW 3 series from the good old days (2004) which I'm looking to replace with something roomier than my Porsche C4S. Would have wanted to know how this sweet car would have been as a daily driver: visibility? too firm a suspension? sounds like the sport exhaust is unnecessary but good that it is optional; is it as quiet as a C without the sport exhaust? P.S. Love Tom Voelk's reviews. The most sober and in a class with only one other great journalist, Dan Neil.
Great and thorough car review as always. I like the way the Sedan looks better than the Coupe. Would love to see a comparison review between the C63 AMG and the GLC 63 AMG.
Amazing drone shot over the corn at 3:43! How many takes did that take, lolz. Also: I know the chances are nil, but what about lifting off these horrible plastic engine covers and showing us the real guts? Can't stand those things.
75 k whew! Yeah your sport on with the ride. My c450 rides terrible as well . As far as value you will loose 35 k right off the bat! Might want to check in a cpo or used. But like you said it does look nice. Also check out the c63 as far as pricing.
I own a 2017 C300 Coupe. Absolutely gorgeous, one of the most beautiful cars on the road. Love the exterior and interior. But I wouldn't buy another COMAND system Mercedes. With an MBUX system, I'd consider it (maybe).
@@wagner0110 The voice recognition has been very frustrating. I don't think it's a bad system necessarily, but the new MBUX system has gotten good reviews. I would prefer the next generation of tech.
Black wheels are over done. When will car makers go a different route? Black doesn't scream special any more because everyone is doing it. So Tom, which c43/53 would you put in your garage?
There was a big omission from this review. Given that this is a refresh, some compare/contrast from the previous model would have been extremely useful. Some people passed on the previous models due to the ride. Supposedly the ride was improved (among other things). However, none of that was mentioned. Overall, an OK review that could have been much better.
Congrats Tom your at 101k subscribers you’ll be at 201k by next year watch and see !!! And the seat plastic thingy that pops out looks so cheap and plastic
I have a C43 AMG Cabriolet....a lovely car. Nicely quick and agile and can still get 30mpg on a road trip. It gets lots of looks and comments....BUT .....it has very fragile tires and wheels...I am only one 2" deep pothole away from a big expense from a flat tire, I've had 5 or 6, or a cracked wheel, I've had 3. For this reason, I feel very uncomfortable driving it out of town because of the inconvenience of a flat tire or cracked wheel or both. I've had several other cars with low profile or fun flat tires and not encountered this problem in identical driving conditions. I've noticed on several other MB forums that others are having similar problems as well.
Tom, I am a huge fan, but I'm a little disappointed that most of the car reviews you've done for the last several months are mostly luxury and/or hybrid. I'd certainly enjoy seeing you do more mainstream vehicles as part of the mix. Thanks.
That’s got to be one of the greatest sounding v6s

Definitely OMG. I am glad you mentioned the lack of a manual option. It still seems unusual to accept performance cars without them.

so Benz do not name the cars after the engine anymore? It use to be the 43 mean 4.3 liter engine looks like not any more
No, that went away with the last en C63, which had a 6,2l, but close enough. Now the new 63's have a 4.0l v8, the 43's 3.0l v6, 45's 2.0l 4cyl.

beautiful car all round . Gr8 daily sports car. Keep in mind even the porsche 911 carrera makes 380 bhp. This makes more at half the price.

It should be electronically limited to 155 miles an hour. That's what most performance cars are. They're just kneecapping this model.
