Incredible! What wouldn't I give to have seen that show? Too bad I was born on the wrong side of "the pond." Some of those sixties British shows with all of the great bands must have been epic events. It's too bad that those days are now gone. All we have are these great and historic clips.
Needed a little Dusty spot on fun music on a snowy day. She was so fantastic in her every action, making each song come alive with her intreptation . Some today may view her as simple as she didn't have to be all over the place jiving around but basically just belted out each song so beautiully. Can't get enough of her voice.
This was the 1966 New Musical Express Poll Winners Concert at Wembley Stadium London. She did two more songs after this one "You don't have to say you love me" & "Shake" the Sam Cook song. On stage were The Echoes, Madeline Bell, Kiki Dee & Lesley Duncan. The whole concert was performed live by all the acts.
Same here, pandy. TH-cam had just a couple of Dusty songs posted (the ones all Americans know her by) up until a couple of months ago. Then the flood burst.:-) I too am now in awe of Dusty Springfield--the world's greatest pop female vocalist ever. What a complete talent!
I loved you Dusty, from the first moment you appeared on TV :¬) I was supposed to be into progressive rock and all that, and I was, but you were, just, gorgeous! And what a voice! RIP dear one.
Two of the background singers are Madeline Bell ("I'm Gona MakeYou Love Me" and "Melting Pot") and Kiki Dee ("I've Got the Music in Me" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart")
good spot mycroftsbrother, that is indeed ringo`s kit. these are the 1966 NME poll winners music awards, infamous amongst beatles fans for the fact this was the year that brian epstein didnt allow the beatles performance to be recorded (which was a pity because they sang classics like `nowhere man`, i feel fine` and `day tripper` on the show) crazy to think that whilst dusty is singing in this clip the beatles were on the verge of giving up touring for ever.
yes...the Beatles though blazed the trail for other British singers to cross this pond and vice versa...can share their talent all over the world...here's to the Beatles
probably a NME (New Musical Express) yearly show featuring the top voted British talent, most likely 1964 or perhaps 1965. NME was the top music mag of the day in England. LOTS of clips on youtube featuring NME shows by the beatles, stones, hollies etc
Yes, but if you look at 0:05 between the guitar player and the amplifier, I think that's Ringo's drum kit. msongs posted that this was probably a NME concert, which is quite probable, but I heard Dusty say in an interview that they used to book "package" shows with a lot of really big names all on one bill. I suppose they couldn't afford to do that today... ahhh, the '60's!
Where does our love lie? In the middle of nowhere Will it soon pass me by? In the middle of nowhere Baby, won't you tell me What am I to do? I'm in the middle of nowhere Getting nowhere with you Mmm, where did my heart land? In the middle of nowhere Where are the dreams I planned? In the middle of nowhere Listen to me baby Listen to my plea I'm in the middle of nowhere And it's worrying me Over and over again You tell me you need my love If what you say is true Why can't we be together? Over and over you tell me I'm all that you're thinking of Baby you know that I love you But I can't wait forever Where does our love lie? In the middle of nowhere How can you let it die? In the middle of nowhere Are you gonna leave me? Leave my heart astray I'm in the middle of nowhere Come and show me the way Over and over again You tell me you need my love Baby you know that I love you But I can't wait forever Where does our love lie? In the middle of nowhere How can you let it die? In the middle of nowhere Are you gonna leave me And leave my heart astray I'm in the middle of nowhere Come and show me the way Hey, where does out love lie? Come on now Where does our love lie? Right slap in the middle of nowhere Right slap in the middle of nowhere Right slap in the middle of nowhere
NME 1965 Poll Winners Concert, Royal Albert Hall. They would have all that years winners perform one after another. Great performances and sound despite the more primitive sound systems back then.
Backup singers Madline (sp?) Bell, Lesley Duncan and Barbara Moore were Dusty's vocalists on her BBC shows as well in 66-67. Not sure if this is later than those or not, but a jazzy performance nonetheless.
Does anybody know when and where this recording is made? I'm interested because i'm sure that's 'The Beatles' drum kit that can be seen in the background on 0.04 seconds. Either way, it's another brilliant Dusty performance, looking fabulous and the backing vocalists and band are fantastic as well.
If you notice, when Dusty first comes in, there is a drum kit with "__atles" clearly visible on the bass drum on the upper left. Were the Beatles on the same bill for this show? If so, what a great concert that must have been! Does anyone know where and when this performance was and who else appeared?
I'm going to buy this lot where Ian here ecsact my heart 💜 is belong I am the real owner of this land to anyone can show there title I'm ready to go to court sue me show where is your title of my belongings
@carlsperr Enthusiasm is not the same as acting like a bunch of animals. Seems you lack manners with the assumption that people now have no regard towards behaviour. Also try telling that to a crowd around The Beatles.
What a lot of rubbish! Madeline and Dusty were never lovers! This was at the NME Poll Winners Concert in '65. Dusty is on record as saying that she hated this song as it didn't add any value to her career. I like though.
Not for me. Truth be told--and nothing against Katy's vocalizations--my interest isn't remotely sparked by the imitators when there's so much of the real talents to be discovered on TH-cam.:) If Dusty Springfield doesn't get a serious re-appreciation, then we Americans truly have forgotten what real musicianship is. More versatile than the Supremes, more original and enduring than the Beatles: that's Dusty, to me.
I don't think she was more versatile than the Supremes or more original and enduring than the Beatles but I still think she was brilliant. Probably one of the best pop singers ever.
A brilliant talent & remarkable voice !
Incredible! What wouldn't I give to have seen that show? Too bad I was born on the wrong side of "the pond." Some of those sixties British shows with all of the great bands must have been epic events. It's too bad that those days are now gone.
All we have are these great and historic clips.
Planet Dusty!!! how i love this woman!
talent like hers is beyond definition.
thanks to all who lovingly share these gorgeous Dusty treasures!!
Needed a little Dusty spot on fun music on a snowy day. She was so fantastic in her every action, making each song come alive with her intreptation . Some today may view her as simple as she didn't have to be all over the place jiving around but basically just belted out each song so beautiully. Can't get enough of her voice.
This is really live and she can sure can sing. Good rocker!
Of course she could sing - she was the greatest.

Dusty was the greatest of them all.
Nobody else comes close.
Absolutely.
Fantastic Performance!!! 5*s Love This Song!...5*s Thankyou....Anita..
Dusty was a beautiful and soulful singer.
Wonderful Dusty - What a tremendous artist - Thanks so much for this brilliant share - Miss you D !
Awesome song 65
I loved you Dusty, from the first moment you appeared on TV :¬)
I was supposed to be into progressive rock and all that, and I was, but you were, just, gorgeous! And what a voice!
RIP dear one.
Love her look ! Those clothes fits her perfectly !!!
Outrageously good
A great British soul singer in her own right.
Happy Birthday Sweet Dusty!!!
Class is permanent!
Two of the background singers are Madeline Bell ("I'm Gona MakeYou Love Me" and "Melting Pot") and Kiki Dee ("I've Got the Music in Me" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart")
Dusty, 'simply the best, better than all the rest'. God bless yer lass, love & miss you loads.

WERK DUSTY & The Band & The Girls HOLLA !!!
This is my favourite clip of Dusty she looks and sounds great
Dusty was always brilliant but how cool is that having Madeline Bell, Kiki Dee and Lesley Duncan on backing vocals too.
One of her best
yes...the Beatles though blazed the trail for other British singers to cross this pond and vice versa...can share their talent all over the world...here's to the Beatles
She was 6 years younger than my mom, who was born in 1933. She sure was hot for being from that time. Great singer.
I loves this song :) So perfect
Madeline Bell! Backing singer

Listen to my plea

If what you say is true
Why can't we be together?

That the same bacground singers that CERRONE used int seventies.. Sue glover, Sunny leslie And Madaline Bell! And yes they are HOT!
Correct spelling is Madeline. She has her own videos on TH-cam. Check them out. She's still working and singing.
@spicebreak Two years on and still waiting...
Sunny and Sue aren't featured here. Kiki Dee and Lesley Duncan are sharing backing duties with Madeline Bell
23 years before I was born

Dusty and her band were fabulous. Pity the audience was comatose..

One of the backing singers looks like Tyler the creator
Is this because of Katy Setterfield winning the talent competition?

+fannycraddock99 It is generally known and accepted that Madeline and Dusty were lovers. Madeline subsequently married - a man.
