    As a young developer who recently changed careers (I was a marketing digital consultant before), I too am looking for the perfect monitor. I currently have a Samsung 27", but I'm not satisfied. I hesitated for a while with an UltraWide because I wanted a big screen to have my IDE in the middle, documentation on the side, Slack or something else on the other but as you say... I'm afraid the lack of sharpness would make my eyes bleed.
    I then thought about the new Samsung M7 monitor but now my heart is more towards the Apple Studio Display, it's still a 27" but the picture quality, the brightness, the design... I'm looking forward to a Studio Display test!

    I have Samsung 4K LU28R550, it's a smaller 28-inch monitor, so it has a kinda Retina resolution, it doesn't have all of the cons of the M7 but it is IPS, supports Displayport and has a very minimalistic design, has somewhat HDR support, it is brighter and cheaper.
    Cons: not all VESA mounts support it (there is 75*75 support only, so you need to find a specific VESA mount or use longer bolts for it (like for curved monitors), by default it has too much green in colour, so you need manually fix colours a bit (I changed to R 52, G 50, B 57). Also, it's not smart, just a monitor.

    • @AivarsMeijers
      @AivarsMeijers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like a great choice if 27..28" in 4K is not too small for you. I tried 24 and 27" 4k screens and have to say that they felt a bit too small for 4K resolution. That's issue with macOS scaling.

  • @Aditya-wj5gy
    @Aditya-wj5gy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I just bought it today, and it is relatively expensive in India ~32K INR. It's rich on functionality side, but as you said ok to good in quality. One thing which I really hate is when you switch screens, it's blurry for some noticeable time before the screen is again clear to read and also fonts are not very much sharp (maybe because of VA and only 60Hz refresh rate). Not good monitor for moving frames, as you will not see that much clarity. I am happy with the purchase, as in worst case it can be used as a good smart tv.

    Hey Alvars, yeah the monitor situation is interesting now.
    I'm also waiting on the Studio Display, and have a studio in a box next to me now waiting as well. It's all about the resolution, and the fact that it's actually decent looking.
    My workstation in the our living room, so have always used at 'TV' as a secondary monitor anyway. We just upgraded to a Samsung QN90B, after using the mini LED monitors on the iPad and MacBook I'm hoping that this will be in the same league. I mean you may think that you not sensible to the 60hz flicker, but if we read health norm documentation and according to eye health requirements for workers in the office (USSR edition) flicker should be more than 300hz to be considered unharmful. So yeah samsung with 60hz pwm best choice ever. And only one way to stop that flicker is use it with maximum brightness, which is also very good for working with text. I think you switching between screen cos you do not get satisfaction from your screens and probably main reason is that you use flickering displays, or enabling some g-sync to make it flicker.
