Top class, in depth analysis of relevant topics that are central to the horse racing scene. Ollie shines in his chosen field and brings out the best in his clients. Johnny is talking with an equal and is easy on the ear.
What a great interview! Fascinating reflections from the top jockey. I followed him for years and never saw him ride a bad race. You can think of so many great horses/wins that weren't mentioned -- Sinndar, Rock of Gilbraltar, High Chaparral, Sole Power... even that coup on Laddies Poker Two!
What a top class guy Murtagh is, Don't think theres anyone else in Racing id put above him to have a (soft) drink with and hear his ledgendary stories, from being no1 rider for the most powerful stable on earth, riding yeats, derby winners, The Choisir races and now training the next generation and from his own personal struggles in life with the drink for me theres nobody id rather have a chat or night out with, fascinating guy and top trainer will be winning more and more gr1s in the near future
Johnny boy one the best on his day very rear u would see him on big odds horse johnny was always on the best of the best for aidan and Coolmore ❤️💯🇮🇪🐴🏆
7 Euro is cheap. There were German races where you had to pay 80€ to even buy a beer that cost 18€. Basically a passport to buy stuff. So to make the beverages cheaper, you´d be wise to eventually get drunk, cause if you ordered just one beer, you´d pay 80+18 for half a litre.
Rip Van Winkle & Twice Over finished 1st & 2nd respectively in that 2010 Juddmonte International they spoke about. 3 weeks later, both of them got galloped bowlegged by Cape Blanco at Leopardstown in the Irish Champion Stakes, taking the field gate to wire and beating them both by 5-1/2 lengths with RVW finishing 2nd and Twice Over officially a shoulder behind him in 3rd. Rip Van Winkle usually ran very creditable races, but I always felt was overhyped in big races much more than he ever produced. Given the choice of owning RVW or Mastercraftsman, I would've taken Mastercraftsman and never looked back.
Johnny speaks sense Sea the Stars is the best horse ever, and the best horses win the best races. Frankel can't even win an Arc, which is the best race in Europe.

Johnny Top Man
No wonder he was such a brilliant rider. He's intelligent and just starved himself so he's not a dumb dwarf.
Great man. How many other trainers would stand outside and give you 30-45 minutes of their time?
And talk straight
Definitely should be higher rated than Frankel. STS #1 raced outside his comfort zone and Frankel never done the Arc's distance.

Agree about the cost going to racing it's so expensive..Leopardstown last week 7 euro a bottle of beer is a disgrace
7? Really? Fuck that.

Frankel 2nd lol
Its not a crazy thing to say. He's Johnny Murtagh, he just might know what hes talking about
Frankel was less versatile and ran weaker and slower fields. Sea The Stars beat the highest % of horses running at or above RPS.
