Sea the Stars!! He is a beautiful specimen of a Horse!! His racing style and skills is like, no other!! He reminds me of Galileo, Dubawi, Cracksman, Winx, and so many future legendary horses!! I loveed to see him, come down the stretch!! He was a powerhouse!! Now, in retirement!! He is producing more just like him!! That's something to be proud of!!

Even if there'd been any question from the owners about whether he would've stayed further than 12F, I'm still completely convinced that a smart jockey like Mick Kinane could've sat right off the pace with him at Doncaster and still gotten him home to win the St Leger even going another 2-1/2F further than what he'd ever raced over to that point. He'd already beaten the St Leger 2nd, Kite Wood, handily in the Derby at Epsom and though the winner was a rock solid consistent performer during his career, I couldn't have seen Mastery being able to have coped with his closing kick either. I don't think there's any question Sea The Stars could've become the first Triple Crown winner since Nijinsky in 1970. That said, had he run at Doncaster it would've been a pretty quick and likely a pretty tough turnaround even for him to have run in the St Leger on September 12th and then the Arc on October 4th of that year.

The St leger isn't any advantage to a horse's stud career. The Irish champion stakes is a much more important race
Most St leger winners end up as national hunt stallions in the modern world because they are seen as being just stayers

I agree with you about the St. Ledger.
John Oxx liked to give 4 weeks break between Sea The Stars races.
It's like the American Triple Crown. Only 2 weeks between the races. Northern Dancer just failed by 4 lengths to win the American Triple Crown.
John Oxx said in 2009, that S.T.S. could have won a 5 furlong race (he had so much speed). Sure look at L'Arc, when Michael Kinane hit him, he just took off.

I never really understood why the St leger seems to be so important to people. For a horse to retire to stud it's probably more of a negative on their cv as they usually end up national hunt stallions.

4:39 Ballydoyle raced him 3 versus 1. STS still wins even without a rabbit.
