Is the Census of King David A Bible Contradiction? Part 1

The Census Of David.
2 Samuel 24:1
And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
1 Chronicles 21
And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.
So which was it? Is this a Contradiction?
It's a nugget. Proverbs 25:2 says
"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter".
We Need More Data
Nothing in the immediate preceding context . Why The Lord and the Adversary (Satan) both what a census.
A common interpretation, it that is was David's pride.
Perhaps, but there is much more to the story.
Here is a clue
1 Chronicles 21 Joab’s answer
"why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel".
What is the trespass? Exodus 30:12 tells us.
