It's great that NBC allowed stars from Newhart to host and promote their show. Newhart was on CBS!

The best kept secret in show business is that Peter Scolari was really the talented half of the duo from Bosom Buddies.

Peter Scolari wasn't really allowed to be attractive on Newhart but I always thought he was very handsome on Bosom Buddies (and here - even with that haircut). And Julia is adorable as ever. I saw her on Looking recently and she's just brilliant. I wish they both got more work.

That was a very enjoyable video. I greatly remember first watching this episode back on July 25, 1986 which was the weekend I traveled down to Walt Disney World for the very first time with my family.

I watched it when it aired in '86. these two are more memorable than the music that they hosted for.

I understand this comment was made 8 years ago, but it was a short-sighted nonsensical comment. At least one of the videos was from Madonna. I absolutely LOVED Julia Duffy and Peter Scolari in Newhart. However, far more people around the world (and in the USA as well) know who Madonna is more so that Julia or Peter. Madonna is still the highest-selling female music artist in music history. Madonna became a cultural icon which is a rare feat. Her fame transcended even beyond the music world. Plus, Madonna’s song, “PAPA DON’T PREACH” was a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. I don’t know what other videos played that evening, but there likely may have been videos from Michael Jackson, U2 (with Bono), Prince, George Michael, and/or Phil Collins. All those artists are WAY, WAY, WAY more famous and admired than these two awesome sitcom stars. Btw, I think Julia Duffy was one of the best actresses on any sitcom ever.

He was indeed. However, Julia’s performance was the best of all on Newhart. In fact, I think Julia was perhaps the best female sitcom star other than Jean Stapleton as Edith Bunker.

Julia was my crush as a kid in the 80's. Such a babe, pretty much the epitome of what 80's babes were all about, she was sexy but classy, she could wear a hooded sweatshirt out and make it look hot. She just had "IT", whatever that is. Good times! :)

I watched this episode many times back in the day. I wish they could had included Julie's off the cuff remarks: When introducing Madonna's video "A good wholesome girl." Or when she was asked what advice she'd give a funny, pretty, young blond actress just starting out. "Get another career honey, maybe a producer and give me a job!"

As is the case often (and surprisingly so), some actors look so much more handsome when they are not in a movie or on their tv show. This is the case here with Peter Scolari. Incredible classic lines on that head, more evident in profile shots. // Also of interest: his voice is in a lower register than one would expect with his looks, much as is the case with Dick Cavett. // Julia Duffey is a knockout and seems like a wonderful person.

Not me. I loved Peter on Newhart. All the characters were very good. However, in my opinion, Julia Duffy made the show. She was incredibly great on Newhart. Her comedic timing and delivery were impeccable. Julia was absolutely amazingly funny in the role of Stephanie.
