      I'm not sure if you guys (meaning you & mom), that is a term we use to address more than one person at a time in midwest, ever seen the original "Vacation". It is by John Hughes (the LEGEND!) who also wrote & directed "Uncle Buck", "Plains, Trains, & Automobiles", Ferris Bueler's Day Off", "Home Alone", "Breakfast Club", "Sixteen Candles", Weird Science", and a few other great movies. I know you reacted to the first 3 on my list for sure, but not sure if you have seen "Vacation" or any of the others. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, recommend watching the rest. I grew up in the 70's & 80's and these were very good movies for families and had a lot of heart, humor, and lessons about family, life, and trying to make the best of it. Growing up as a Catholic and still a religious person today, these are great movies that can be a little shocking for some at times, but always very funny, and good messages for the family (most of the time). The 2 that I recommend the most (if not seen yet) are Breakfast Club & Home Alone.
      P.S. I noticed you did a reaction to a scene from "All in the Family", which is in my top 5 TV shows of all-time with Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Better Call Saul, and The Office. All are dramas (except Office) and basically from year 2000 except for All in the Family. Sopranos started in 1999 and ended in 2007.
      All in the Family IMO, is the most groundbreaking, funny, serious, entertaining, and educational show ever made! Your mom probably has seen it, but I think you should see it as well if you haven't. I'm a 50+ year old old school man and that show has made my cry on several occasions. My family is Mexican, African (from Nairobi Kenya), and Polish. We went through a lot of racism, bigotry, and prejudice growing up, but that show helped me in so many ways to deal with most of it.

    Fun fact, Aunt Bethany is Betty boop... She's been the voice of Betty boop since day one including in the movie "who framed Roger rabbit" from 1988

    This is actually the third movie in the franchise. It starts with National Lampoons Family Vacation, then National Lampoons European Vacation, then this one , then the final was the National Lampoons Vegas Vacation. Some actors are different but Clark, his wife, her sister and Eddie are played by the same actors in all 4.

  • @joeymac3777

    This is the first and only vacation movie where the Griswold family is on a staycation, rather than taking a trip somewhere. There are a few others in the franchise too. National Lampoon's Vacation, the first one. Then there is also European Vacation and Vegas vacation being the last one in the franchise. The running gag throughout the Vacation franchise is the kids, Rusty and Audry who are not only played by different actors in each film, but also vary considerably in age throughout. On movie for example, they will be adolescent, and in the next, they're high school age, and so on. Clark and Ellen and Eddie remain the same age range throughout. It's a running gag they decided on.

    • @shaitanlavey
      @shaitanlavey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      2015's Vacation is actually the fifth and final film in the series. Clark and Ellen own a bed and breakfast and Rusty takes his own family to Wally World.

    • @joeymac3777
      @joeymac3777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shaitanlavey That's not the original cast though. I was referring to the original franchise with Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo. There was also a "Christmas Vacation 2" starring Randy Quaid as Eddie like in the other movies. That one also a National Lampoon film. That's pretty much ignored in the fandom, as well it should. It's a terrible movie If Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo aren't in it, it's not part of the franchise in my opinion. 😎

    • @shaitanlavey
      @shaitanlavey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joeymac3777 Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo play Clark and Ellen in Vacation, making it from the same universe as all the others. The inconsistencies in the actors playing the kids has ALWAYS been there. 6 different actors have played Rusty and 5 have played Audrey.
      Just because you didn't like Vacation doesn't mean it isn't part of the series.😘

    • @joeymac3777
      @joeymac3777 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shaitanlavey The kids being different ages was a running gag throughout, I was aware of that one. I had not heard of the 2015 movie. I thought you were referring to the reboot that was done of "Vacation". I will have to find the one you were talking about and give it a look.

    • @shaitanlavey
      @shaitanlavey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joeymac3777 Vacation (2015) IS the movie you refer to as the "reboot". Many people call it a reboot but it is a sequel.

    I don't know if you ladies knew this, but the kid who played Russ, Clarke's son is Johnny Galecki AKA Leonard Hofstetter on the Big Bang Theory!

  • @Anthonylokison
    @Anthonylokison 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The first "Vacation" movie the family went on a summer vacation across the united states to go to a "theme park".
    The second "Vacation" movie the family goes on vacation to "Europe".
    The fourth "Vacation" movie the family goes on vacation to "Las Vegas"
    This movie was the third "Vacation" movie and they spend their vacation at home cause most people are at home
    for Christmas but some people do travel in this case the Inlaws and the kids are taking their Christmas vacation from school.
    Now every Vacation movie has Clark going over board to try and make it the best Vacation ever and of course things go wrong cause Clark tries to do everything to the extreme and that is why this vacation takes place at home cause this is where Clark will be in charge of everything at his own home.
    Also if you watch the other Vacation movies the kids "Russ and Audrey" are played by different actors and actresses in each one and don't know if you recognized him at all but the son "Rusty" in this movie was played by "Johnny Galecki" who plays Leonard from "The Big Bang Theory".
    "Merry Christmas".

    Interesting note about this movie. Chevy broke his pinkie while he was destroying his lawn ornaments because of his frustration about the lights. So he was in quite a bit of pain during much of the film.

    Some people call Christmas break "Christmas Vacation." i.e Vacation from work or school. At least our family did and the people we grew up around. We would say, "We're traveling this year during Christmas Vacation." I always thought it funny to here someone British call a vacation trip "going on a Holiday.'

    Hey Katherine, I was the surprised to see that you posted today given the fact that you don't usually post on Sundays, I hope you enjoyed your Christmas, did you do anything special? I'm not sure if you remember me telling you this, but my family don't celebrate Christmas nor most holidays given the fact that my family are a part of the Jehovah's witness faith, but what I did to celebrate it in a way was I watched all of my favorite Christmas movies, particularly ones that I haven't seen since I was a child, you've mentioned that you really enjoy home alone in how the Grinch stole Christmas, those are also my favorites as well and those were the ones that I watched, besides home alone do you have any other favorite Christmas movies? Mine are home alone 1 2 and 3 a film called jingle All The Way that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and the comedian Sinbad, a Christmas story, and the Santa Claus franchise that starred Tim Allen, and I also enjoy watching Christmas specials as well, I want to take the time to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄 from me to you 😊

    I love, love your reactions, but I've wondered if you've ever reacted to older films around the 50's-60s? Yea, I know the regular viewer would be like blah, boring. But these films are NOT. They are amazing and suspenseful. They are very loved. The films that I'm talking about are Wait Until Dark (1967), The Nanny (1965), and Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (1962). They are more like suspense thrillers and will have you on the edge of your seat. If you watch Wait Until Dark, that's a movie that should be watched with the lights off.

    1. Want chaos? All we need is Eddie. 🤣
    2. GOOF: The lights outside the attic window don't match the pattern with the rest of the house.
    3. My favorite part is when Ellen pulls the chain on the trap door. 🤣🤣
    4. Mae Questel played Aunt Bethany. She was the original Betty Boop and Olive Oyl, This was her last gig.😇
    5. In the big rant scene the other actors had Chevy's lines written on placards so he
    wouldn't get his lines out of order.
    6. Living next door to them must be kind of like living next door to the Bundys.
    7. Fun fact; Chase actually hurt his hand karate chopping the reindeer.
    8. Clark's boss is Brian-Doyle-Murphy (Bill Murry's brother) calls him greaseball when he drops off his gift. Then doesn't get his name right until the very end.
    9. Ellen is played by Beverly DeAngelo. She also played in "Every Which way but Loose" with Clint Eastwood and in "Hair". EWWBL would be a great first time share but "Hair" would give you copywrite issues. Finally, she has a couple of kids with Al Pacino. I like her better than the sales girl.😍😋🥰
    10. This IS my Christmas movie every year
    11. Fun fact: This is the only Vacation where Audrey is older than Rusty.
    12. My picks in order: Christmas, Vacation, European and finally Last Wages.
