I have #4637 of 5000. The sound quality and Frank's performances are great. But I didn't realize it had all of those out takes, and the wife and I were very annoyed with the talking and interruptions. But that's on me, and I'm glad I have it since Sinatra is my all time favorite male vocalist. After all I was exposed to him my entire life so he is an important part of it.
Yes, the outtakes with studio chatter are a surprise if you're not expecting it, but I knew this going in. I think its a plus, because it really transports you into the studio and you get a feel how Frank was in the studio, with other musicians etc.
@@ThePressingMatters I recently got the Sinatra/Quincy Jones album "L.A. Is My Lady" and the difference in his voice is noticeable. He was still good in the '80s but not as fluid and strong. The "L.A." album didn't do him any favors in my opinion because I thought the orchestra was too forward, and for me it's all about Frank's voice.
I received the Sinatra One Step last week and am loving it! Nice review of the recording but I had to laugh when you put on the white gloves!! It’s not a brick of gold, It’s a record meant to be handled It’s sad that people are starting to worry so much about the value of their records these days and just enjoy the music
Well it was a little bit for entertainment value lol. I am not that obsessive about it and it was a sly wink to those that are. However it is a matte cream color slipcase and and hand oils will eventually have it tooling less than optimal. Jackets luke this from years ago look dirty and this is so pretty I wanted to insure it stays that way. Glad you're living the record! Thanks for watching and have a great Thanksgiving Day!
Hey Scott! Happy Thanksgiving! This is my second 1step from Impex. They are at the top of the class for presentation visually and sonically. I already own the 33 but after purchasing the Getz/Gilberto 1step, I had to have this. I left the shrink wrap on both of mine so I agree with you trying to preserve the box 😂. The 33 sounds amazing in itself , but the 45 is a notch up as most 45’s are IMO. These 1steps are the most luxurious records in my collection. For a recoding that is 70 years old, it’s astonishing how good it sounds. Thanks again for another great review!
I'm so glad to hear from you Joe! I was hoping some viewer would have both versions to comment. We’re in agreement, these are top class luxury editions that deliver the hoods sonically. Enjoy the record and thanks go much for taking a moment to watch and comment! Happy Thanksgiving!
I have the single disc Impex, cut at 33. It's musically fantastic, and sounds great given its time. I think it's still in print as well. It got rave reviews when I bought it, and was surprised how good it sounds. Clearly lovingly done.
Hi Jeff! I remember it got tons of positive reviews. I have no doubt its a great edition as well, just without the luxe package. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Impex has pretty much set themselves apart as THE premiere audiophile reissue label. I already have the 33 rpm and will be settling for that. Too many records to buy to be buying duplicate titles these days unless it's music that I am most passionate about.
I think you're good - the original release had rave reviews! I didn't have one to compare, but this is a nice package for those who don't have it or are crazy about luxury design and production values.
Fantastic! I have a lot of his Capitol concept albums on Mofi SACD but I have no Sinatra on vinyl. Been thinking about getting this one and your review has helped seal the deal. Thanks for the wonderful review!
If you've never experienced an Impex One Step, you're going to see why I so excited. I'm exited for you! If you like Songs for Swingin Lovers, its an earlier incarnation of that kind of sound.
@ I have the Getz/Gilberto One Step and it’s absolutely stunning. This one sounds like it reaches the same level of greatness. BTW, what sleeves do you use for the Impex One Steps?

I white glove some special albums, too. 👍
