Not too hopeful for Mitsubishi rn (they have chosen away from motorsport unfortunately), but like Carboy said the new Mazda inline-6 and talks about a souped up Mazda 3 could see Mazda returning to sporty cars beyond the Miata. If we get a new Z soon that'd be even better.

This new Supra has grown on me big time. It's still not a Japanese homegrown car, but with the help of the Japanese aftermarket companies and tuners it will feel much more genuine

50k base price. Assume the dealers are going to mark them up 10-15k in the USA. That's a very costly supra. If the resale value dropped 10-15k I'd definitely pick 1 up used, but then again. BMW's are not cheap to repair.
The A90 stayed true to its root as a tuner. All the other brands out there are in some type of race war to have the highest hp. Toyota/Lexus for life!!!

They spent 7-8 years fitting new body panels on a Z4, and at no point in that time did anyone over there think that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE a manual transmission is a MUST. Shows how little they cared. They took ZERO chances with this car. They did everything they could to cut costs and make sure even if it doesn't sell well, that they'll still make money on it. I wouldn't concern myself with that decision if it was for just any other car.... but to do that, to assemble the FLAGSHIP model that represents your company from a parts bin, then slap a famous name on it, is really unfortunate. I was really excited for the new Supra at first. I loved all Supras that came before, and figured this would be THE perfect car for me to buy new from dealership as a daily driver. Then once I saw it was the size of a miata, can't fit HALF of the things I can fit in my mk3 Supra, only came in auto and was basically a BMW on the inside? It put me off completely. And it pains me to say that every time I see a picture of the car, I know I should be loving the car because it's the new Supra and I should support it, but I just don't. Unlike other people I'm trying to NOT let my emotions overlook the corporate greed.
What's funny, if Mazda had decided to release this as a new RX7, with this exact same design, then we would accept it as the new RX7 without fuss. It looks more like an updated RX7 than a Toyota.

No. But it's not a Supra either. Nissan is a company that was on verge of bankruptcy multiple times, and they still took risks that paid off, substantially, especially the R35 GT-R. A car that started around $50-60k in 2008 up to now where NISMO versions will fetch over $120k. Meanwhile, Toyota, one of the largest automotive companies in the world, couldn't be bothered, this one time, to take a chance once again and make something amazing themselves. Something that would make the company stand out and have the brand become special and interesting to more people who maybe wouldn't have otherwise cared for Toyota. And they say, this may be the last all combustion engine powered sports car they make... ALL the more reason to create something unique that we can all remember for a long time as the last Hoorah... but no. Flash some tunes on a BMW and call it a day....

The thing about this new supra is that it doesn't even remind me of the old one (mk 4) in terms of esthetics. It looks more like an alfa romeo to me.

its cool how the body lines on the front end can seem like they appear unsymmetrical from one side to the other, like the point of the nose can swoop like a check mark one way or the other depending on the angle and light and then perfectly symmetrical again... there such a massive ground for after market upgrades in this thing they did a great job!
