I think they are. But the problem is American system - it only has 2 political parties. In other countries there's many parties. So one radical grop can not so easily overtake half the voter population. Being a republican, you have no choice. The only way is to exit the party. That's why candidates like Nikki Haley who were very anti-Trump, gave their endorsement to Trump as soon as they lost the primaries. The only option for them, if they want to remain Republican is to be silent observers. Not help Trump, but not hinder him either. That's the biggest opposition they can do really. Maybe speak to the media like this.
