    I have to say, there is nothing wrong with the Lee seating die. Or any Lee die really. One thing that I find a little funny is everyone that uses a "Micrometer seating die" always measures with a caliper anyway, and completely reset their die every time they use it. The "Micrometer" becomes a fancy, mostly unused appendage at that point.

    120 class 6.5 creedmoor bullets are fun to load 3k fps is attainable. I have a 120 CX deer load running 2950fps. It is fantastic on whitetail. I have used StaBall 6.5 with good results. TAC is a good powder I have used it in 308win and 5.56.

    I used a proof carbon fiber barrel on an LMT AR10 in 6.5 creedmoor as well for 500 rounds and hoped it would settle and was very disappointed. My experience was the same as yours, as it heats up the groups turn to trash. It is very lightweight and good for hunting in a gun like a Q The Fix where you will shoot maybe 2 shots but in an AR10 where I am going to shoot at minimum 100 in a session over the course of an afternoon , it is a subpar barrel. I’d love to go shooting with ya, I just live over here in the Salt Lake valley as well.

    I know this is an older video, but I thought I would add my findings anyway. My Bergara HMR Premier with its 24" bbl absolutely loves the 123g ELD-M rounds over 43.6 grains of H4350 (Hornady or Starline brass, CCI 200). That is a 1/2 MOA recipe in that rifle all day long. In fact, I haven't found a 140g load that beats it (yet - but I'm still working on it). Interesting though that I'm only seeing 2890 fps with the 43.6 grains, whereas you were hitting 2890 with just 43.0 grains. There does seem to be a bit of a plateau though - in my limited testing with other charges I went from 2822 with 43.0g to 2882 with 43.3g, to 2887 with 43.6. All of those were easy sub-MOA loads, but when I hit 43.6 it was like... viola! These are all under Hornady's listed max load btw.
    Edit - just occurred to me, the differences we are seeing in velocity could easily be the difference between your MagnetoSpeed chrono and the ProChrono DLX I use. FWIW, I have never seen anything close to signs of over-pressure with that load.

    I am sure the question came up before, but do you have changes in precision with and without the magneto speed on the same load? Thx

      @WestDesertShooter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure it makes some kind of difference however the key is I will do my testing with it on acrosss all these style videos so it’s a constant. This is mostly for fun to see what happens so I’m not worried about what it will do anyway

    If you want accurate groups get your H4350 up to at least 44 Grains with the 123s even up to 44.5

    I have a Savage 12FV in 6.5 Creedmoor (26" barrel) with a Vortex 6x24x50 scope and it has been outstanding with my handloads with 120 & 123gr bullets holding 5 shot groups just over .3moa at 100 yards. I use a PPU 120gr OTM or a Hornady 123gr ELD Match bullets pushed by 6.5 StaBall, Win 748 or IMR 4350, they all seem to perform the same in my rifle but the 748 might edge the other 2 out. I have been using reformed Hornady 308 brass, neck turned and annealed with great success (another story) and CCI #200 primers and I don't chase the lands seating the bullets at the base of the neck and using a .003" bump on the shoulder. I enjoy high velocity and very flat shooting at those bullet weights out to 350 yards and I have seen slightly over 1" groups if the wind cooperates and I do my part. Pushing past those distances I might move to a 140gr+ bullet but I'm limited to the range I shoot on but in the 'chuck fields I have made shots out to 450 with the 123's and with the 26" bull barrel on the 12FV it heats very slowly. The thing I really like is that it shoots this well with 30% less powder than my 270 or 25/06 and when you shoot as much as I do it does add up to a good savings along with the PPU bullets at $30/100.

      I wonder if you're having better luck with Win748 as it's burn rate is close to Varget and that burn rate is better for the lighter projectiles (at least according to the Hodgdon manuals). You'll see Varget or StaBall Match for projectiles in the 120-130gr range and then the move to H4350, StaBall 6.5 and similar for 140gr and up.

      I have a RPR in 6.5CM that does really well with the 123 ELD-M's and SB 6.5. I thought SB 6.5 and 140 ELD-M's would do even better, but they're just not quite as good as the 123's with that slower burning powder. At 300 yards the 123 ELD-M and SB 6.5 combo will leave a 5 shot splash pattern on an 8" steel gong the size of a half silver dollar. I have to use H4350 with the 140 ELD-M's to get a group anything like that, which was opposite of what I expected. I've been playing around with AA4340, Superformance, IMR 8208 XBR, Varget, and even IMR 4166 with several different types and weights of projectiles. The closest combo I've had to match the SB 6.5/123 ELD-M'S with any kind of consistency was with 107 TMK's loaded with IMR 4166. That combo gave me 5 shot groups I could cover with a nickel at around 110 yards. The recoil was like that of a 22 mag, and those 107 pills weren't wasting any time getting down range. Of course, shortly after I discovered my rifle like that combo I had learned IMR 4166 had been discontinued. I've also had some fairly decent performance from the AA4350 and Superformance with different weight ELD-M'S. I know COVID had to make me use my imagination a tad bit, and I'm certain luck played a part too, but I've learned 6.5 CM can be pretty darn accurate and consistent with several projo/powder combos. Keep up the great work and Thanks

    I'm trying not to go down the rabbit hole again (as I've done in the past) with my 6.5 C Bergara. With the 147 ELDM's she shoots 5 shot sub 1/2 MOA at 100 pretty much every time. That said, my OC nature says 1/2 MOA is not good enough. I want 1 single bug hole. I love the H4350 propellant. And don't you know I went out the other day with some 140 grain ELDM's that shot really well and I have other powders on hand I can test. Hopefully I will find a rabbit at the bottom of that hole. LOL Thanks!

    Wont the magnetospeed mess with the barrel hamonic when mounted on the barrel? Therefore your groups wont be ideal.

    What would you consider too much headspace. I have 308 brass once fired from my rifle. All same manufacturer. While sizing I'm getting some that are 2 thousands bump like I want and then some that are 7,8 thousands shorter without moving the die. Would like to shoot them again and then get an annealer but not sure if that 8 thousands headspace is safe. Thoughts?
