Bro you helped me so much my grandfather who just passed away passed me down his sv 650s and he engine is completely taken apart time to get to work and get her running!!
Another great video! Makes me want to tear apart my engine. I'm tempted to renew my valve seals and piston rings this winter since it's been burning too much oil.
Unfortunately im the most useless human alive for that since all my personal bikes have always been fi. Literally never changed jets on anything in my life
I got a sv650s gen 1 for my first bike which was in poor condition both externally and internally.. managed to fix couple of basic things but after installing manual camchain tensioners(which probably things didn't go that well with the adjustment) i found the valve clearances being tight again, the bike was dragging and so i said to myself that it was time to start rebuilding the engine. What aspects of a rebuild you could say someone new to this can do and for what things would you suggest to them to seek help from a workshop-expert? Personally, i am in this dilemma between tearing the whole engine down and gaining knowledge through out the process or just straight away paying a workshop to do it and missing out on all that.
Cost of failure is pretty low w motors... if you take it apart and can't get it back together youre out of some gaskets and at worst buying a $4-500 used motor... Im no rebuild expert or motor builder, but doing valves etc. shouldnt be intimidating. Grab a service manual and read through and if you have doubts, ask the forums/reddit sub/fb groups
...you make my day with that video and with your skill and special tools I have appreciated your calm and your modesty...i working with car and motorcycle for more years...i really recognize the right mechanic hands...thank you sir...🔧🔩⚙❤
Greetings from Latin America-Ecuador I need help since my dl650's engine has failed, and I need to buy several spare parts including the crankshaft and the connecting rod arms. Can you help me in which US store can I find them ??? I see in your video that you have that engine with forged connecting rods and the crankshaft too, hence my question.
Hey awesome video. Have a leak on the bottom of the crankcase of a 03 SV650, what do I need to reseal the crank case? Gasket? Anything else I need for resealing the engine after? Tool suggestions?
Between the cases, from one of the seals, or from a side cover? Side cover then gasket, seal then replace appropriate seal, between the cases.... screwed
@@Mad8vCycles it’s towards the middle, sorry i wasnt sure what it’s called. It’s nearly down the middle and it’s a very slow leak but it comes from the case.

sorry for your loss man. im not much on getting a motor good from a rebuild, but grab a service manual and go slow you'll get it.
@@Mad8vCycles thanks brother i really appreciate you
God bless those beautiful Suzuki engineers for giving us this lump of absolute perfection

Good day brother. Can you do a video on carb tuning (SV 650)? What main/pilot jets you run etc.

Not much specialty to it, unlike ducatis and ktms that need a drawer of tools per bike >
Damn I wish I had this video when I was going through my motor a few years ago.
Great job!!. Sadly I don't have all that tools. Thanks for the video

Sv stuff isnt really identical so i dont think ill be much help. But partzilla/ronayers are my gotos for new spares.

appreciate you for this
GREAT VIDEO!, THANKS A LOT, ALMOST DAMAGED THAT LEFTY BOLT.
nice video sir, can you tell me if the crank main bearings can be changed in those cases if need be? Thanks much..... :)
they are. (look at the service manual) there's some color code thing for them to make sure they match
helpt a lot. thx.
Hey, do you know where you got that clutch basket holding tool from. I want to make sure to get the right size.

I have a Suzuki DL650 rear cylinder running bike. And the cylinder and the front do not work, what is the problem
suck squish bang blow.... figure out whats missing. need a lot more detail than what you provided to even guess :P
Try putting dielectric grease on the front spark plug
sv325 issue?
Nothing wrong with that motor DUDE
there wasn't. it came apart BEFORE it blew up because parts are worth a lot more when they're not cracked in half...
