For thighs rubbing when wearing dresses in hot climates, that chapping stick sounds good; but I usually wear a pair of shorter, biker shorts under my dress and it takes care of that plus you’re protected if there’s a gust of wind!
Thanks for sharing your experience
That’s what I do anywhere in hot weather, so much more comfortable!
I usually use the antichaffing (lotion) and/or my shorts.
I probably will never go on a European cruise at my age, but I have to tell you I really enjoy your videos and I swear I learn something new each time. Good job!
Glad you like them! I am so glad you’re here :)
I haven't tried this yet, but I bet the conditioner bar could also be used for shaving. That could save some room for liquids if you don't want to check a bag.
good idea
We always take Body Glide anti-blister balm. Put it on your heel to prevent blisters before they can start.
Great! Thanks for sharing
Ilana, I love you. Getting ready for Alaska Cruise. Your list of cruise items makes it soooo easy! Just click and add to cart. You have relieved my stress 100%.
Have an amazing Alaska cruise!
These are great ideas. For chafing though I wear these shorts. They are butter soft and really
Comfy
I ordered that neck fan and today (Friday, 6/14/2024) it has a 50% coupon, so I got it for $14.24 with tax for my state. Such a steal!
Fabulous!
Have a copy of your passport (face page, signature page, and front cover), as well as all relevant visas!
If you’re making payments by credit card, many of the card readers in Europe will offer you the option of paying in the currency of your own card or in the local currency of the country in which you’re making the purchase (so Euro for most of Europe). Always choose the local currency (So Euro if you’re in the Eurozone) so your own credit card provider will convert the payment to your currency. While it may seem easier to choose the former, the exchange rates will be much worse.
Most European countries (though not the UK and Ireland) are part of the Schengen Zone. That means that you just need to show your passport at the point of entry to the Zone and at the point of departure. You can freely travel across country borders without needing to show your passport once you’re in the Zone. However, many countries do require you to carry proof of identity at all times, so you should bring an ID card, driving license etc.
Love your videos I've been following you for a while and always learn something new
Awesome! Thanks for watching & I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos ☺️
Just got back from a two week land tour and Danube river cruise. The most important things I used and needed was two good pairs of walking shoes, a raincoat and umbrella. One pair of shoes got drenched.
When I still worked and had to wear skirts, I always wore a slip-like material pantaloon under them. We love Amsterdam. Stash Band is a great idea. I have tons of stuff for travel that I’ve ended up not using, but I hate to get rid of them. They seemed like a good idea when I bought them🤪 We love our air tags. We’re kind of OCDish when it comes to traveling, so it cuts down stress when saying to know our luggage is with us somewhere. Thanks for all your videos. We really enjoy them.
I'm going on a cruise to Italy soon. Great information.
Have an amazing cruise!
Yes, can’t wait for the Norway Tips! 🚢🚢🚢
Coming soon :-)
International tip, carry a photo copy of your passport separately. Leave the original in the room safe
Please remember in England/Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland you will need pounds not Euros. We do also accept most credit/debit cards. 🥰
I’ve used neck fans on many trips to the theme parks in Florida and while they do help, I have found that cooling towels are more effective. And they are light and easy to pack!
Good to know!
Great tips. We are heading to the Mediterranean next may. I'll start stock piling all these hacks 😎😎
Nice to look forward to!
My bucket list is soooo big for Europe but was on a NCL Ireland cruise in May - you have got to go if you haven't! Love your videos always🥰 There is one thing that I don't think you ever discussed (correct me if I'm wrong) is getting data for your phone while in Europe.
I'd love to! You're right, I typically take a roaming style plan with my cell phone provider, but it's true there are likely other options that work for people
The weather in the Netherlands is wet at the moment. They predict that it will get beter soon but the predictions at the moment are very iffy and not really accurate.
The mornings are cold but in the afternoon it get nicer so a inbetween jacket is definitely needed. An umbrella is a necessity.
Thanks so much for the info! We've been checking and hoping the more promising forecasts might hold out. I've added umbrellas to my packing list, lol, so thanks again
Cruisers from NON North American locations should definitely grab appropriate power adapters -- iefrom their local socket to US plugs eg AU/NZ to US or UK to US so they can take advantage of the extra US sockets. It can also be worth going the other way
Most devices now auto sense voltage (eg laptops, tablets and phones) but double check first
I bought the neck fan, too!!!! 🚢🚢🚢
Cool! Thanks for sharing
I have a hand held type fan that I use. I got some looks from TSA. Once I introduced it as a "Hot flash interrupter" I got no more looks.
Haha thanks for sharing
Watch the size of your carry on and personal bag if you’re flying to different cities in Europe. Their size requirements are generally smaller than Delta, etc.
Very true, thanks for mentioning. We had a connecting flight and did need to check our carry on luggage (weight), but at no charge
I’m taking my very first cruise next month and your videos have been so helpful in preparing for my cruise “homework” lol.
I must ask though, do rooms come with any coffee makers or water heaters? I have a baby and would like to give her warm water for her formula, but from what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like they do and am considering getting a travel water heater just for this reason.
Excellent ideals
Glad you like them!
Very informative and timely video as we are also heading to Amsterdam very soon and will be on a cruise with ports in Norway! I wonder if we will be on the same cruise?!? I'll keep my eyes open for you :). My husband and I have really enjoyed your videos as we've been preparing for our trip! Wondering what your top three hotel recommendations for Amsterdam would be? Thank you :)
That's awesome! We'll be on HAL Rotterdam. Please say hi if you see me :-)
Hi Ilana, my wife & I love your channel. She noticed on the last two Carnival Cruises that her curling iron only worked at certain times. Do you have a recommendation for one that works while in port and at sea. She greatly appreciates any help. Thank you and God Bless.
Don’t know what moleskin padding is But in Scotland and most of Europe we have things called Compeed. It’s like a band aid but thicker and if skin is broken it heals under the patch
You can buy moleskin in England it’s used a bit by podiatrist but is available in pharmacies
interesting
Instead of shaving cream, use shaving cream bars. Work great and last forever
Great tip!
Reamphy slip shorts from Amazon. I couldn't post a pic.
For goodness sake, if you are traveling period keep all prescription medications in the original containers. Especially if international travel. For OTC make sure that what you are bringing is legal where you are traveling to. An unlabeled pill organizer box is going to raise more questions than original packaging
Amsterdam has banned cruise ships and the cruise terminal is going to have to close. Venice has gone down the same road and Barcelona is considering it also. Each city is doing so to tackle over tourism.
Always take tablets in their original containers or a copy of your prescription. Working in the NHS it is a nightmare when presented with a dosset style container as there was no way of knowing what was what. Also remember that medication names can be different this side of the Atlantic. Tylenol is unheard of over here as it is sold as paracetamol. It is the same with many others.
Avoid white footwear especially trainers as they will instantly mark you out as an American tourist especially if worn with a baseball cap. Comfortable shoes are a must if visiting the cities but avoid white as you need to try and blend in. Found in Greece last year that sandals - without socks worked well in resort areas.
In most of Europe pick pocketing generally does not cross my mind and my wallet stays in the front pocket of my trousers and that has been the case in Rome and Barcelona. The only time that pick pocketing has only been a concern was on the Rome metro where it was like a sardine can. However it pays to be aware of your surroundings in busy areas. There are some places where it is getting out of hand such as the Ramblas in Barcelona. Most of Europe is safe and pick pocketing is not a major issue but it is wise to take the same precautions as at home. When in the Med I tend to take out what I need for each day or couple of days rather than a load of cash. The rest is kept securely in my hotel. Perhaps only take out what you could afford to loose should the worst happen.
My first cruise was in the Med and it went without hitch because it was familiar ground. The Caribbean where I am going to next year may be a different story.
We already stand out carrying our bags/backpacks and speaking only English, so I doubt the white sneakers are really that big of a deal. White goes with everything and that’s why we buy them.
I laugh at the suggestion Amsterdam is going to close their Cruise terminal. Amsterdam City Government just funded 100 million Euro bond to renovate Cruise terminal and seaway locks in May 2024 to be completed early 2027.
Some great points. My cruise leaves from Rotterdam, but it's a short train ride away from Amsterdam so we will be taking an opportunity to visit
Not opposed to the idea, doctors don't write paper Rx's in 2024, traveling for 20 years now and never had a problem, in fact one year we did travel with meds in original bottles and they were stolen (fortunately it was the end of our vacay), we were told by authorities that this allows thieves an easy way to identify the medication and whether it's a med worth stealing, the authorities at that time recommended not using original Rx bottle, lists are nice, since they are in English (from the US) they mean little to a foreign agent
@@bbgg3127 There is nothing worse when someone goes into hospital than being presented by a series of boxes containing tablets and no way of identifying what they are. Seen it in my career too many times. Also most don't know what tablets they are on. Thankfully many GPs issue a list alongside a prescription. Tablets in original containers can also prevent difficult questions at a customs check that would arise if they were in unmarked boxes. American medication lists would probably mean very little to health care professionals outside of the US let along thieves due to the use of non generic names or branding not used by the rest of the world.
Should I leave my engagement ring in the states?
Technically at least in the Netherlands you are required by law to have a valid id at hand even the locals must do so (although a driving license is valid for them). The only time they check is in specific circumstances, and I don't think it will come into play almost ever. Of course, when you do need it, you really need it. Personally I am a bit hesitant to leave my passport at my cabin/hotel room in a foreign country regardless...
Thanks for sharing! Good point, I always have my ID with me
love that pillbox! never seen one like it. Neither of the links for your powerbank chargers work :(
I'll fix - thanks for mentioning
Llana…I didn’t see the Jean jacket listed!
I just checked and it’s in the list of items (in video description box. Tap read more or see more below the video title to expand it :)
Interesting that you are heading to Europe in just over a week. We'll be on the Celebrity Silhouette around that time. Shipmates??
Have an amazing cruise! We're on HAL Rotterdam :-)
@@LifeWellCruised You too! Was actually trying to figure out if I saw you and your family, how I would say Hi.....a huge fan of your content.
i didnt think you should use an adaptor for heating appliances...thought those needed a convertor?
Most do, our agents sister can attest to that as she’s lost at least 2 and she had converters/transformers. I have a hair dryer that is dual voltage but the speed is really low on 220! I think a desk fan would be stronger.
Hmm, I'm not an electrician so I have no idea how it works, but it does ;-) (totally joking but really don't know)
@@LifeWellCruised I suspect you are using a converter, they can also change plug configuration (adapter). Or you have a device that runs on 110 and 220v or just 220v.
Your device will have a sticker that tells you what voltage and frequency it runs at. If it is not listed as both 120v/60hz and 240v/50hz an adapter isn't enough and you risk damaging the device. Adapters just change plug configuration, converters have a transformer to step the power to the correct voltage. One thing to note though is most converters( for travel) also include warnings to not use with high wattage appliances such as hair dryers. There is most likely going to be some type of surge protection built in as well
@@emilynordt153 Best non tech explanation I’ve seen in a while! I learned some of this as a kid as we had transformers on basically skateboards, in Naples, Italy. The way they worked allowed you to configure both sides with voltage in and voltage out. Yep, heavy boogers hence the wheels.
Where are all the links.
You’ll find the links in the video description box. To view this, tap “see more” or “read more”directly below the title
I have the same magnetic hooks and I am wondering if they can be packed in a checked bag? Also can you give me the name of the store in Barcelona where you got your straw bag my cruise is coming up soon.
I have those hooks as well and YES, I put them in our checked luggage without a problem. Won’t get on a cruise ship without them!
The store is LOEWE :-)
I can help but wonder if we are on the same cruise in a week or so!
I'm on HAL Rotterdam. Say hi if you're onboard too
@@LifeWellCruised Will look for you if we are in port together. Oceania Marina.
@@Reed-2big enjoy & please do :)
@@LifeWellCruised hoping your trip is great too.
What is a.good air tag for android
We use Tile Pro. They work great
A little bit to much for a European trip. We get along with the must haves. Adapter, crossbody bag, Passports chafing stick and Visa card. No euros are needed when you have a Visa.
Everyone is different, but I'm glad this works for you. I always bring some cash with me - there are street foods, market/street vendors, times when I like to leave a little tip, plus emergencies
I’m reeealy starting to think half your luggage is made up of bags inside of other bags lol
Lol maybe
From my experience, the only country that requires women to "cover up" in churches is Italy. Spain, France, and England have no such requirements.
If you go into a synagogue anywhere in the world, covering shoulders (ie. when wearing spaghetti straps) is respectful. There can be different religious buildings
I just got neck fans in a two pack from Costco. Can't wait to use one. I never knew about it until I was enjoying a beach excursion in Mazatlan. I met some nice people and we joined tables. One lady had a neck fan and was going into the water. She put it on me while she was gone. WOW!! What an invention!!
It’s an amazing invention! Thanks for sharing
They are great! I got three of them on Temu. The same ones they sell on Amazon for a fraction of the cost.
Reamphy slip shorts from Amazon. I couldn't post a pic.
Thanks for sharing
Looking forward to Norway tips!
Coming soon!
Mack’s are my favorite rap plugs - silicone
Neck fans? Love the idea ❤
Thanks, never seen this before

my apologies - I'll add
I believe we are allowed to bring aerosol cans in checked luggage and up to 3.4 oz in carryon bags.
Just ordered the passport holder. Thanks for the tip.
Glad that was helpful:)
Ilana, Look up the Matador soap containers. They are a bit pricey but they are supposed to make backpacking a bit better.
Good to know
Your videos are truly the best. I learn a new tip with each one. Thank you so much!
So glad you enjoyed it!! I appreciate you watching :)
Looking forward to the Amsterdam/Norway video as we are headed there in late August.
Awesome!!
this used to be a good cruise channel, now it's little more than QVC for amazon. how about more actual cruise tips or reviews, and less product pimping?
I appreciate your feedback. I do 3 videos each week & try to share topics that are relevant to different people in different phases of cruise planning, as well as general interest. I also know this means I won’t please everyone with every video.
My most recent cruise review was just 2 weeks ago, I’ve also shared various tips for first time cruisers, saving money, cabin tips, scams & yes, packing & items that are relevant as some people pack for a cruise. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the next few planned videos, which are not Amazon or product related :)
