If it was me, I’d put on a tortoiseshell pickguard-I love white Fenders with tortoiseshell-and where your killswitch is I’d have a strangle switch. That blank mirror plate is crying for some switches or controls-maybe a rhythm circuit, or even better, a phase switch, with a blend control to pan between the pickups, which can really change the out-of-phase sounds depending on the balance of the pickups-and maybe a series-parallel switch. Or a boost with a level control-or a compressor, if there’s room for a battery.
Looks great! I recently used some Rock Rabbit hardware - JagMarr layout - to mod my own Jaguar. Replaced the upper controls - rhythm switch and rollers with a series switch and a Master Strangle. Angled Wronski 3-way switch on the lower. All the sounds are great and it just works for me. Cheers!
Hi Ryan. I really like your videos. It has to be said, I really like what you've done with that Jaguar. She's a beaty. I might get one of those switches for my Classic Vibe Jazzmaster. Thanks for being one of the good guys.
“ It looks like something a polar bear would play’ - Ryan Burke This is why I love your videos. I might imagine that, but never say it out loud. I love the way your brain works. And most of it comes right out of your mouth for us all to hear lol.
Very cool about the switch plate being able to mount without kludging. If I got one of these, it’d be the Cobain plate, a Switchblade 3x3 toggle, and a strangle switch.
RYAN! PERFECT OPPORTUNITY! I've been toying with the idea of Jagbuckers, basically two Jaguar pickups smacked up against each other wired like a humbucker. My Fax Guitars/Height Coyote basically has that in a slightly more spread out configuration. If I can figure out the design of the combined cover I'll 3D print some and send them your way!
Excellent modification. Maybe you could for the next one, instead of the blank top plate, put a plate with an interuptor like the Jaguar American Pro has, and a 3 position switch at the bottom like the Jaguar Johny Marr. Thank you.🎸👍
All of this is subjective, and ultimately if you are excited by the guitar, that's what you should do. For me, I don't love the white body with the light blue pickguard and the aged white component plastics. I personally think the mix of white and off-white isn't great, but that was Fender's decision ultimately. The light blue adds to that mix of not-quite-white blend that's going on, and I've never been a fan of that for my own instruments. If it were me, I would be getting either matching white pickguard covers, or finding a really high contrast color for those parts. But also, this isn't my guitar, it's your guitar. And if you're excited by your guitar, I'm happy to see the mod.
You did exactly what I thought of by making the slider a toggle for a kill switch. I thought I wasn't going to like the blue pickguard, but it actually looks pretty good.
I dig the white body w/black pickguard personally. I’m into old school hand painted pinstripes on my guitars to give them some individuality and personality:
now its "xtra surfy" duuude!!! lookin great brother! i have a squier strat with a "floating/barely attatched" screw...welcome to the club hahaha!! ill properly fix it sometime tho....
I think it would look cool if you swapped all the plastics (besides the pickguard) to match the cream coloured pickups. Cream knobs, cream tuning keys, you can even get white slider switches (which quickly turn to beige) and cream pickup selector switch. It would kind of lean into the vintage vibe and brighten up the look a bit.
I'd love a similar video on the Jazzmaster player II. Maybe show how to put the rhythm circuit on it. Jazzmaster, 22 frets, rhythm circuit: my dream guitar.
Fun video! This answers my question as to getting a Classic Vibe now or waiting a bit for a Player (I have a Meteora to sell), besides your other video on the topic. My only complaint on this mod is that the yellowy pickups kinda clash with the blue imho, but then again they also tie in the headstock so that’s good too. Here’s a question: are those new plates nickel plated? You mention chrome but I thought the Jags have nickel hardware ( I’ve had to match countless bathroom and kitchen fixtures so I know you don’t want to mix nickel and chrome-picky picky picky!!). Also…heheh love that lil bit of King Missle at the end. That got me riled up to make one of these XD
Glaciuar! 🏔Loving color combo. Reminds me of Ringo Deathstar/Elliott Frazier's white Jazzmaster with a cyan aluminum pickguard. There aren't enough nonstandared color guards in use out there. I've been wanting a "clown barf" confetti one for a long time but the material is either hard to find in large enough sheets or you have to order a ton of it 😞Thought about asking Decoboom if they could or would ever consider making a version of the old Teisco floral vine pickguards too. Always loved those, and all the color possibilities could be really fun.
You going to mod the Affinity? I cut up the original scratchplate to fit the upper control plate. Leaving the switch as is. Still have to route the cavity. Added a neck P90.
I think the black pick guard would look better with nonaged pickup covers, but I think the same with the blue pick guard. I guess I just don't like those yellowy covers.
I know it's about the project. I'm more about the project than I am about playing personally. But just for general info for whoever. If you have a glossy pickguard, or if you feel like the poly on your guitar is too shiny, some fine steel wool will take that shine off without messing anything up really.
Make the instrument your own! =) My preference is for a 4-pole 5-way switch wired with series and out of phase like StewMac's "Wiring diagrams for Telecaster Super Switch mod". I like my pickup connection to be selected all in one switch. I then save extra switches for series/parallel humbuckers or humbucker coil swapping.
i dont know if i'd have gone with that particular color for the pickguard, but i also can't think of what i'd go with instead.... it's still cool. i swapped a pickguard on my CV jazz, and the bridge post holes didn't exactly line up, but i just ignored it because it didnt effect functionality of anything, and you can't tell when the bridge is in. swapping out the pickguards surely is the easiest funnest way to customize guitars.
the reflection on the upper metal horn plate in the thumbnail made me think you had cut a hole clear through it and put a transparent cover over the top. fun build though, would be neat to see you take it further.
awesome trem and mustang bridge time, a nice dark tortoise pickguard would be my go to but a normal white one would also look killer like in johnny marr's jag, also I'd like to hear some stuff from your punk band is it anywhere online?
I know that metal plate is begging for some sort of function but wouldn't it be great to turn it into a mirrorball-type reflective thing and have a light pointed at your guitar at some point of your shows? It'd make a pretty great light effect
Kind of sad to see there's no top routes for the mod switching, if one would like to add them....sigh...the Squier CV Jags are still the more Jagman's Jags. Cheaper with a couple of upgrades they can still be better for less cashola. Awesome vid and love the look of the finished guitar.
Give the people what they want to see and route that sucker! 🙏 That shiny plate is BEGGING for a rhythm circuit. 😊
Looks good. You make everything seem so fun. Like you are everyone's friend while you are over to hang out for music.
The mods really did spice up the look of the guitar, awesome color combination
Way better after. Though I think I personally would swap the cream pickup covers with white or maybe black for contrast. Super cool.
I agree. Black would be better. With a black wiggle stick cap.

You are an artist, absolutely fantastic aesthetic taste! Congratulations on your restyling, like you I love colors.
Duuuudeeee sooooooooo satisfying ❤
THAT, right there.....is one of the coolest looking guitars that I have ever seen.

Looks fantastic.
I like the series parallel idea.
It’s great on the Baja Tele.
Very cool about the switch plate being able to mount without kludging. If I got one of these, it’d be the Cobain plate, a Switchblade 3x3 toggle, and a strangle switch.

It’s so much freaking better now, man!
So I wonder was this guitar played through a Princeton? If so, how many? I guess we’ll never know 🤔
Love the new look and that kill switch is super rad!!! Nice upgrade.
4:19 thanks for making me think about my mortality
I can hear Phil McKight screaming “Use a reamer! Not a drill!!”
I thought the same, oof get a Dremel man
Good job! Being the weird color guy you are, I'm surprised you didn't get the green or yellow ones. Those new colors are crazy coool!
That's a freaking gorgeous look! Love that color combo! ❤
guitar looks a lot better now!
would look even better after the "two princes" jingle plays
i like the new mods the mirror looking pick guard thing is a good idea , I could use it to check my make up before going on stage...
ayyy 93 duo sonic reissue gang, I recognized that switch immediately, thanks for showing me who makes it I've been looking for a new one.
Looks custom now, the only thing that matters is if you like it more. That is the real test.
Thanks for doing this.
“There’s enough wood here to mount this in.” That’s what she said. 😅
The after results are pretty cool :D Love the color :D
I love the changes ! Much more punk looking! Fits you 😃
I think the value of the guitar just went up after your mod. Looks awesome 👌
that top plate really makes it look like a jag, rather than a generic offset thing
I dig the white body w/black pickguard personally. I’m into old school hand painted pinstripes on my guitars to give them some individuality and personality:
Yeah dude this awesome! Black pickup covers would look so sweet I think
I like the mod but most importantly it obviously brings you joy. Total win!
Competition stripes would be cool.
Definitely After is better. Looks good Ryan and I like those chrome toggle switches as well.
now its "xtra surfy" duuude!!!
lookin great brother!
i have a squier strat with a "floating/barely attatched" screw...welcome to the club hahaha!! ill properly fix it sometime tho....
Looks better. Maybe some different color pickup covers? 🤔
Great video! I love the improvements.
after. so much better. looks amazing actually.
Looks way better!!
I think it look cool as hell! And tone holes are so underrated! 😂🎉
It is great for hot days...cooling down! 🙂
Love the colors!
Looks and sounds great!

I like it, it looks really surfing!
It's really interesting that it's routed that large usually jaguars are only routed for exactly the size of a jaguar pickup
Nicely done, very cool.
I came for the time lapse music, stayed for the mods.
I'd love a similar video on the Jazzmaster player II. Maybe show how to put the rhythm circuit on it. Jazzmaster, 22 frets, rhythm circuit: my dream guitar.
awesome make over...looks great...i request a strangle switch be done!
Rock Rabbit ROCKS!

A single pickup selector switch in the upper chrome plate would be cool
After is waaayyy better on all levels.
One day I'm gonna have the motivation to finally do a cover of the slidey bass song and submit it to the pod as an outro song, one day.
For a guaranteed unique look, swap the pickup selector and output jack.
Glaciuar! 🏔Loving color combo. Reminds me of Ringo Deathstar/Elliott Frazier's white Jazzmaster with a cyan aluminum pickguard. There aren't enough nonstandared color guards in use out there.

Nice styling, my dude
Looks great!

Added a neck P90.
@@nieko3038 yep! I have a pickup set on the way.
@@60CycleHumcast cool. Looking forward to the video 👍🏻
I wouldn’t be too angry if fender released it stock like that, with all the chrome and such.
Looks great, yea cool, very cool, like that pickguard.😊🎉
I liked it before, but it's really sharp now.
I think the black pick guard would look better with nonaged pickup covers, but I think the same with the blue pick guard. I guess I just don't like those yellowy covers.
A lot of people have been bad mouthing the player 11 Jaguar, and Jazzmaster, I really like them, and I'd be more than happy to own one!
"It looks like something a polar bear would play." For some reason that made me laugh pretty hard.
I like the pick guard, it's unusual.
A naked wood base with that blue pickguard????! Uuuhhmmmm I’m thinking yesb
I know it's about the project. I'm more about the project than I am about playing personally. But just for general info for whoever. It looks minty fresh

That thing is beautiful!!!
I like it better now!
if you could find that same color pickguard as a peraloid that would be even better! but I like the "reverse" colors look.
Sweet guitar.
looks great
I'm not into modifications, but that looks supercool
i dont know if i'd have gone with that particular color for the pickguard, but i also can't think of what i'd go with instead.... it's still cool. i swapped a pickguard on my CV jazz, and the bridge post holes didn't exactly line up, but i just ignored it because it didnt effect functionality of anything, and you can't tell when the bridge is in. swapping out the pickguards surely is the easiest funnest way to customize guitars.

Looks pretty good, but I think a Mint/black/mint version of the original one would be cleaner and less "cheese log". I liked the cleaner look before.
Love it!!
king missile! love it!
awesome trem and mustang bridge time, a nice dark tortoise pickguard would be my go to but a normal white one would also look killer like in johnny marr's jag, also I'd like to hear some stuff from your punk band is it anywhere online?
I'm usually a fan of pickguards being darker than the body
After looks better
I know that metal plate is begging for some sort of function but wouldn't it be great to turn it into a mirrorball-type reflective thing and have a light pointed at your guitar at some point of your shows? It'd make a pretty great light effect
Sweet shirt
I'm still torn on whether or not I want to swap the bridge pickup. I love it as an effect, but I still pine for a something warmer.
@@purrpocalypse I’ve been thinking about a splittable hot rail. Super thin or fat sounds with the flick of a switch.

I like the build quality of the player ii better than the cv.
Good looking
genius lol , looks 10x better.
Too much fun😊
You should etch in something on the blank plate
