YO my man you should try the 8Bitdo SN30 (i think). It's a SNES controller but has 2 joysticks. It's also like £20 cheaper than the Switch pro controller (which would also make a great video ;) )
If this game originally came out with a snes controller we'd end up with a bunch of people saying "this controller is probably the best controller that's ever been made."
If this game originally came out with this controller then the game and it's controls would be molded around it and would have had a completely diffrent experience. So no, it wouldn't.
Nope, most people agree the GC controller is one of the best ever made. Xbox made their controllers (post original Xbox) based on the GC controller. Xbox controllers are widely considered the best.
I have the same controller that was used in this video, and I actually like it more than an original SNES controller. The buttons are about the same, but the D-pad has a nice click-ey feel to it. Still, I wouldn't use it for competitive fighting games.
You need to upload more! You have gotten me addicted to changing GameCube controller parts and your information you provide about sellers is very helpful.
>"cheap third party controller" >specifically using a good SNES 3rd party controller >specifically using a recognized name brand third party controller
Really like this series of you playing melee with different controllers. Hoping you keep up the good content wheter it is playing melee or just anything related to melee.
Great job actually beating someone with that. You talked it down a bit, but the Buffalo is actually a great controller. SNES controller that is, it's obviously not suited for Smash. Would be interesting to see you review the Hori, PDP and/or PowerA GC controllers for Switch.
It's way better than playing with the SNES one. You have an actual analog stick which allows you to walk and tilt attacks, the C buttons have no problem replacing the C stick and you also have two bumpers, the only problem is that the GC has 3 bumpers so you have to sacrifice the Right shield button to grab and use the Z button on the N64 controller as the L button to dodge, which can be annoying if you're used to dodge with R but once you get used to it you should have no problem.
@@ironpunch22 if your hand is on the handle of the analog stick then you won't be able to use the "L" bumper at all. Unless you swtich handle, but that's just... well good luck with that
it’s funny because as an adult I am just now finding out that professionals use the C stick. On my block you got clowned for using the “handicap stick”.
Sparky nice. Again though, if you used this stick back in the day you got clowned for using it. Wasn’t just my group either, seems it was a popular opinion
funnyfunkinmonkey Probably bad players that read the old Nintendo employee conversation about it. The C-Stick is nearly required for consistent advanced aerials/SHFFL U-Airs and Shield Drop FFL Aerials.
Meta Knight sounds like it was truly meant to be used as a handicap. You can perform all maneuvers achieved with the c-stick without actually using it.
@@funnyfunkinmonkey Except you can't. You can't do a backwards drifting fair without it, and you can't fast fall UAir, and you can't do no charge smash attacks with consistency. It's super weird to consider c stick cheating. That'd be like saying jumping with x or y is cheating.
Back in my senior year of high school, I only had one GC controller and a 8bitdo SNES controller, so I always let my friend use the GC one and I used the SNES. He was really good, he competed in some local tournaments and got best Shiek and Samus in my area, but because I had Melee on a laptop, we played daily during lunch the entire year (and some of the previous year) and well I kinda got stupidly good... at least as good as you can be using a SNES controller. I had to play around not being able to wavedash all that well or being able to tilt on command, but pro tip: holding left or right while doing another action will buffer a walk, and that's really the only way you can do tilts on this.
As a little suggestion, you could've let the controller on the table and use it as an arcade stick instead. Takes some time to get used to it, but it could've been less painfull than havin to claw-it 😅
This is kinda funny for me, because i've been using an snes controller for melee in the past month to handicap myself vs a friend who's now to the game. It's pretty fun
I really liked how the editing hits all the highlights without you being all overreacting and also how you would laugh off sd’s that’s a lot of respect
I am curious, there were gamecube controllers from manufacturers like Hori that went into the port on the bottom of a wii controller. Could you review them for funzies? I wonder how good they are and if they are worth for their parts, shells, ect
I would use a heat gun on low heat or hairdryer to heat it up, and then gently roll it on a table with baking paper and another sheet of paper on top with a flat hardback book or just your hands, for about 2~3 mins. Go slow and gentle and DONT pull on the cable, you can break the copper wire internals.
You should try this again with one of the 8bitdo snes pro controllers. Its an SNES controller but with all the inputs of a standard modern day controller.
you say that this is somewhat of an experimental video, which I find interesting - because so far I've enjoyed all of the videos I've seen from you. I hope you'll do something somewhen soon!
Hey I play smash melee over the others but Never seen that version, wat is that version u have there, and I also would like to know if u could do another video on the "Wii classic controller with handles" with all the buttons just switch the movement to depad... On that controller... I always end up using that in the middle if battle and it gets me killed.. Wondering if it can play just as well with the depad instead of the analog. Bc you looked great, some odd movements but im glad u still did the movements. I feel u could get used to that. If u had a better working controller.
yo, use one of the triggers as a modifier button, i mean, you don't use both triggers right? If you do use both, well, you don't need a Z button if you have L/R+A, so you could map the modifier to a face button. Also, idk if it's possible, but it'd be cool to make one of the triggers a button that, while held, turns the face buttons into a c-stick. So my ideal setup (since I never use the L trigger) would be to set L to c-stick modifier for my face buttons. I would set B to attack, Y would be jump, X would be specials, and A would be a run/walk modifier. That way, with a bit of a learning curve, I could maximize the functionality of my controller.
I heavily recommend you try playing Melee with a Dualshock 4 controller. I perfer it to a GCN controller and you get 4 (or 6 if you use touchpad) extra buttons
ill try to do both! and working on videos right now! things have just been pretty busy (without getting into personal details) more videos to come very soon though! :)
