I recently have been working on my 1960 M3 after taking the organ out of storage after 20 years. This had the front cover still on it so the insides are very clean. Tube checked and replaced as needed amp tubes. Hammond oil to left cup for scanner and motor, both middle and right cups had three doses of filling cup, that was Friday night. Saturday checked and had some squealing bearings so I left it alone. Tonight, I realized that some heat might get the oil to flow better. After ten minutes of going up and down the generator on the bottom side slowly back and forth with a hair dryer on high, I started the organ and had NO SQUEEEALING!! 😎 When I shut down the generator it ran for 16 seconds until it stopped. I imagine this might be rare? But if your organ is squealing give it some loving heat! Johnne in Clallam Bay, WA.

My Hammond was doing the same thing when I first got it, after researching a bit I found out the tonewheel generator has an oil well included with its ingenious lubrication Wick system, I learned about a oil from the Aerospace industry named kr oil which penetrates really well and helps loosen up the goo in the oil well as well as on the lubrication string bundles, now I just give a couple drops in the funnels that feed the oil well and it never dries out anymore

    Hi Jeremy,
I find this video series is really helpful and am encouraged to try and revive my poor old L-100.
May I ask where you found that narrow oiling tube/bottle?
    Thanks! Lee

It's called a hypo oiler, needle tip oiler, precision oiler, or similar, and can be found at lots of craft stores or on Amazon. I bought mine from Howard Piano Industries here: www.howardpianoindustries.com/hypo-oiler-non-clogging-ca-glue-applicator-1-2-oz-set-of-3/

What kind of oil did you use?

I show it in one of the videos in this playlist. There's a particular Hammond oil that doesn't get sticky over time like other mineral oils or sewing machine oils do. If you search for Hammond Organ oil you'll find it easily.
