Great video again. However, the problem with these videos is that the modification scheme is not shown - in the video it looks like soldering completely different IO contacts and many people ruin their sources this way.

@ Валяются. Только не вижу смысла практического в этой переделке. Ноут запитать от неё не получится. Телефон заряжать можно и от 5В линии. До лабораторника такой поделке как до Китая раком. Да и покупка конденсатора на 50В и потенциометра по деньгам выйдет не дешевле DC-DC понижайки с алика.

А, я уже видел как Вы переделываете компьютерный блок питания в зарядку для автомобильных аккумуляторов. Только одного не понимаю, зачем припаивать выключатель на зелёный и чёрный провод, если есть выключатель сети на самом корпусе? Ну, спаял зелёный и чёрный вместе и всё - на одну деталь меньше.
Черный с зеленым не нужно спаивать. В этом блоке есть защита по току и от к.з. Поосле срабатывания защиты, чтобы активировать блок нужно замкнуть и разомкнуть зеленый с землей. Лучше кнопку с возвратом поставить.
замыканием этих проводов БП запускается, и лучше ставить кнопку без фиксации с нормально разомкнутыми контактами, как это сделано в компах а то что на корпусе отключает общее питание
I don't know if those supplies have sense lines like proper bench supplies but if they do, you should consider connecting it to the output, near the load. I didn't like seeing the big voltage drop when you connected the halogen. Yes, that might have just been voltage drop in the lines &/or the contact resistance of the croc clips but that is precisely what sense lines are for - to compensate for drops in output lines and connectors to ensure the full voltage is delivered to the load.

If you put the potentiometer as in movie, you can control the power until 20 amps, if you put at the output wires you can obtain only few miliampers of regulated voltage and can burn the potentiometer.

Actually there is more power on the 12V line, just do the math: (5V) X (20A) = 100W and (12V) X (10A) = 120W If you raise the voltage, the amps will drop to maintain the output power of 120W, and if you drop the voltage, the amps will raise in the same proportion. (Basic electronics) 😉
@MECANICANN so the power supply you're working with must be something different every power supply I've ever removed the 12 volt line with the least powerful. So here's a question for you if the 12v line can produce 20 amps what are they using it for in the computer? In my experience the old school computers use the 5 volt line as the main power supply now ic chips are running at 3.3 volts and that has become one of the main sections of the power supply.
@@josephmaughan1635 Yes, old school computers used 5v as the main supply but in more modern ATX supplies the 12v rail now has the most power output by a long shot. The 12v rail is being used to mainly power the CPU and GPU card, with the motherboard regulating the voltage as required. The 20 amps on this 12v rail is low compared to current ATX power supplies. The PSU in this video is still a very old school PSU, but it's easier and safer making the 12v rail go up to ~16v, rather than the 5V rail where there are possibly many more low voltage components that'd need to be changed. It'd probably be impractical to do, or may even be virtually impossible. That's my understanding of it.
@rogerwilco5187 okay here's my point in the video of example the person switched from one type of bulb to another progressively getting larger meaning using more current it was obvious did the power supply was sagging if it were a 12-volt source with a regulator Incorporated in it like the old 5 volt line there would be no sagging. Does not matter the scheme, you should search for voltage regulator and this to be replaced by a variable resistor.
