If Steven Gerard wants to stay a LFC legend, he needs to completely stay away from the club from a managerial perspective until the expectations have either massively dropped, or unless he is actually world class as a manager. He's failing in a saudi league with unlimited money, he will not even get top 10 in his first season as a LFC manager.

Couldn't agree more. He was shite at Villa who drastically improved when Emery took over and is now managing in a poor standard league. Just because he was a great player doesn't mean he will be a great manager as proved with Frank Lampard.

Much respect to Sig. Garcia. Nice to see him. I loved him as a Liverpool player. YNWA
For me, though, Alonso is the choice. Gerrard had the passion to make it work at Rangers (I'm a Red first, but I am a Glaswegian), but Xabi was a player who understood how to make others play around him, despite "not being the quickest " (not my words, Rafa Benitez').

I think Luis Garcia has it the wrong way around. It’s almost inevitable for any manager coming into receive added pressure following Klopp, but Alonso is someone the fans will get behind 100% and back from beginning to end because he’s a former legend of the club. He will be given time and if there’s one fanbase that will award him that time and go thru growing pains it’s Liverpool. Not sure any of the other potential candidates would get that same level of support.
Also side note: don’t want Gerrard anywhere near the club as manager. Especially after his career suicide move to Saudi

I don’t agree with Luis Garcia here. I thought he used to talk sense but Liverpool are a club that doesn’t change managers often. Klopp was the 22nd manager in 130+ years of the club. Next opportunity might only arrive after 10 years for Xabi if he gives this a pass? Does he really want to wait that long and what if his stock drops? I don’t think Luis Garcia would pass up the opportunity if he had a chance so bad advice right there

Roberto De Zerbi is the only manager who can replace Klopp's kind of football, which shifted from quick transitions to progressive possession futbol with Fabhino & Firminho at the helm & now to a mixture of both styles with MacLister at the pivot. Klopp was all about tempo & intensity & as an Arsenal fan, i feared them more than city. I have never seen a team whose base is transition become so adept at possession, especially when Van Dijk signed. (Real possession, not Unai Emery measured kind) De Zerbi has also shifted from heavy possession to an an interpid mixture of quick transition with possession fundamentals. Futhermore, De Zerbi, with his Italian pedagocal base, can improve players technically in the same way Klopp was able to marry the athletic and aesthetic. Not surprised to see Llana and Milner shift to Brighton. The only other manager i can see is Unai Emery. Xabi Alonso is not the guy because his brand of futbol has more of a La Liga sensibility and tempo.
The main issue with Klopp is that his futbol was perfect for the Anfield crowd, an almost perfect marriage and it will be difficult to find that tempo of futbol ever again. He's quite singular, an august manager who futbol i will miss.

@@BelfastManUtdTherapy He's a legend absolutely, Paisley is a legend but he had an easier job compared to klopp. Liverpool was the team that big names wanted to join in the 80's, but was not very appealing until Klopp joined. The number of players who snubbed the club like David Silva would have made a big difference if they had worn the reds shirt. Klopp changed all that, the fact that VVD could have his picks of clubs but chose to play under his management is an example of his appeal and impact. He changed a team that was out of the PL in January to one that got over 90 points four times.

Steven Gerard obviously has nothing to prove being a manager, then with all mybrespect Stevie is not the right person to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool Manager. In my personal opinion, Xabi Alonso is the most suitabke one as Jurgen Klopp replacement. He has everything it takes to continue the success of the clup for yeara to come.

Stevie G are you FKM. Why does everyone assume they go out and get a manager. So this talk the last few weeks of how great an in game manager Klopp is. Is everyone suggesting his in game adjustments are solely due to him. I don't think so and I'm sure Klopp would be the first to admit Pep Ljinders plays a huge role and not because of Klopps humility. For me the biggest part of the Liverpool dynasty of the 70s through the 80s was continuity going from Shankly to Paisley to Fagen to Kenny. No coach knows THIS Liverpool better than Pep Ljinders. Klopp has done more than just win trophies, he has rebuilt the identify Liverpool lost in the 90s, why go outside the organization when you have someone there who was clearly groomed to take over from the master and helped him build it.

Very hot take: Liverpool should go for Stefano Pioli, as he's among the very best in establishing a relationship with the players, the club and the fans. And, moreover, he's a coach who never sits down as he constantly tries to improve every single aspect of the game with a very meticulous approach. He's given a career and a name to Leao, Theo Hernandez, Bennacer, Tomori, Maignan, Thiaw, and he's revived players such as Giroud, RLC, Pulisic. Not to mention that he's the very first coach who imposed himself on Ibra with great results, as Zlatan speaks very well of Pioli. Then, he's worked fantastically with young players as he's given them a chance to prvoe themselves, failing very rarely. It's a shame that Milan fans (especially on Twitter) don't appreciate him and want him out: they have a world class manager and don't understand he's been doing a miracle with that team.
