    I have about 200lbs of audio equipment in the back of mine on stock suspension and surprisingly it didn’t noticeably squat at all. Hopefully when I get bigger wheels and tires i don’t have to upgrade, but if I do this’ll be my guide for sure.

    I have 2 to 4 inch rear shakes on my h3. I thought about airbags but I was worried about the technical part of operations on the vehicle. Overall I'm satisfied but you have alot of hardware in the back and those wheels are beefy too. Keep us up to date on the mod. Thanks.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you are probably good on your H3. I really needed these because my leaf springs were old and I can't get replacements without getting them custom made and that is expensive.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! Later down the line I might do a SOA. How do the airbags work offroad? Haven't tested them yet but I am pretty confidence in them since I did the flex test and have spare parts.

    • @TheLC73
      @TheLC73 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@4lowmode I've had them 2 years now and no issues at all on the trail. I roll with my spare tire, tools, spares etc in the bed and the bags have made I big difference.

    I really like your project and the attention to detail in the air bag mating to the cups. With both bags connected together and with 40 psi in the system, you won't exceed 40 psi in the system regardless of which bag you compress or extend. Be careful with the on road handling of having both bags connected together, you can get undesirable handling effects if making evasive maneuvers on the road. It will essentially act as a collapsing leaf spring when weight is put on it. You could easily put a petcock valve on each side of the "T" fitting to make each air bag independent for highway driving. It will handle much safer.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! Yes one of my Hummer friends who did this air bag install before me did mention that you could feel a shift in the bags if you were to take a corner fast. For the most part, I really don't drive my H3 on the highway. This is my project vehicle and a not a daily driver so I am not too worried about the airbags. I actually spend way more time working on it in the garage than then I do driving it lol.

    • @georgecarousos6735
      @georgecarousos6735 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@4lowmode Ok, glad you know about the potential on road handling quirks. You can also do the lock out trick on the rear bags to make them independent as needed....this can help the front end articulate better and or put more ground pressure against a rock when rock crawling. If the rear articulates too much, the front won't have as much weight on each corner for traction against high traction surfaces.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have, but that is a much bigger project that I really don't want to take on right now. At the moment I have over 40 different projects that I want to do. Also there is not a specific H3 SOA kit, so I would have to find all the parts myself by digging through forums and what not. A SOA definitely a great option to do, but it is definitely more complicated and time consuming.

    Great video. I agree 110% the air bags and 4’ spacers helped it a lot & @ a cool 80 PSI you’ll be fine love you’re Hummer it’s an absolute beast. Also you’re rear cargo set up with your tools give me an idea lol.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yeah they sure did. I am actually running about 40 PSI in the airbags. 80 PSI is way too high for me to run both bags at, but it is an okay amount if I am flexing the suspension at 40PSI and send another 40PSI to one air bag.

    • @G-MON3Y
      @G-MON3Y 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That bumper is from Road Armor. They are huge aftermarket steel bumper manufacturer. They did make this bumper specifically for the H3, but it looks as if they no longer offer it on their website. I am sure if you were to call them they would still have the design laying around and could make you one though. Back in the day it costed $2350 but that was in the 2010s and since then the price of steel has gone up. So I could imagine price could be somewhere in the $3000 to $4000 range. These bumpers are very rare to see on H3s. I think I have only seen this bumper on like 3 or 4 other H3s. Back when Road Armor developed this bumper for the H3, they showcased it on the hummer forums and everyone immediately complained it was too expensive, so for that reason not that many people bought them. Road Armor's main customer demographic is owners of brand new pickup trucks and jeeps. You see these bumpers on a lot of $100K+ show trucks and high dollar offroad builds. There is just not a lot of H3s out there in general and far less who are willing to spend that kind of money on a bumper since the most H3s have a market value of somewhere around $7K to $25K depending on condition and spec so not a lot of H3 owners bought them. That being said, it is an awesome bumper and probably the most well built and good looking aftermarket bumpers out there.

    Would the spring over axle give a rough ride? Also would it be able to carry a heavy load comparable to the air bags?

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The airbags will probably ride smoother than a SOA. Air bags are going to be MUCH better for towing. The bags I have are rated for 5000lbs per pair.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An add a leaf would definitely not lift the H3 3 or 4 inches in the rear. A SOA is definitely a great option, but it is far more complicated and time consuming to do. That's just a project I don't want to take on at the moment because I have so many other modifications and maintenance I still need to do. Its a never ending project lol.

    Hey man! Thankyou very much! I have a problem with my h2 air suspension, sometimes im driving very normally and it just goes down, its very weird, when i say down, i mean very down, like almost touching the fenders, do you know why this happens?

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You must have a leak somewhere or your compressor is not working. I don't have an H2 myself so I am not sure. This air bag setup on my H3 was completely custom so your factory H2 suspension will work differently.

  • @n3x0n54

    Very nice build! I like it. What are those rims you have on the truck? I also ike the bilstein rear shocks with remote reservoir. I have the bilstein 5160 front shocks mounted on my H3 but I never found the matching rear shocks that you have. What series are those?

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The wheels I have are the 18x9 KMC RG2s. They are Baja Beadlock inspired wheels. The shocks I have are the Bilstein 5165 Series with Reservoir. The exact model number of the shocks are: 25-175783. These shocks are actually extended in length compared to the stock H3 shocks since I have the 4in Rancho Lift. If you have the Rancho lift, you need to buy longer shocks. I originally had Rancho shocks that were designed to work with this 4in lift kit, but they had gone bad and a lot of people don't like the quality of Rancho shocks. To find these Bilsteins, I basically had to do a lot of searching to find a shock that had the same extended + compressed lengths and also shocks that used the same mounting style. I also needed to use a bar pin eliminator on the top of them. Overall I am pretty happy with these new shocks. I am also really happy I did these air bags so these shocks won't be compressed so much all the time due to the sagging.

      Not sure what you mean. Did you find a H3 specific airbag kit? I have seen them before online but I have never seen anyone buy one so I am not sure if the kit is actually bolt on.

  • @Gigantortacoma4x4
    @Gigantortacoma4x4 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m surprised you didn’t use any locktite on those bolts. Also are those bolts grade 8 ?

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope they are not Grade 8. I couldn't find Grade 8 bolts in a 1.5in size that had full threads. All the 1.5in bolts I saw at the hardware store had sleeves on them, making it useless for my application. Also I am really not worried about putting on locktite on these specific bolts lol.
