Thank you for these. I live here, in one of the suburbs. I moved away from here for about 9 years, came back, and discovered that downtown was full of new, glitzy buildings. I'm just glad that they rehabbed and revived some of the old ones that had stood vacant for so long. This is the first place I've ever come back to after having moved away.
I went to college at Case Western Reserve from 1966-1970 when graduated. Last in Cleveland I think in 1972. Great to see these pictures and get a little of the city's history. Used to go to Historical Society but not studying the city per se.
I was born at University Hospital and grew up in University Circle.i left for college in 1972 and never lived there again. I will be going home this year for the first time since the Pandemic. My mother, father, and brother, are buried in Lakeview Cemetery.
I am getting up there in years. Creating old Cleveland videos helps me remember the ones I have lost and times we shared long ago. Thank You SevenStarofthedipper! (Mike J. at VVPR). (I was born at Deaconess hospital (W.25th/Pearl)).
Overall, it looks like things have nicley improved in Cleveland judging from these photos. I do miss the electric streetcars as seen in front of the Union Terminal building at 2:37. Thanks for sharing!
@WAL_DC-6B we had both in Cleveland, that's how. Look close at the one on the left, it is NOT on tracks, it's on bus tires. so is the other one. Don't tell me it's not, I was surrounded by these as a kid.
I grew up in Richmond Hts from '84-'90, i love the city- so many memories, left in '90 for college- The Galleria mall just opened back then and i hung out alot in and around Coventry( Hunan Coventry is still up and running i think).
Very nice and well put together. I had graduated from the University of Southern Parma :). I don't live in Cleveland any longer, but I visit from time to time and live thru these memories you post. Thank You!
Thank You for watching! I grew up in Parma (familiar with CCC and Valley Forge HS). I am working on another Cleveland Then and Now video, BTW. Mike J. at VVPR.
Downtown is definitely going in the right direction. Many rehabilitation projects are under way, thankfully, and will soon reach the critical mass needed for a Target store. If I were younger, I'd definitely move there.
I dig this. This is bitchin, where were you when I spent 2 yrs in pandemic in Detroit, DIGGIN the hell out of that place. This, that beautiful mansions in ruins. Thx Mike
Thank you. Brought back many good memories 😊

I’m going to cwru as a research fellow next month for a year…hope I really like it in Cleveland
The city has undergone and impressive revitalization over the past 10 years. Its hardly recognizable if you haven’t been there in awhile.
My sister went to Case at about the same time period.
@@scottzappa9314 what is her name?
Her last name was Avdeef at the time I believe, if not then Kruger. Maiden name is Tippit. Susan. @@suzannerickles6169

Looks the same to me lol
They were called "Trackless Trolleys."
@@AlanBrown-yg7rl If they're "trackless trolleys" (also known as trolleybuses) why are these transit vehicles riding on tracks at 2:37?

Galleria didn’t last too long. Even the Winking Lizard moved out now.
