I am Dominican🇩🇴 and I have not yet gone to Rwanda because I have not yet finished my university studies, but it is the country that I most want to visit.
Ur welcome 😇
Ur welcome 😇
Am Ugandan and usually work in Rwanda. Fortunately for me, I know French, Swahili, English and some bit of Kinyarwanda. So when am communicating, I usually pick the best way I can talk to a Rwandese. French is known to the Old school Rwandese who are may be over 40 years (not the younger generation)
This girls are very thorough 47:35 in their review of Rwanda. This is a must watch review for people interested in visiting Rwanda.
I lived in Rwanda for 4 years and i can relate to your experiences. The language barrier, yoooh....it took me a minute...i had to learn some basic Kinyarwanda in order to relate with the locals. Overall, Rwanda is a great country to live in...safety, security, working systems...i can take that anytime. Looking forward to watch the Rwanda series. Just discovered your content from the SA roadtrip and ladies, that content is top tier & very insightful! I'm literally binge watching your vlogs...
Hi ladies, thank you for the great incite about your magnificent trip to Rwanda. By the way,Rwanda was never colonized by the French,it was a German colony. Rwanda and Burundi were both provinces of German East Africa ie Tanganyika until 1918. Both Rwanda and Burundi territories were offered to the Belgians by the British after World War One ended as gift. The Belgians and South Africans for helped the allies to defeat Germany in East Africa 1918.
Yes, they're a lot of Rwandese people in Belgium.
It’s true that Belgium and England were allied against the Germans. But the Belgian Northern Brigade was by itself when it marched into Rwanda in May 1916 and took over the country. Those troops never left for almost half a century. Idem for the Southern Brigade.
Quote:
In April 1916 two columns of the _Force Publique_ [the Belgian army] advanced on Tabora [Tanganyika Territory]. The first column (Brigade Nord [Northern Brigade]), under the command of [Belgian] colonel Molitor, crossed the German East African border [between Rwanda and the Congo] north of Lake Kivu and occupied Kigali on 6 May 1916. After the conquest of Ruanda in May 1916 by the Belgo-Congolese forces, the brigade advanced to Biharamulo [Tanganyika Territory] on 24 June. It reached Lake Victoria near Mwanza [Tanganyika Territory] on 30 July 1916, after heavy fighting in the Ussuwi region, including a bloody skirmish in Kato on 2 July. St. Michaël fell on 21 August 1916.
The second column (Brigade Sud [Southern Brigade]) occupied Usumbura [Bujumbura] on 6 June and Kitega [Gitega] on 16 June. In early July they advanced southwards from Usumbura along the eastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. The Belgian ship _Netta_ sailed along the northeast coast in support of the land offensive; this naval presence led to the coastal towns of Rumonge [Burundi] and Nyanza [Burundi] being abandoned by the Schutztruppe [German army]. On 18 July the fortifications at Kigoma [Tanganyika Territory] were bombed by two of the Belgian floatplanes and a petrol depot was set alight. On 19 July aerial photographs were taken and airborne leaflet propaganda was dropped over the old town of Ujiji [Tanganyika Territory], printed in Swahili, to prepare the local population for the arrival of the Allied troops. Brigade Sud took the fort at Kasulu [Tanganyika Territory] on 24 July. In order to avoid _Graf von Goetzen_ falling into Allied hands, General Lettow-Vorbeck [German army] ordered that the ship be scuttled.
Very well explained: both Burundi & Rwanda were offered to the belgians by the British as gift. How can u offer something that does not belong to u as a gift?
The Europeans( specially the brits& french) have caused so much human PAIN in this world. These brits & french have gone around the world, taking lands, enslaving people, ruling people by force and now the audacity when they claim that they are more civilized or that Africans are violent when they are the ones who spread hate & violence all over the world and they should be prosecuted for Human rights violations! Such narcissists & gaslighters only.
Been to Rwanda, I experienced the same about it. I am from Seychelles, it is easy for us to visit east African country as we have free visa entrance for certain period.
Nyumba kumi kumi( Ten Houses) was firstly introduced in Tanzania in the 80's and Mozambique if I am not mistaken.
I was in Rwanda recently. All you say is so true!! They are warm and friendly towards foreigners. The many different restaurants, serviced apartments and work spaces make it a multi cultural hub . However the moto guys don't seem to know Kigali that well lol they kept taking me in circles .
Thank You ladies, i am 🇭🇹Haitian and will visit Rwanda soon, this was informative, well thought out accounts of Rwanda.

You see people are not empowered to question the government of the day same as in Uganda: Kenya we are blessed you can make noise and Question any public servant: And that's why we are able to adapt so quickly when we are out of Kenya

Under culture shocks, did you find that in Reanda/Kigali, they have "Milk bars", not "alcohol bars" as in the rest of East Africa
Thanks 🙏🏾 for sharing ❤but u forget to talk about UMUGANDA
Locals gathe for cleaning the country
hi Liv Kenya was previleged to meet you at carrefour Sarit center westlands
Hi Vincent, yes I remember. It was such a pleasure meeting you
Hey thanks for the information about the Rwandese their way of life is different from ours, we have a lot to learn from them. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for watching. They are so different from the rest of East Africa
Hi hadia and your friends hope you are doing well do a documentary on kirinyaga county in my Kenya national park
Please
Hello Olivia,
Just a point of information, how do you manage to get more days for your stay for a neighboring country from the immigration country? currently, We are allowed to have close to 180 days visa free stay from our neighboring countries. What would you advice.
Wow, guyz I'm really shocked as well. I thought Rwanda had completed the transition from French to English. In all the meetings we attended in Kigali, the Rwandese articulated their country's positions in English...
That's because you meet the elites not the regular people on the street..
At this point, I am ready for the Mars road trip when they join the East African Union. Because I’m sure you both would tell me whether zero-gravity ugali is good. ❤
They have already joined the East African Community. We can freely move in and out of the country.
Hi am late but not Soo late
You are right in time. Thank you for joining us in the Premiere
People are nice all over Kenya except maybe Nairobi, Central and North Eastern. The rest of the country are friendly, peaceful and cheerful. Thefts are also rare.
Nyumba kumi kumi was created by Nyerere during Ujamaa era. Rwanda adopted many years ago. It is a system that enables the government to know everything about anybody within its jurisdiction. It has both good and bad sides. I lived in Kenya. It is a corrupt and lawless country. Road accidents kill many people than even HIV. Kenya is a nice country. Nonetheless, Kenyan ethnicity and greed dent it a great deal more. Kenya was once a law abiding country matters of traffic laws during Michuki's tenure as a minister responsible. I hated Kenya because of three things, ngeta, karau, and toxic ethnicity. Though not all, Kenyan police are but crap.
We love it that way my brother... that's what us unique
Acheni vocaburary sasa introvated ni nn
We also have police in every street in Kenya but you can get away with anything, I mean anything 😢
In regards to the French Language in Rwanda
Rwandese were under Belgian colony for administration and as usual they adopted the Belgian French language and for decades French became their official administration language
Then one day kagame had disagreement with the France and out of protestation he opted out of the Francophone nation and announced adoption of the English language also as a means to open the country tot the rest of the world (best decision ever)
slowly by slowly french was phased off schools systems and replaced by English
today majority of the current generation Millennials and Gen Z rarely speak french
French is mainly spoken by the older generation
We need another trip before the SA trip
Suggest a place 😄
Adia has all the ideas wherever you are...go to unexplored nothern kenya
Rwanda is a very tiny country.
The same size with nyanza province in Kenya.
Na Burundi hamujaenda...
Lazima tutaenda
Thanks God ushamba wa tall buildings umewatoka sasa. Kenyans still acting so bushy when it comes to tall building I don't know why.
Unga or posho in Uganda is food for the army
Interesting. Why the army?
I assume it's because Posho is heavy and it provides alot of energy. It also keeps them full for longer. That's my assumption
Guys whats happening? its been four weeks
No vibandaski in Rwanda.
for clarity in regarding to those ''beautiful rwandese women''
those ''beautiful rwandese women'' are of Tutsi ethnicity
Tutsi are originally from south Ethiopia hence the beauty and partial similarity features (especially the hair ) with Ethiopians
Tutsi's are 14 % of the entire rwanda population ...in that 14% also includes the men and kids ,also some of them are based abroad (most flew out after the genocide) , which means those ''beautiful rwandese women'' are veerrrry few , its not easy to see them publicly in the streets of Kigali or Rwanda generally
This makes alot of sense
Watching from kiserian, you people are talking nothing but the truth, l came from Rwanda just the other day,l did not see even single beautiful Ngaro.
Kenyans were funny world wide were known 😂😂😂😂😂😂I love Kenya my country where we can abuse even our own president ❤😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 Sema polepole
Rwanda was colonized by Germany and Belgium, not France. Welcome back
Rwanda is not the second developed country in East Africa. Economic development is not measured based on exchange rates. If that was the case Kenya and Japan would be in the same league!!!!!!!!!!
Noted
So Rwandans are another Tanzanian in the continent... language barrier 😅😅
French ended in Rwanda after the genocide and English speaking Uganda helping Kagame assume power.
Wanyarwanda wanajifanya ni wasafi but mbona umoja 2 nairobi wanarusha maganda ya matooke, ugandan white posho, pampers, karatas za mgate kwa mtaro aki nikuchaaafu saaana
That's why they love Kenya because we have no rules and regulations on matter cleanliness.
No Rwanda for me! Too much...stressful. It is a police state soon to be like North Korea.
Rwanda is overrated for that matter.....a police state....even one friend of mine told me that Rwanda is like a small vilage
North Korea is something else 😢😢
Sure..I don't like any police state..one cannot enjoy in such countries
