If you only want mainstream pop music, Aurora is definitely not an artist who can satisfy your desires. Anyway, you guys were fun to watch. Cheers!

Aurora is a performer. Her artistry is immense. To learn to know her is to see her live and watch her amazing videos, and of course, see the beauty in her lyrics. She is definitely not main stream, but I would be surprised if you wouldn't be mesmerized and drawn into her universe if you give her a real chance. But of course, she can't be liked by everyone. See her live at Nobel 2015 Concert doing Runaway and Murder Song. See her live at Nidarosdomen doing Through the Eyes of a Child or It Happened Quiet. Two great "old" videos are The Seed and Queendom (but: All her videos are great, imo) To this new album, you can enjoy videos to: Exist for Love, Heathens (live video), Giving in to the Love, Cure for Me and A Temporary High. In my eyes and ears, they are all amazing and show her immense care for the earth, nature and existential questions.

Lovely Reaction! This album is extremely creative and experimental and certainly not typical of her earlier music. As a fan it's been fascinating watch her grow and explore and create new music. Her lyrics are thoughtful and powerful. She really needs to be seen performing live to get the full impact of her as a performer. Aurora is the total package - singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, producer/arranger, choreographer, and an absolutely lovely human being (and she’s just 25 years old!). She will often perform her songs quite differently - sometimes with her band, other times stripped down to just her and one instrument, a cappella, with full orchestra, etc. - so it is definitely worth listening to different versions of the same song. Also, her videos are mini-masterpieces as well.
A short list of original songs:
Runaway - Nobel Peace Prize concert and her music video
Through the Eyes of a Child - Nidarosdomen concert, my recommendation Live Stripped - VIVO UK Lift: th-cam.com/video/CFzExUN1N8I/w-d-xo.html
It Happened Quiet - Nidarosdomen concert, but I'd recommend the live at The Current version as well: th-cam.com/video/9U-N6LqzdIM/w-d-xo.html
    Churchyard - Live on KEXP
Winter Bird - Nidarosdomen concert and her music video
Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1 - Nobel Peace Prize Concert
    Lucky - Nidarosdomen concert
Little Boy in the Grass - Nidarosdomen concert
The Seed - Music Video, HAIK Concert
The River - Music video, Live in Bergen 2020
Exist For Love - Music video,
    Daydreamer - Music video
She also does some awesome covers:
Life on Mars - David Bowie
    Believer - Imagine Dragons
God is a Woman - Ariana Grande
Across the Universe - John Lennon
    Teardrop - Massive Attack
    Rasputin - Boney M

I would have been lost going into this album trying to understand it with little or no help, not knowing Aurora from before.... It might be a bit like reading a book from the end and forward.....
Aurora has great albums, but it her live preformances that are mindblowingly fantastic..... Give it a shot!
Check out Murder song from the Nobel Peace Prize concert or the entire mini concert (14 minutes with an intervju) or through the eyes of a child from Nidarosdomen concert or It happened quiet from Live at the current.

I have to say, this is possibly the most challenging album to jump on the Aurora train, and I'm honestly impressed that you got as much out of it as you did.
I'd say you really can't go too far wrong by following her discography in chronological order.
Her first album (All my demons greeting me as a friend) will ease you into her work but has all the impeccable vocals, deep lyrics and solid production that are hallmarks of her studio work and I guarantee you'll recognise at least one of the songs.
It's also well worth exploring her live performances, starting with the earlier stuff and including her astounding covers.
Notable live performances of her original songs are the Nobel Peace Prize concert and the one she did in Nidarosdomen Cathedral.
I hope that her music will touch you as it has so, so many other and I hope we can witness your journey - Subscribed!

I can't criticise an honest reaction but starting on this, her most experimental album, is a scary thought. You need to get to know Aurora through her older material, especially live.
Give this a try:- Aurora - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) - th-cam.com/video/P_XguuxLo10/w-d-xo.html

On this album, I particularly like Everything Matters, Blood in the Wine, Heathens (the live performance video version is best), Cure for Me (video version), and The Innocent. Her live performances and music videos are on another level from studio releases -- her interpretive dancing, added and very expressive vocals (that are brought forward), and other elements all make her videos very mesmerizing!

It took me awhile to like Aurora. Now she's one of my favorite artists. But it goes beyond her being an artist. She is the kind of person that breaks down hard barriers in people of all ages and all backgrounds or cultures. It's hard to explain, but easy to see once you go through more of her interviews, live streams, and documentaries. And her live performances where her personality really shows.
Then there is her personal history she doesn't talk about much. She's gone through some heavy stuff. Lost a few friends in tragic ways. Yet finds a way to live through it.

Take a look at Aurora Live in Nidarosdomen if yoy will come closer to her spirit and soul. The videos from NRK is mostly not copyrighted. "Trough the Eyes of a Child" or "Lucky" is amazing.

You might want to listen to a young Russian singer - Diana Ankudinova who is 18 years old in this video, singing a very unique cover of Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling In Love. She's a contralto, and a commanding stage presence.
    th-cam.com/video/M-znD6QKbrg/w-d-xo.html
Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history. It's a safe prediction that you'll have goosebumps and say that's the most unique voice you've ever heard.

For sure, Aurora can't be for everyone. That's very much ok. Obviously though, there are many that do like her, the album you just reacted to, a few days after release, is #8 in the UK album charts. Her yt channel is approaching 1 billion views. As others pointed out, if you want to learn more about Aurora and get an idea who she is, then you may want to go and listen to earlier material of her. And go for live performances, it's where she really comes across. Aurora said that her (most known) song 'Runaway' is the song to begin the journey with her. She wrote it at age 11. And go for the '2015 nobel peace prize concert' version, so you get a feel for her live performances. Fun fact, Billie Eilish in an interview said, that it was the song 'Runaway' that made her want to start a career in music th-cam.com/video/AC1z0I0xz0w/w-d-xo.html
