I also feel that emotion and feeling, but in the end I am smiling, shaking my head and singing. Something has this presentation, and how the two songs come together. Simply the music does it, the great Phill Lynnot and the whole band. Greetings from Mexico.
Music is a beautiful thing, I have so many happy and sad memories tied to my memory thru music and I continue to make new ones! When we really look back to the place a song takes us and miss it and wish we cherished it more at that time, those can be painful moments, for me at least.
Blew the speakers out if my 77 dodge listening to this song in louisiana in the Bayou swamp drinking Beer and smoking ". Red- Bud " columbian weed !! Ah! To be young again;!
Phil Lynott was one of the coolest, most bad ass, talented front men ever and Thin Lizzy is one of the greatest rock bands of all time. I was lucky to see their second last show in Germany. Would have been a shame to have never seen Phil live. And yes, that transition kicks ass. I always loved it.
I remember being drunk/ hungover and out of my mind... and this song just became fused with my mind one afternoon... I can remember it so well. Great song, I have over listened to it on occasion though. :)
I'm so happy to see this again. I watched this medley about 50 times, no joke, about 6 or 7 years ago. Then I couldn't find the old link. This IS THE BEST ROCK PERFORMANCE ON TH-cam. Rock on in peace, Phil.
Good transition cowboy-boys, thin did it many times alive...live and dangerous, sidney...we miss a lot phil...high class R&R man and band : - )......!!!!!!!!!
This song just reminds me of feeling happy and sad, surrounded by people but alone, and totally tired but unavoidably wired... the life of an addict sucks. And I hope one day this song will mean something else to me. It's too good a song to always remind me of one pissed away afternoon/ decade.
Dude I was about to leave the exact same comment...i was always wondering why it was taken down, I would be typing in "Thin lizzy cowboy song and boys are back live in sydney" I was annoyed that i couldn't watch it haha
I saw Lizzy 3 times and they were excellent every time. Wish I was in Dublin this weekend for The Vibe for Philo. Went in 2013 with my son and had a brilliant time.
saw them the week before in Brisbane when I was 18 awesome I think I m getting abit emotional I think ive watched this clip about 100 times owned johhny the fox back in the day some brilliant songs good mixture balads anthems driving songs johnny, fools gold my two all time favs thanks for posting
At 7:50 Gary Moore flips somebody off. In the Live Blues for Jimi Foxy Lady at I think at around 2:30 Moore has somebody in the crowd removed with a nod of his head, a smile and a little interaction with the individual. That's power..
Same as below me, where did it go? GLAD to see it back!!! lol Just finished watching another vid & alot of comments about Thin Lizzy not being in HOF ( Shame, rather, we all know politics involved ). Didn't comment there but now that I've thought more about it, it IS a shame when Abba, Madonna, Ice Cube,?? ect., are & this band, is NOT. It actually surprises me more who ISN'T there, than who IS. The politics involved plus those who do the voting I assume, as I understand it, anyways. RIP Phil.
My mistake in foxy lady the nod and smile are at 1:37 and the interaction with the fool in the crowd is at 1:52. I don't blame Moore a bit. He's busy doing his job. And I can think of a few times over the years I wish had that kinda clout.
One day while working for AT&T phone tech support i was shooting the shit with a customer and somehow thin lizzy came up (their email addy maybe?) Well it turned out that the husband was in a TL cover band. I asked her (he was there but not on with me) if they ever saw this video, and explaned how awesome the transition is. While we waited for something they got this video up and watched it. Once the transition hit "Woooow.. We're playing it like this from now on..." Hahaha.
Well, we're both alive now, so we must be doing something right :) It's just hard to let go of wasted years and leave regret behind. Hope you're doing well now.
I heard Dick Wagner say once one of the keys to a great live performance is lots of rehearsal . In addition you don't get too excited and you don't perform drunk or drugged up . Well that's his opinion . It certainly did work for one of the most legendary, greatest musically rock concerts ever for Him , Steve Hunter second lead , Prakash John bass , and rest of band in december 1973 backing Lou Reed live in NYC . Lou Reed was just the sick joker, with his talk, yell, "vocals" who wrote the songs and "sang"(although it was interesting contrast , reeds weird vocals and the bands superb playing. It was the band that made it one of the greatest ever. But then again Carlos Santana said he and band were totally stoned, f**ked up , on lsd , etc at woodstock and that was another legendary performance
Phil Lynott may not have been the best bass player, but he was definitely a very good songwriter and not least an eminent singer/performer. Another characteristic of Thin Lizzy was that the rhythm section played really tight and with a lot of power (perhaps not so strange since Phil played the bass). The sum of this combined with various eminent guitar players was absolutely brilliant. The band was without a doubt among the greats of their time. It's really sad that drug addiction ruined this as it has for so many other great bands and musicians. Phil unfortunately died far too young at only 36 years old due to heroin abuse.
These two songs played together like this brings on the tears...idk why, but really I do know why.
I also feel that emotion and feeling, but in the end I am smiling, shaking my head and singing. Something has this presentation, and how the two songs come together. Simply the music does it, the great Phill Lynnot and the whole band. Greetings from Mexico.

I feel the same way by the time second solo comes in on cowboy song.
The good old days....and they ain't coming back...
It's 5:40am. I need to get some sleep.. Ah one more listen won't hurt. 🤘
The transition... still gives me chills God knows how many years later
Phil @ 5:05 " The cowboy's life... Is the life for me.". Right into The Boys Are Back In Town is a great moment.
One of the greatest moments in musical history as far as I'm concerned

Blew the speakers out if my 77 dodge listening to this song in louisiana in the Bayou swamp drinking Beer and smoking ". Red- Bud " columbian weed !! Ah! To be young again;!

I remember being drunk/ hungover and out of my mind... and this song just became fused with my mind one afternoon... I can remember it so well. Great song, I have over listened to it on occasion though. :)

This song just reminds me of feeling happy and sad, surrounded by people but alone, and totally tired but unavoidably wired... the life of an addict sucks. And I hope one day this song will mean something else to me. It's too good a song to always remind me of one pissed away afternoon/ decade.
