I was travelling the world when covid hit, now I'm back in Ireland where I'm from, we've been in total lockdown, only allowed go 5km from our house, back in the career i hated and left to travel... I was planning on heading to costa rica and then go on to do all of central and south america but that has not been possible. I just found your channel and just want to say thank you so much for posting
Sucks being “locked down” especially those that love to travel and get out there. We are not as bad as you here in Canada but it still sucks pretty bad, been a depressing winter for sure. Hopefully we can all break free and do what we all love and want to do. Hang in there and stay positive.
I'm sorry for your loss. That's why a lot of people chose to stay in Costa Rica at the start of the pandemic. I think be tempted to make a break for it somehow and not return to Ireland until regulations are relaxed. I was planning on driving from California to Costa Rica, but several borders are closed or require Covid-19 test at most borders. That gets tiresome fast having to coordinate testing and border crossings and Costa Rican land border is the hardest barrier as closed to everyone but citizens and residents.
LOVE the walk through vids Mike! Every time you do this I relive my 2016 vacation all over again. LOL. Had a great time and thanks again to you, D'Angelo and Vernita for making it easy!
I flew right over all of that this morning on my way back to the States. I was sad leaving, but this video puts me right back there. We were in La Fortuna several times during my stay in CR. We went up through all of those swanky hotels and resorts you talked about, past the free hot springs to Lake Arenal, where I got swarmed by coatimundis. I was in heaven. LOL I'll be back, though, hopefully in about two weeks with all our dogs and cats. We're planning to do exactly what you said: buy something and open it ourselves. We're looking at land in the mountains near Turrialba to start a little off-grid farm with a few cabinas for guests... this is a good time to build and put the framework together, to get plants growing, pastures established, etc., in anticipation of a tourism rebound over the next few years. I hope to bump into you some day in La Fortuna. It's a town we'll visit often despite the distance if we buy the Turrialba farmland. Lots of things to see and do and just a good vibe all around. Thanks for another great upload!

Hey Michael to me at least of all your videos, and I try watching them all, this is my favorite. Not sure why but it was very informative and personal. Now I just watched a video on Bali and it’s financial “collapse” due to zero flights and tourists. The people there are abandoning the towns and going back to farming. Very sad there too.
Nice walk around town Michael but truly sad to see it so dead....u would think by now u would see some activity but like I've said before people got turned off with they demanded travel insurance then the negative covid test to return back to the states

We were supposed to come in January, but all the hoops were too much with traveling from our state. Now it's summer and I actually like where I live in the summer. Our plan is to come to Costa Rica next Thanksgiving, so hopefully things are a bit less difficult by then!!
Wow! I was there on that day Sunday-Tuesday! 🤯It was very empty, but was still beautiful and quaint. 🌺🌸 🌴 We loved the volcano, hot springs, and waterfall.
I drove into that oneway once with the family in peak season... lol... Some guy tried to warn me by casually pointing the other way but I didn't realize what he was saying until it was to late... And I did get flustered. lol
Me too. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I'm in Poland and I too would need to do a test to come back but what's even worse, I would have to also quarantine for 10 days. Not only are the tests questionable and sometimes even dangerous when not done properly but I cannot afford to be locked up in my home for 10 days. If the airlines and governments think that covid passports and vaccinations will get the tourists going this summer, they are sorely mistaken.
@@PeterTX-PL Yeah, the quarantine is definetly a deal breaker. Vaccine passports and change of regulations rewarding vaccination is the answer. The Covid-19 tests and quarantines should be dropped for people who have been fully vaccinated.

Man to many hoops to jump through... have a 20 people group that was coming to CR but now looking at Mexico or Columbia... its said we talk about it so much to people and they wanted to show the beauty of your country
Mexico doesn't require insurance or Covid-19 tests. Colombia requires Covid-19 tests. Costa Rica requires insurance which can be quite cheape through Trawick Insurance. All three require an online health Pass. The US requires a Covid-19 test to get back in. Costa Rica seems pretty minimal hurdles, just buy the cheap insurance for a couple of dollars a day and uploaded it to the health pass. Not really difficult at all.
