Don't take at least minute 3:34/3:35 for granted. There's no mention of Alexander's best friend Hephaestion to be his lover or that they were in a relationship. I'm still under the belief that alex was poisoned, no heir, went from seemingly healthy to, on his death bed within a day. Sure he suffered plenty of injuries before and a group of individuals came out many years later stating that a rising section killed him. However I'm more likely to believe that the individuals that outed the section, were scared for the uncertainty of the empire, thus, not saying anything shortly after his death. Than believing they made this statement(a dangerous one, at best) for propaganda purposes.
It wasn't within a day, he managed the affairs of state for several days before being bedridden and then eventually losing his voice. His soldiers even demanded to see him after he hadn't appeared for a while to even verify if he was actually dead or alive.
It's testament to how fearsome that those Nile crocodiles must've been to immediately spur the soldiers to kill Perdiccas for making them go through this.

Sadly, when the Christians were rioting in Alexandria, and were full of religious zeal & fury, the tomb and earthly remains of a mortal who had declared himself to be a God, and was worshiped by the defeated 'old guard' as such, would have probably been at the top of their list (along with the Library) to "cast down" to show their piety and devotion to their God, and their new ruling order. Hundreds (thousands?) of nose-less statues of Roman Emperors, and converted and/or destroyed Roman Temples bear witness to this process.
@@xunqianbaidu6917 There is some evidence that points towards the argument that Christians were not the only group throughout history to destroy what came before as a sign of their piety and devotion, but the argument that other groups may have done similar things does not negate that the Christians also did so when they took power, not only in Alexandria, but across the Mediterranean world.
2 things. 1) please don't confuse the ancient minions of the Vatican with Christians. Not the same, except on an individual basis, possibly. 2) there is also some evidence that it was the followers of Muhammad and the Koran that were responsible for destroying the library at Alexandria.
In those days, finances were physical. If one general had access to more physical currency than the other, it would be easy to see how a few massive bribes could have gone a long way towards gaining control of the trappings of royalty, or the body itself. Ptolemy's satrapy was wealthy. Macedon had been financially drained by Alexander's conquest. Ptolemy bought cheaply his own historical narrative.
I have never heard this story of Alexander's death. I had only ever heard that he had chased a group into the desert of The Step, had drank some bad water out of desperation and died shortly after getting back to Babylon. He was said to have died of a disease picked up from the bad water.
I remember a scene from the film about Cleopatra in which she and Antony stood by the body of Alexander in a scene. The body was on display in a glass case, richly dressed, with his sword. Cleo offered to give Antony Alex- ander's sword. But he declined it.
The tomb of Alexander the Great is one of the most famous and sought-after archaeological sites, but it has not been reported missing or stolen. It's worth noting that there have been various theories and debates about the exact location of Alexander the Great's tomb. Historically, it was believed to be located in Alexandria, Egypt, but its precise whereabouts remain uncertain. Despite extensive searches and excavations, the tomb has not been conclusively discovered.
I remember a video here on yt where the announcement was made by French archaeologists and some government officials (Jordan?) that Alexander's grave had been found, including some pictures. But after that: crickets.

The body of Alexander, we have. Alexander was NOT buried in Memphis, but He was buried in his own founded city, Alexandria. For the understanding of this, we should know, when Sain Mark"s body (evangelist and bishop of Alexandria) was stolen by the Venetians, the largest Mausoleum was broken into. However, there are several sources proved: St.Mark"s body was incinerated. Very, very likely, that the criminals of Venice, broke into the Alexander Mausoleum and now, Alexander rests in the Cattedrale di San Marco in Venice (Venezia).
Judging by the way that egyptian criminals violated the tombs of their pharohs, what makes people think that adorned as it was, and with the riches within, that Alexander's tomb was destroyed for the greed of a few.
Macedonia for the Macedonians -William Gladstone British Statesman on the 19th of January 1897 in the House of Commons speaks of the glorious heritage of the Macedonians. And he clearly notes that Phillip II, Alexander, Aristotle, Cyril and Methodius are Macedonians. That Macedonians are not Slavs and that are not Greeks. "Macedonia-for the Macedonians" he declares.
Serbia is the territory north of Macedonia and despite the problems in the past the Macedonians now are very close to Serbians we are the same orthodox fate
And more than likely any treasure would have been melted down long ago and all the original stone used elsewhere. Probably not even a mound of dirt left.
I was told by the past that history repeats itself. While I stubbornly fought against it, both present and future tell me how two sides leave me hopeless. I will have to do it myself. Uniting them with Japen Order first for both giants and nolidans then make choice that leave both choiceless but Islamic Kalifaith. The winner takes it all! 🤯
Alexander was assassinated. He was poisoned. He was drinking too often and started believing what others were saying about him. He let his guard down and got too cocky. His decline started after he killed one of his Macedonians with a javelin. He was drinking and the soldier accused Alexander of favoring his new troops ( Persians and others ) over the Macedonians.

@@InAeternumRomaMater you re true on your knowledge don't know why those fucking british and Americans want to portrait him as homo while there is no document of engaging in any homosexual acts. CLEARLY IT IS DOCUMENTED THAT HE LIKED WOMEN!
Alexander was bi dude. Ancient times had no taboo against homosexuality. That came after
I really do not like it when they say unverifiable things like "Alexander's lover" as though that's a 100% certified fact when in reality that's just the modern fashionable interpretation.
The homosexual type casting that Alexander has been painted with has been by those who hate him. Then and now. He was a terror to wicked leaders.
It’s his lover PERIOD
I wish i had the funds to fund an archeological expedition to uncover Alexanders body
Hundreds of people have, it’s like looking for Jesus or King Arthur
Funds to fund a find? Fun! 😂
I will send you a few bucks, let me know how it works out😊.
That just throwing money away
If they ever find it it could be under some street in Alexandria. Ever since they found Richard III I would never say it's impossible. I have been fascinated by Alexander since I read my Nana's Mary Renault novels about him as a child.
good work
Wow!! The image is very good 👌
Interesting story!
Dr. Chris Naunton 🤩! I loved his episodes in the Ancients!
Too much time has gone by to ever know… but this was very interesting
This story would make an epic tv series
Man, even after death Alex the Bombastic was up to shenanigans fantastic.
Fascinating
Thanks 👍🏻
He's in the Vatican Secret Library/Archives.........still perfectly preserved in honey.
Have you seen it?
Marvellous ! Subscribed 🙏👌🌹
Can you imagine the power that Alexander held, not only did his body have so importance that such a heist in his time. That over 2000 years later his name is still revered by the masses, that the hunt for his body is still going at such a pace!
The legend says he is immersed in honey in a quartz sarcophagus 🤷
The break up of the Macedonian Empire being analogous to The Game of Thrones, what a relatable and interesting way to explain it
I love it! Great video!
I remember watching a documentary that talked about Rome taking his body after they concurred. That was how his body was lost. I think they said Caligula used to wear his armor.
Just imagine it sitting under modern Alexandria somewhere just waiting to be found.
I named my son, Alexander Royce, after Alexander The Great.
Royce means Kingley. Thank you for this wonderfully historic Video.
Jim Morrison of the Doors, had his hair cut just like Alexander's is depicted.
Seriously 😂😂😂
Well, that's a true oxymoron, Alexander The Great and Jim Morrison. Polar Opposites.
Ha! Well done! Enjoyed that! Hail Alexander for he was truly Great!
very good documentary
One of the most significant mysterious pieces of history.
There have been several theories that Alexander's lost tomb is in Siwa by Liana Souvaltzi, Eleni Arveler says that he is probably buried in Vergina .... God knows really!
If you ask me, the tomb will never be found rather some scattered artifacts that relate to Alexander, as even back then everyone wanted a piece of his legacy
Hello To The Makers Of This Video My name is Amanda and I reside in Australia. I'm into anything and everything about Alexander the great. My question to you is have you been to Europe particularly on the Alexander The Great Highway which takes you to Thessaloniki in Greece? If you have what did you feel travelling on this particular Highway? I've personally travelled from Romania all the way to Thesaloniki which is Approximately 650 kilometres and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful road trip because it takes you into different countries. For me it also felt like I was retracing his travels. I have also subscribed to this channel and I've watched a number of your videos on other Historical stories as well. Congratulations and keep up your wonderful work Amanda T. From Melbourne Victoria Australia.. 7:17
They will never be anyone ever who will create so much interest.😉
Need to travel back in time.
Delicious, thank you 😊
Sadly, when the Christians were rioting in Alexandria, and were full of religious zeal & fury, the tomb and earthly remains of a mortal who had declared himself to be a God, and was worshiped by the defeated 'old guard' as such, would have probably been at the top of their list (along with the Library) to "cast down" to show their piety and devotion to their God, and their new ruling order.
@@xunqianbaidu6917 Except it was. Post your sources.
The KING 👑 of the kings by far...!!!!
I agree Alexander's tomb is at the same level of Genghis khan.
@@dhimankalita1690It’s above that lol
I remember a video here on yt where the announcement was made by French archaeologists and some government officials (Jordan?) that Alexander's grave had been found, including some pictures. But after that: crickets.
*A most interesting, and dramatic story, yet what are the Resource References that support it for a History Value?*

Alexander the Great, the Greatest Macedonian that has ever lived
Seem to recall there are references to both Ceasar and Augustus visiting the tomb in Alexandria but I cant say how accurate thouse sources are...
They met King Arthur too...
@@ahippy8972 are you doubting the existence of Alexander the Great?
@@ahippy8972 King Arthur lives 500-Years after Caesar and Cleopatra, and 800 Years after Alexander. I’ll assume you’re sarcastic.
Yes, Augustus had the tomb opened and he stared at Alexander’s corpse. I believe he also put on Alexander’s breast plate, or took it.
@@matthewcarey3148 I seem to remember reading that Augustus accidentally broke Alexander’s nose off
The body of Alexander, we have.
It's a pity to know that one of the histor's greatest military commandershave no say in his own burial
Raiders of the lost Tomb.
next is a ‘bridgertoned’ Alexander ‘docu-drama’
Macedonia for the Macedonians -William Gladstone British Statesman on the 19th of January 1897 in the House of Commons speaks of the glorious heritage of the Macedonians. And he clearly notes that Phillip II, Alexander, Aristotle, Cyril and Methodius are Macedonians. That Macedonians are not Slavs and that are not Greeks. "Macedonia-for the Macedonians" he declares.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't what was ancient Macedonia now called Serbia ?? My grandma was Serbian.

This is why we can’t have nice things 😢
Another wonderful and informative video about last days of Alexandre agreat how his previous glory of Alexandre exploited for covering legitimate ssacssation by both Perdicus or by Tolomy
A half good documentary.Esp.when talking about Perdicus and that immediate time after Alexanders death.Skipping past this rather quickely to be a GREAT doc.
He was 32…..? I’m sitting in my pants eating a toasty and I’m 36…. Shit
Well to be fair, according to the History Channel, the greatest modern resource on ancient times, Alexander was probably a Nazi Ghost Alien.
