    This with AoW Planetfall -like planetary conquest that'd be so sweet 🤗

      Yeah, agreed. I don't know why it's so barebones still at this point given the amount of DLC and thus dev time that has been put into this game.

    It is so strange to see marines cut down in huge quantities like chaff. There were more marines than Tau and they were slaughtered

      The curse of video game AI being stupid and not using units to full effectiveness tbh. It's either the most oppressive, busted AI in the world or a legit braindead lobotomy patient.

      A symptom of the terrible AI. It was either this (then having huge numerical advantage) or them being gigantic bullet sponges. Given they aren't like this if you play as blood angels I prefer this, but yes, it is quite jarring to see marines dying like guardsmen. Especially primaris too...

    The hammerhead honestly seems really strange to me in this game. It's like the devs went, "It's iconic. We need one." Without stopping to think about the role it should fill.
    For a start, the ion cannon should be shorter range and have a bit of splash damage to help it provide mid range fire support. The pulse carbine drones should be exchanged for burst cannons with the option to swap to smart missile pods. The railgun can kinda stay as I think it is (havent actually seen it used), though it should have a "submunitions" ability like they do (or did) in the tabletop where they would fire a round that exploded into molten slag.
    Basically the hammerhead should be a fire support platform with the option to be specialized into vehicle/hero killing. As it stands, the broadside is a better option that fills the same role in every way. Sure, the durability isn't as high, but just like a hammerhead you're not wanting to be up close anyway.

      Yeah I am not a fan at all. It doesn't really have a clearly defined role and the battlesuits make it feel obsolete.

    The Ionhead seems to have a role in fighting light vehicles / Elite infantry and not necron swarms / Warriors ;)

      Meh not really. It still just nukes down 1 warrior model which a railgun could also do except the railgun would be better vs the high hp, high armour vehicle threats.

    I really enjoy your single player game plays! always good fun to watch.
    Im not sure if you're into warhammer fantasy or not, but Mordheim city of the damned is a cool turn based game I've got a lot of love for.
    Just wondering if you've heard of or played it before?

      Was that game the original Mordheim one, or based on it? I just looked at footage and I'm sure I've seen footage of something quite similar but I never did play it.
      I'm not hugely into fantasy, though I know more than most 40k fans as I did research it via wiki pages when playing through the TW series which I've got like 4k hours on.
      Probably not gonna go back to old games now unless they're RTT though. It's tough, just not a lot of time. I'm really looking forward to Space Marine 2 as well.

    AI being weak is one thing but I think the Overwatch in this game is just way too OP for an army with such long range and accurate weapon. In table top, you can only make 1 overwatch, with one unit and it cost you command points which are very finite in the game (also have some significant accuracy penalty when fire in overwatch.)
    The ability to shoot and then move is also simply insane, not be able to charge well until turn-3 would just make all of the melee units useless in this game (but maybe they already are I guess, I dunno.)
    I think going for a meme build instead of the super optimised one might be more fun if the AI is this stupid.

      Overwatch is not OP unless you're able to maximize its output. Keep in mind you have falloff accuracy for weapons which means your attacks and Overwatch can be weak. Also, unit Evasion is very crucial and some abilities and momentum mechanic can boost Evasion to reduce the effectiveness of enemies' attacks. Sisters are very good at gaining momentum which gradually increase their Evasion stat for each attacks that they suffered. A good opponent will exploit your Overwatch by sending one cheap unit or a unit with high Evasion stat so he could send the rest of his army to you without getting Overwatched (just like in Tabletop).
      Well, isn't that the case on tabletop as well? You only Charge at the right moment especially after you put them into position. Melee units aren't useless at all. BA is very strong melee if you know how to play their ASM and Sanguinary Guard. Some melee units can teleport and tie your units (especially good if you're able to tie range units because they can't escape without consequences and have extremely reduced range effectiveness).
      The ability to shoot and then move is not insane, it's normal in turn based tactic game and you can still lose because of it. I suggest you play a lot of Multiplayer in Async to understand how tactics are played in this game.
      Digital game should not 100% copy aspects from the tabletop or the game will be very clunky, boring and unintuitive (Warmachine Tactics is the example of this).

      The AI gets rekt by it but in multiplayer it's fine because as kosmos says you just bait it out with an appropriate unit at long range. Ork warbikes are good at this with their evasion buffs. Or throw grots in to take overwatch from meltas which they survive easily thanks to high model count.
      Certain weapons are too good though. Big shootas. Ion rifles. Heavy bolters. They just seem to kill literally everything and anything they shoot at it.
      Then again I don't play the multiplayer so maybe I'm wrong.

    Hey man genuinely a little confused here, when you attacked the Necron base you expected to encounter mostly "chaff" enemy units, so how come you didn't reinforce with units that would help in dealing with such enemies, like flamers or units that fire multiple shots instead of the 1-2 shots firing ones?
    Like the Hammerhead seemed utterly useless in that battle, likewise the Stealth Battlesuits with the Fusion Blasters, and the Broadside only being slightly better because of his Smart Missiles.

      I tried the burst cannons on crysis suits and seen that the stealth suits ones are even weaker. I wasn't impressed. They struggle to even 2 shot necron warriors, so at that point I'd rather just take fusion guns and actually be "guaranteed" to kill models and therefore lower enemy damage.
      I think the burst cannons on both need a bit of a buff, just a few more shots.
      Flamer crysis teams are alright, but again they still take 2 attacks to kill necron warriors and are very expensive. They'd be good in PvP where they will actually 1shot units, but in PvE with the AI buffed accuracy and hp... nah I don't like them. It's better to play ranged builds.
      I was trying to limit test the hammerhead but yeah it's crap. I feel like it should have passive splash OR more shots with its ion cannon. Whatever is more appropriate to its TT profile.

    Tau unit composition seems like a hard counter to SM. Maybe you should have gone for Tyranids or Orks as the major opponent besides Necrons.

      I mention this in the next video, but I really don't think it matters tbh. When you get to the late game with all abilities and levelled up units the guy seems trivial no matter the race.
      It doesn't help that the AI was obsessed with dreadnought spam.

      ​@@SenpaiTorpidDOW Guess you need to make map more sparsely populated to make it harder like you said it in one of vids. So far, your best campaign was Ork one. It was so fun to watch. That onslaught of nidz and sm hordes was so freaking hard to win against. You even lost many battles there as well.
