Lyrically Nas is one of the best rapper, if not the best in the hip-hop's history. He made hip-hop sound like poetry and story telling, the real hip-hop, I mean back when songs had meanings and relevant lyrics.
It just shows right there that hip hop and music in general in its current condition is a “ your telling me everything but showing me nothing “ mentality . Pure substance in this track, nas has a way of being philosophical but seemlessly into his delivery . Best rapper dead or alive is God’s son nas .
I sit and think how this young man, under 20 years of age could pen something that exceeds the lyrical abilities of damn near anyone that has rapped since. Nas really is a talent above and beyond 99% of rappers that have ever lived. Remember this man, there wont ever be another like him.

Bro...I’m with you...embarrassed to say it’s 2020 and I just got open...pre Illmatic heat. This beat is so dirty...reminds me of a rusty swing set swaying in the park
In my opinion, the greatest rap song ever
easily.
Classic track for those rainy days that makes you reminisce the good ol’ days. Nothing like the 90s 😩
Such a bumpin old school vibe
Ciera B it is, i love it
+Ciera B wtf lol you here?
+Ciera B ur hot
moewishaw She is banging hot, isn't she?
+Ciera B He doesn't wanna reply back :'(
This song is something..else.
The vibe is unreal.
i'm really happy that there are people listen to this masterpiece in 2023

2024...
2025
Wow 4 years ago this song was only at 1,000 views now see it reach a million views is a wonderful feeling. Everything Nas says is still relevant in today's society. Truly a poet.
Respect from TURKEY. This song is real old times feel
This photo should be saved in NY history. It really gives an eerie feel to the grimey NY streets during that time, just like this song.
The man is not only the greatest hands down but also Brilliant at the same time. Nas is just simply a surgeon when it comes to rapping.. Simply Brilliant I tell you!!
This song is Illmatic level but not just because of how good it is, but also because of how it reminds me of New York just like the rest of the album.
It sounds like it could have been on Illmatic
Yes I put this up there with NY State of Mind
@@TerranceSmithskies321 it's kinda on Cuban Linx
“A house with a swimming pool, labels me a sinnin' fool” VERSE SO FIRE 🔥🔥 why is no one talking about this
One of the greatest verses
Haters in hip hop media have been hating Nas for outshining/outrapping their favorites when it comes to rap, so they have routinely tried to downplay and outright ignore his greatness for years. It’s a shame, because they could just promote the versatility of the artform by presenting songs like this to the masses…but here we are.
Real ones know
this song has such early morning vibes for me
Late night vibes for me
Why are you everywhere
*insert leonardo dicaprio pointing meme*
@@kashifreza1993 I can see that too

I don’t think people really understand how deep that first verse was 2021 and this is still the mentality
That’s word!
truee
I don’t think they have a clue wtf kinda pure art this is
"From the womb to the tomb, I presume the unpredictable. Gun salute, life, rap elite, thats the ritual."
DAMN DANIEL Cormier *guns salute life rapidly, that's the ritual
Lmao " rap elite " Idk why but that shit had me dying
That's heavy Facts
One of the greatest Rap Songs ever made. You came here coz of your great taste in Music. Love from Mumbai.
yo im from mumbai too. rare to see indians listening to NaS lol
India Greece ancient brothers🙏
I accidentally clicked on this, and that’s what I’m thankful for the most in my life
There aren’t many verses that leave me in awe but all three are so eye-opening.
This beat gives me a feeling of nostalgia everytime i listen to it. What a timeless track 🔥🎤

One of the best songs most have never heard
this is one of Nas's most viewed tracks on YT...so his die-hard fans know it at least.
You know Nas is the best of all time when his unreleased songs are better than all the billboard charters of the last 10 years.
Ok bro the video is 13 years old, where have you been all this time?
the scheme is insane at 1:58
To street life, hustlin’, the struggle, broke ghettos
Boilin' coke settles slow inside a glass kettle
2024..... the pic takes my soul to that eerie era. when there were seasons. just a presence of the way NYC was back then.
He’ll never be irrelevant.. He is the essence, the blueprint
The Best
[Verse 1]
Through the lights, cameras and action, glamour, glitters and gold
I unfold the scroll, plant seeds to stampede the globe
When I'm deceased, by then the beast arise like yeast
To conquer peace, leavin' savages to roam in the streets
Live on the run, police payin' me to give in my gun
Trick my wisdom with the system that imprisons my son
Smoke a gold leaf, I hold heat, nonchalantly
I'm raunchy, but things I do is real, it never haunts me
While, funny style niggas roll in the pile
Rooster heads profile on a bus to Rikers Isle
Holdin’ weed inside they pussy
With they minds on the pretty things in life
Gettin' props is a true thug's wife
It's like a cycle, niggas come home, some'll go in
Do a bullet, come back and do the same shit again
From the womb to the tomb, I presume the unpredictable
Gun salute life rapidly, that's the ritual
[Hook]
Here's a toast to my foes, trees & women
(Déjà Vu)
It's like a whole new beginning...

Here's a toast to my foes, trees & women
(Déjà Vu)
It's like a whole new beginning...
[Verse 2]
Blunts, thugs and alcohol; what a mixture
Just picture, your life as a whole judged in court, they convict ya
They tellin' you your state of mind like you worthless
So he curses, his mom sayin' Bible verses, that's all she works with
But miracles never leave the churches
Instead, it hits the pockets of the preacher just to purchase
A house with a swimming pool, labels me a sinnin' fool
I'm just a nigga who inherited a winnin' jewel
To be a trendsetter, whenever subject to
Respect this and all respect due is the essential
To street life, hustlin’, the struggle, broke ghettos
Boilin' coke settles slow inside a glass kettle
Darren Levy on my TV, lifestyles of livin' easy
Got my crew tense, plottin’ up gyps to get whips with BB's
Pushin' cakes, knew anorexics with ten plates
Celebratin' elevation in the seeds that we make
So How You Like That?

[Verse 3]
Escobar life, gems and raw Timbs
Gators for pretty boy haters
In Vegas with chicks trickin’ fortunes
I'm glistenin', housing cops whistlin'
Still I'm driftin' in a high, blunts is like insulin
95-I, I drive high, zonin'
Stash box zone in my trunk, I flash knots, teeth golden
Look at me now, Ma, blowin’, but how far?
Cars, cash and bitches got me out more
And things you never dreamed I could vouch for
Snake niggas slither on they A-alikes
I ain't a Christian, but I find that we pray alike
Never the one to ask for the time to a saint
A mask and nine, I think, will make my problems sink
Down a canal, similar to how we drink
Distinct diamond-flooded Sphinx shines on my links
Drug money, snortin’ bitches, in the end of times
Got my nine, 'til I flatline, nigga, gimme mine
[Repeated outro]
Déjà vu....
Imagine if he released this masterpiece.
Thanks
The chill element of this, depth, flow, and story woven into this beat is incredible
@@4ourbid in that case it sure would have been a hit, in this case it stays a kind of mysterious and nostalgic. Like a hidden gem for us Hiphop fans, just my humble opinion.
@@GreatCornholio69 your opinion is right in all ways.
This perfectly encapsulates NY circa 92- 95.. I can actually feel that suspension in time.. That NY state of mind and aesthetic.
Yes. I felt that nostalgic off the beat and that 3rd verse just sealed it for me. Year 95....I can vivid remember the time in NYC omg
I ain't a Christian but I find we pray alike.. Facts
U know a rapper is amazing when they made a song called deja vu and the first listen feels like you've been listening to it for years
Yes.....and for me it's deeper...cos I bumped into this song when I am at a point in my life where I am actually experiencing a new beginning..
I believe the universe sent this song to me..
One of his most underrated songs
Lyrically Nas is one of the best rapper, if not the best in the hip-hop's history.
He made hip-hop sound like poetry and story telling, the real hip-hop, I mean back when songs had meanings and relevant lyrics.
The Last of a Dying Breed, the BEST
Nas is number 1 . Don't sleep on j cole he's nice as well
Beautiful poetry man. Love hearing this at night. It relaxes me.
gargoyles is cool.
young Nas is a vibe. the true height of his career. exploding with vivid expressions of hard living.
To think this was his demo tape sheesh. Only 18/19 writing these words. The golden child for sure
It just shows right there that hip hop and music in general in its current condition is a “ your telling me everything but showing me nothing “ mentality . Pure substance in this track, nas has a way of being philosophical but seemlessly into his delivery . Best rapper dead or alive is God’s son nas .
Literally one of the best rap songs ever, not even released.
I sit and think how this young man, under 20 years of age could pen something that exceeds the lyrical abilities of damn near anyone that has rapped since. Nas really is a talent above and beyond 99% of rappers that have ever lived. Remember this man, there wont ever be another like him.
This was recorded in 1995 so he was 21 or 22 depending on the month.
@@bolder2009 Nobody likes a smartass Bolder.
My favourite rapper all time. He helped me grew up as a man.
Me too
we will never here another rapper spit like Nas or any other 90s rapper

This is one of the greatest songs ever. Shame it doesn't get more recognition.
This beat, Nas' flow, it's timeless. It's a classic. This is obvious.
Real😇
This might be one of the greatest rap songs I ever heard.
too heavy for this century
95 I , I drive high zoning
the beat is chill and spooky , love it !
One of my fav rappers of all time, one of the greatest to ever touch the mic, NASTY NAS!!
