    The beauty of small things; I grew up in a dryish state in Australia where moss can be tricky to find and while now I travel to wetter places I’m still enchanted by moss and also sundews.

      Thanks mate! I spent three years in Australia and didn’t see much moss, come to think of it. Maybe on a trip to Queensland?? 🤔 I’m looking forward to going back in the fall. Subdew must be fun to photograph! 📷

    Are bells for bear country ?

    • @shaunkeenanphoto
      @shaunkeenanphoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s right. It’s recommended as a precaution here in Japan. I don’t know if they work, but I haven’t been eaten yet, so anecdotal evidence suggests they do. 😂

    Great video but the bells were very annoying

    • @shaunkeenanphoto
      @shaunkeenanphoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Kay! Although I need the bells as a deterrent for bears, I’ll try to make sure I limit the sound in future videos. I’ve come so accustomed to them, so I don’t really notice them when editing anymore.
      My wife totally agrees with you. 😂

    The fire moss photo was gorgeous! It'll be interesting to see what the area looks like in the fall

      I think it’ll be all in the timing, colorful leaves with still vibrant moss. I’ll definitely be heading back to find out. Many thanks!!

    Beautiful and calm video Shaun. Good on you waking up for sunrise just to be out, I haven’t gone out for a sunrise shoot in a while, maybe I should do that soon.
    Moss corridor was a cool spot! I should make a trip to Hokkaido and hit you up someday for a shoot 😁

      Mornings are tough, but I prefer them to sunset. No people and it feels so fresh and ripe with opportunity. You should definitely get out for a sunrise, even if you don’t shoot anything.
      Sure, man! Let me know if you ever make it to Hokkaido Thanks Keith!

    Very nice, my first time herr on the channel. Why the ringning bells you walk around with?

    • @shaunkeenanphoto
      @shaunkeenanphoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hokkaido has a brown bear that’s a smaller cousin of the grizzly bear. The bells are recommended as a way to announce yourself to any potential bears in the area and avoid an encounter. There’s been quite a few bear attacks in recent years. 🐻 I also carry bear spray on my hip just in case.
      Thanks for having a watch and dropping a comment!

    Beautiful images! Very well done! At least as I see it from afar, Japan looks very attractive, not just visually but also culturally. 🙂

      Thank you so much! There’s beauty all over the world, but I do find the culture and the landscape of Japan really resonates with me. I’m glad that beauty and appreciation I have can come across in my videos!

    Good location. If you could have taken shot with and without ND Filter, it would have been more instructional.

    • @shaunkeenanphoto
      @shaunkeenanphoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the tip Vimal! I used a polarizer and it wasn’t a dramatic difference since there wasn’t a lot of direct light, but the saturation was increased a bit.

      @@shaunkeenanphoto Thanks for replying. I always use a polarizer outdoors. Have bought a 6-stop ND filter but have never given it a try. Of course, the ND filter is a double polarizer.
      Yes, the pictures were excellent. Sometimes mother nature is very kind with beautiful landscapes.

      @@vimalneha Your 6stop filter is also a polarizer? once I started using ND filters, a lot of creative opportunities opened up for me, and I do use them often. I hope you get some great shots when you start testing it out!

      @@shaunkeenanphoto Yes, this summer I will visit the nearby places in Munich.
      ND Filter has two circular polarizers combined. Yes, as you say, I will try different combinations. Thanks for the good content.

      Many thanks!! 🙏 There is a brown bear in Hokkaido which is a slightly smaller cousin of the grizzly bear. The bells are meant to alert bears of your presence and hopefully scare them off. I also carry bear spray on my hip just in case. Every year there are attacks reported on the news. 🐻

    Peaceful morning walk through the forest Shaun. I can see how it can be quite meditative, especially with all that vibrant green. With little distractions, it's a great way to focus on the wonderful world of small things. Thanks for taking us on your walk! 👍🌱📸

      I’ve been to Tarumae Garo many times and did an episode there. Love that place too.
