I've been staying in Maggie Valley a few days and riding the BRP. I found that gated road you went up to stealth camp. Hope you're doing better. I'll catch up on your videos when I get home.
I have to admit I started laughing when I saw you approaching the gate and thinking you were locked in. Catch up with me sometime and I'll make you a master key. LOL Yes, one key fits all the gates in that area. Gonna cost you .76 for the blank though. LOL LOL
Love the shots going into the tunnels. Your camera captures total darkness, like riding into a black hole. Your mic was picking up some weird sounds while heading up to the peak. Gave me a real "Twilight Zone" vib as you rode to the top. Plus after seeing all the shorts and live streams, it's great to see the final product. Loved it.
I love these stealth camping videos. Each one is a practical stealth camping lesson. That never gets old. Also never getting old... the freedom coffee joke. I think I'm going to start making a Liberty Tea joke in my lame ass videos. There are multiple access gates that have a mechanism that allows each party to use their own key, which means that security is only as strong as the weakest link, and some cheap contractor inevitably uses a MasterLock that can be opened with a wave rake as quickly as using a key. Sad thing is I usually carry a lock pick kit on the bike, but not this time. Glad you are enjoying the stealth camping for dummies, by dummies series :) Now to go find Repo Man, not seen since the 80's? That should hold me over while waiting for the Liberty Tea?
Whoever or whatever closed the gate did you a favor for the night. Excellent camping spot. Please share the dimensions of the tarp used to cover your hammock, if it's ok with you? Good video. I've been a subscriber for a while. Your videos weren't showing up on my feed. The UT forces didn't unsubscribe me. Maybe now that I've watched a couple this year, I see more notifications of your videos. Take care.
Got locked behind a snow gate on the BRP back in 1990, exploring a FS road in VA. Started snowing so I came back to the BRP, drove north towards where my trailer was parked and... oh oh, locked gate across the BRP. I'll never confess how I got out, it had something to do with backing the hitch on my '83 4x4 Subdivision up to the post, a tow strap wrapped almost vertically to the base of the post and 4x4 Low Range. Imagination will help here.😊 After I got out, I replaced the post in the hole using the same method, only turning the truck around and pulling it the other way. You couldn't really tell what I had done except for the scraped places where the snow was missing. This was pre-cell phone for me, so when I got back to the campground where I was staying (for a job in Lynchburg), I called the NPS to to let them know they had trapped me inside the snow zone. The guy (ranger??) on the phone said oh my gosh we'll come let you out immediately, I told him don't bother I was already out. Then he went and got all official talking about destroying government property, so I just hung up. Gates! PITA Ride Safe👋
Locked gates are the bane of my existence. You scored with that unlocked gate.
Just a single bungee holding the orange bag down? Trying to figure out what is going to happen.

I will take your fee for the key and double it! Luckily, it was not my first time being locked behind a gate.

Don I would not have camped by those towers either!!!! But the view was great. Are you headed back to BRP after chicago?
plans are very vague right now, as I am not sure how long this job is gonna take to finish?
Glad the gate wasn’t locked 😂
