Thanks for the heads up about the battery issue. I am actually switching from my Sony a6400 to the Z50 mostly because of the menu. I have a Nikon P950 and I love the menu setup. So easy to use! Logical! Organized! Sony's menu system is horrendous. I dealt with it for years because I didn't think it was important enough to base your camera choice on, but then I got a Nikon and was enlightened. The Z50 also feels better than the a6400, better grip. Anyway, good luck with your choice. I won't make the change for a while, not until I can guarantee I can get extra batteries, and the 40mm compact lens comes out.
Thanks for the comment, the z50 is a great camera I really liked it and the menus are way easier to understand. I did get a phone call about a spare battery about an month after I swapped cameras so maybe the issue with supply is being addressed now. The battery issue isnt as big a deal for the photography side of things as it is when shooting video but it just made what I use it for so much more difficult.
Had to decide what camera should i buy, because ive got a Sony a5100 but i needed 4k Video and a more customizable camera. The BTC exploded and ive got a big pile of Cash... I tested different cameras for some days, the Sony a7 III R, Sony a6600, Sony a6400, Canon EOS R, Nikon Z6, Z7 and the Nikon Z50. I feel Most comfortable with the Z50 and for the pricepoint it is just legendary for 1100€ with the 16-50 and the 50-250 Kit Lenses. Clearly If i had more Sony Lenses before, Like by buddy, i would Pick Sony instead!
I love the feel of the z50 and enjoyed shooting with it , its just the battery issue for me is so frustrating . Ive been unable to source one for months which is why i swapped.
I shoot Sony. Between those two cameras, I'd pick Z50 every time TBH but you do make a fair point. The battery issue is very unfortunate and I hope Nikon fixes the supply issue soon.

Definitely prefer the feel of the Nikon and ease of use but that may just be because I’ve always had Nikon. They are both good cameras and I hope to get as comfortable with the Sony . There's no problem getting an extra battery for the Z50 here in the Philippines. I think we are literally over supplied.

Sony 6100 6400 and 6600 are much better choice because they have better lens asortiment. I use nikon D750 and I bought a6400 as my pocket camera.
