Here’s the real deal on this side hustle guys….The info presented here is technically correct. But my guess is that people are walking away with unrealistic expectations.
I know people who make money on Fine Art America which is another print-on-demand site like Printful.
The general consensus is you need a HUGE catalog of images. And they all need to have keyword researched and written titles and descriptions and tags in order to be found.
It seems that the realistic money goals go like this:
“Assuming that what you are creating appeals to enough people (gore art doesn’t sell consistently)AND assuming you have at least 1,000 pieces uploaded….and assuming that you have well written titles/descriptions/tags so your piece can be found…and assuming that your price point isn’t too low…
…you can expect to earn about $1 per month per uploaded image on average.”
So if you take the time to upload 1,000 images…and all the other qualifiers are in line…then you can hope to earn $1,000 per month on average.
This will not be evenly distributed. Christmas season is the big time for print sales. So you may earn 60% of your yearly income in Sept-November with all the other months bringing in much less.
So let’s say you want to earn $1,000 a month. Well that would require 1,000 keyword targeted uploads. So the question then is….
How much time would it realistically take to do that?
Well even if you use MidJourney to create the images…and develop a system that helps you come up with the ideas so you are not pissing away 30-minute blocks “thinking up new ideas”….AND you have a system that randomly assigns you an aspect ratios so you are making pieces in all the sizes people want to buy…AND you have a system that you use to have ChatGPT help you write the titles and descriptions and tags…
…AND assuming you are going at this all-in focused not on “quality”….but just generating something “good enough”….and getting it uploaded to the dang POD site….
The whole process is going to take 30 minutes. And that’s at the fastest. Probably the first 100 will take a full hour. And the first 10 will take way longer than that because you will be setting up your systems as you go so you can crank out desirable images at a faster rate down the line.
So between 30 and 60 minutes per upload. And this assumes ZERO time spent pushing to Instagram or Pinterest or any of the rest. If you add those in the “minutes per uploaded piece” thing goes way up.
    So let’s do the math….
1000 uploads at 1 hour each is 1000 hours of all-in work. At 30 minutes each it’s 500 hours of all-in work.
If you do the Instagram/Pinterest thing (which would probably be wise in the long run) then just plan for 1,000 hours for 1,000 uploads to earn an average of $1,000 per month.
    Now let’s break that down….
If you work on this side hustle 300 days a year…how long is this going to take to pull this off?
Well 1000/300 is 3.33. So you would need to upload 3 to 4 images…every day of the 300 days per year you worked this hustle. That’s not a small feat. 3 to 4 hours per day….for what basically will feel like “every day”. Even though you get to take 65 days off and still hit that 300 working day goal.
What if you want to be a hard charger and be like “I’m going to get to $3,000 in my first year. And then another $3,000 in years two and mother $3,000 in year three. Basically I want to be at $10,000 per month after 3.5 years of work.”
    Well….
    Just triple up the work.
So now you have to upload 10 per day. So between 5 and 10 hours of work….per day. Better hope you don’t have another job.
    Doing the same thing…
    Every day…
    For 3.5 years.
It’s going to be a grueling grind. That’s what anyone who really wants to pull this off should expect. They should expect to feel like they are checking themselves into the mines every day to seek that goal. A soul-crushing grind.
It can be done. But it will be as hard as doing anything else you could be doing to make money. And there will be nearly ZERO return in year #1 for all the hard work invested. You don’t get to expect to see $1,000 months until you have the “qualifying” number of images uploaded and keyworded. And that number is 1,000.
Sure…you’ll make sales with fewer. But it will be like gas money. I uploaded 35 images a few years back and then stopped. I had one sell. Twice. I earned about $250 between the two sales. Over the course of 5 years.
So do the math. $250 total revenue / 5 years means $25 per year / 35 total images uploaded = 71-cents per image per year.
And yeah. The 95/5 rule applies. 95 out of 100 of your total images will basically never sell. All your sales will come from 5 per 100. And you can never know what 5 those will be.
Anyway. That’s the real deal. I learned this from a guy doing over $5,000 per month on FAA. He said that until he had 1,000 images…there were nearly zero sales. Then at 1,000…they started trickling in consistently.
Once he had 3,000 images uploaded he was making $3,000 a month. At 5,000 he was making $5,000 a month. He was at 5,500 when we had this talk and that was 4 years ago. He puts up about 1,000 new pieces per year as a photographer.
So there you go. Some realistic expectations.

be real What TH-camrs Don't Tell You About AI Art:
1.Approval required: To sell on most major Print on Demand (POD) platforms, you need to be accepted as a seller or artist beforehand, which can take a significant amount of time depending on demand.
2.High competition: There is an immense amount of competition, and AI-generated art is not as profitable as it may seem, since the market is saturated and professional designers are earning their living in the same space.
3.Clickbait videos: TH-camrs who create videos with thumbnails displaying specific numbers like '$7748.39' are selling a dream and making money off your clicks.
4.Passive income potential: Cmon be real here, the market is saturated hope of selling anything, or else your pieces will be lost among the countless others.

adapt or die. When this gets oversaturated, you could offer personalised ai art. For example...you could add a super hero version of someone into a movie poster that they can hang on their wall. I'm literally thinking off the top of my head, and I'm already thinking of ways too beat the competition. There's always way, when you think outside the box.

I'm sure some grifters might fool some ppl into paying for this stuff early on, but as AI gets stronger and easier to use prices are gonna race to the bottom and customers will just do the prompting themselves since there is no real skill involved.... Also the AI output is without copyright, so there's nothing legally stopping ppl to screenshot any AI generated product they like, do a quick AI upscaling and either sell it or print it themselves.
AI is literally making art worthless and killing copyright, hope the techbros are happy making the world a bit more dystopic and sad

    • @LiamJamesKay
      @LiamJamesKay  ปีที่แล้ว +21

@@elinn1405 yes selling digital versions does not have longevity.
So the people who succeed with this are people who offer extra value and go the extra mile, while also utilising ai.
This is a simple video to introduce people to the possibilities.
Like I said above - for example you could create a super hero movie poster business. Where you can turn anyone into a super hero and add them to a printed movie poster. You could use A.I. for this but there’s a lot more steps - so the average joe would rather buy this than try to create themselves.
As for A.I. making art worthless. I don’t agree. Yes ai generated art may become less valuable but it could have the opposite effect to traditional art. Once the world is flooded with A.I. generated images, traditional oil paintings will go up in demand and value. So defo not making art worthless.

If you can make a video (I don't care if it's an hour long), that shows me exactly what you have to do and what you will pay out to get the license fees paid, how much of the sales revenue each of these companies keeps for themselves, I would be thrilled and willing to try what you call 'so easy!' Also, tell me and your viewers the real truth about what POD companies actually keep in % profit to do all these services to be able to make it so your customers can get their product, and again, I will be thrilled. I want you as a YT'er to actually tell the 'whole truth' step by step, but I don't think you will, because then it's not so easy right? If it's all really as easy as you make it seem, then I will darn sure try it. Show me please. Tell people the 'real truth' is all I am asking. There are a ton of videos like yours that do exactly what you are doing, and that is telling people its all so easy and it's really not because there is a lot involved just like this viewer asked you about having to buy a "standard license" to legally be able to sell any image. If you don't get this license then you are only setting yourself up for getting sued, right? Seriously, I challenge you to make a video that shows the 'real truth' like showing me on your screen the costs of trying to sell these images. Go for it, I'm ready!

It is not like hating restaurants because a chef doesn't devalue your worth as a human being nor does it devalue your cooking skill it just brings more respect toward the chef while in this case Ai art is a replacement, a middle finger toward the artists who have their art - the art that is a result of years of learning experiences stolen to train a soulless machine that provides them with no credit no respect, leaving making them worthless so yeah paying 10 dollars to create an art piece doesn't mean you own the work as anybody can create the same thing and good luck filing a copyright claim maybe then you understand the issues that you yourself partake in

But even now we have very creative methods and tools to use AI as a tool. What will happen is AI images will become an art, where cream rises to the top. What will happen is that basic images will just become ubiquitous and people will find them boring and worth far less. This has happened many times in tech in the past. Initially people are impressed but after the market saturation it’s no longer impressive. In terms of making money, not everyone can be artist so right now there’s a huge opportunity for people to use the initial value people still have with images that eventually they will perceive lower and lower in value

And midjourney is already a year as public. So think for yourself why videos like these started appearing now :) it's because it's the end of the milking period, when profits dried out (lowest margin on these images, is all you can hope for, to make a dollar or two above the printer service price plus shipping plus refunds plus other troubles)

They don't bring revolution, they bring destruction.
Look what they did to art community right now? What's on your mind? They didn't create art, you didn't either

@@LiamJamesKay can you make a video on all the cost that go into it like using sites like Etsy and the whole licensing deal Midjourney has. Im probably not going to get a response like most of these make money quick squemers.

@@jessicaheller3076 if you want a response it probably not best to jump to conclusions and take a dig at the end of your comment

AI art should not be used for monetary purposes. If it weren't for paid artists the AI would have had nothing to work off of.
Plus this AI art will become boring very soon without new works of human art to add variety.
KEEP SUPPORTING YOUR FAVORITE ARTISTS! Without them your ai art would be shit
