    You chose the right engine; I have been running the Kohler engine since 2002 on my Exmark Laser Z and have never had a problem with it!

    We have a 22' Maverick 54" deck with a Kawasaki 726. It has 3200 hydro which are commercial and serviceable. I am going to say the Maverick is entry level commercial. Your good

      The line between commercial and residential is fuzzy. Anything with 2800 hydros or higher can be serviced. Anything with a fabricated deck with thick steel and larger spindles can handle more use and abuse. Some go by weight, with most things labeled as commercial weigh over 1,000 pounds. Rups bar is usually present. Commercial grade air filtration system is standard, as are hydros that allow a minimum of 10mph. I've been mowing with a hustler raptor SD, 2800 hydros, kawi engine, fab deck...300h in 2 seasons and no major issues yet. I did add the commercial canister filter to my engine, as well as a diy chute lift pedal.

    The deck actually will lock in the up position. Look below the throttle and you’ll see a little handle. That’s the deck lock

    Despite rumors, the Kohler engines are every bit as good as any other as long as you maintain them. Like any engine, if you don't maintain them they can fail. I've been through three zero-turns with Kohler engines and never had any significant issue.

      correct my last kohler engine was sold at 926 hours in my last mower. Both the Kawasaki and the kohler has been awesome. the B&S now I have had problems.

    I have a raptor SD, 42". I have a small lawn care biz, about 23 lawns. I've been considering getting a maverick HD with the 42" deck. The only time I find my hustler a bit lacking is mid season when my bi-weekly lawns get to be 10-14" tall between cuts and I have to go slower and sometimes go back over areas for grass that got missed. But it's hard to say if a $9k maverick HD would do any better. I would like to have a grass blocker though. I put a pedal on my hustler to raise the flap...both for when I cut tall or wet grass and for going through gates but a blocker is good for not blowing grass into the road or into flower beds.

    If your Maverick has a 3100 hydro gear trans or larger it is considered a commercial engine . If it is 2800 or lower it is considered a resedential.

    I bought the maverick hd with the Honda motor. Paying for the best at first I believe will be worthwhile when alls said and done

      with me running a mowing business was just smarter for me to upgrade it. That way they still bring some money.

    Won’t spend $400 on a Japanese Kawasaki engine but hey, $230 for a metal plate and handle is the right move

      Really, Kawasaki is probably best engine on market and now Koehler is in cahoots with China.

    Hope it doesn't affect you but your chute cover is not flush with your deck. Thanks for the tutorial. Just got one yesterday.

    • @ky_chevy2824
      @ky_chevy2824  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think that little piece of metal Almaer is held it up but if I play with the handle it will eventually go flush against the deck. I don’t know if that thing is designed to keep it open a little bit to help let the grass out or what

    I bought the 54” mower. Same motor. I was told it is commercial. So what’s the difference in the hd?

    • @ky_chevy2824
      @ky_chevy2824  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The HD mower comes with a standard suspension seat 13 inch non-flat tires on the front and a new deck size of a 42 inch for a homeowner And it comes with a commercial style air filter standard, and they do have the 3400 transaxles instead of the 3200 transaxles like on the regular maverick.

      Yeah, this is my first color brand-new motor so I’m hoping it’ll last. My Hustler has a callus sake motor on it. It’s got over 500 hours on it. Haven’t had no issues out of it.
