    The Floormate is a hard surface scrubber. It is not designed to vacuum up food pieces. It is designed to scrub the floor and suck up the cleaning solution after scrubbing. If you have pieces of debris on the floor you must vacuum the floor first. Our Floormate is more than 10 years old and still working fine. The Crosswave has many many reported failures after only a few months use. Further, people attempting to contact Bissell report lousy customer support experiences.

    • @MsLovely1112
      @MsLovely1112  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My floormate was around 4 years old at the time. While I liked the floormate, it got the job done but like you said. ....You have to do 2 jobs vacuum then mop. With the crosswave you just do one thing. Saves on time. I've had my crosswave and been happy with it. I should do a year update. Feel free to make a video and post one

      YUP. I went through THREE of them. Right on que of 1 year, something would fault on it. First was it wouldn't turn on,, got a new one, then the sprayer stopped working, got a new one (warranty) and then the 3rd one wouldn't turn on after a year. It's ridiculous lol I want the new one but I'm not spending $500 for a years or less use.

    To be fair, I don't believe the video accurately depicts the Hoover. There are actually THREE setting notches on the Hoover. 1 notch is to FIRST vacuum larger debris the floor. 2 notch is to spray the water jets, scrub the floor and suck up dirty water. 3 notch is "Dry" function used to go back over the area again with and suck up additional water (without the rollers engaging) in attempt to further remove excess moisture from the floor. Did you see the operator switch modes? Which mode is she in, because the Hoover doesn't push hair around like that. How do I know? I have long hair, and had a long-haired Aussie with a thick undercoat (sadly, she passed away) and I never experienced pushing of hair as demonstrated in this video. It appears her notch is set in the "Dry" mode.
    I have a 2000 sq. ft. condo across two levels and I own TWO of this Floormate model to prevent having someone lug the Hoover up and down stairs while cleaning house (I'm disabled and the machine is too cumbersome for me to carry).
    I've since replaced all of my flooring to a lv plank and my only concern is that Hoover's spinning brushes will be too harsh for my new flooring. I was hoping to see the newer Li battery-powered Hoover pit against the newer Crosswave, so my mistake for clicking on this particular demo video. I just thought I'd point out the inaccurate depiction of the Hoover, because my experience with the floor cleaner is that the corded Hoover Floormate is a powerful machine ... when used correctly.

    • @MsLovely1112
      @MsLovely1112  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was in mode 2. You can see the brushes spinning.
      I guess the point is, why do the 3 modes when you can get it done all at once. 🤷‍♀️
      Feel free to buy all 3 and make your own video. 😀

      @LeighAnn_S 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MsLovely1112 That's quite alright... I already own two out of the three. I wasn't ragging on you, if you took it that way. I was merely pointing out that the first machine has those three modes that typically do a phenomenal job. Maybe you just got a dud.

    We walk in our small kitchen with linoleum floors and the dirt that we track in gets mixed with grease from cooking and really makes a difficult mess. I scrub with cleanser powder and a wet rag on my hands and knees. Will the Bissell provide enough scrubbing power for my needs?

  • @Roys3dShop
    @Roys3dShop 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review. Not many people have all 3 to compare. I've had Floormates for years and thought they were the best until now. Unfortunately, Floormates are short lived and replacement parts are hard to get after just a few years. I'm replacing my downstairs floormate with the Crosswave due to a $3 seal that Hoover no longer has available. I hope it will truly save time vacuuming and cleaning versus a 1 shot clean with the crosswave. We always had to vacuum 1st before running the floormates.

  • @merrygwolf4629
    @merrygwolf4629 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for doing side by side comparison. Awesome!. I own one of the first hoover floormates and the button that releases cleaning fluid stopped working and it started leaking from it's cup so I just started throwing some water mixed with my own solution or water and bleach and let it suck it up after I had swept. Very loud, pretty heavy and didn't hug the walls but it left the floor nice and me exhausted. The one that is stopping me from buying this is some reviewers claim that the solution button konks out after a couple of months. One guy that fixes appliances for a living took out the bearings and they were getting rotten because of retaining moisture. Aside from that, I would loooove one of these. Did yours breakdown after a short time?

    I am a diehard fan of Hoover products. I've been using Hoover sweepers for 30 years. I never thought that I would live to see the day when another brand would 'unmistakably' out-perform Hoover; especially a product from Bissell! But this test doesn't lie. The Bissell Crosswave DESTROYED the Hoover Floormate hands down!

    • @johnerikson7094

      Gary Watson Jr. well there is a brand out there that out performs Hoover vacuums day in and day out: Kirby. Although, I have a video on my channel where shockingly a 5 year old Kirby lost a shredded paper test to a 30+ year old Hoover Custom Convertible.

      The Hoover Company made all the Hoover products in the states until 2007 when they went out of business and eventually got sold to a Chinese company named TTI. Hoover has only existed in name for the past decade.

    Something to consider - one of those machines will need their brush to be cleaned after using it, and one wont. Also - pet owners - keep in mind that if you don’t vacuum up pet hair with a regular vacuum before using the hard floor cleaner - all that hair will be sucked up into either the collection tank with dirty water, or get stuck in a filter depending if the machines use one. Any dirty water thats filled with hair will now need to dumped down your choice of household drains. Probably not ideal. I always vacuum before using my Hoover floor mate. The manual (on my model) even says to do so. If you have a shedding dog in the house, or even cats - I wouldn’t suggest these being thought of as a vacuum replacement. The Hoover should have a height adjustment on it, to raise the squeegee off the floor so you CAN pick up debris instead of pushing it, if you needed to do so.

    *There should be an app called "things that work like their supposed to"🌼 **allabout.wiki/FloorMate** I had a Bissell bolt and it's internal battery failed. I did not know that it could not be replaced when I bought it. The Hoover out performs the Bissell in every way possible. Twice the suction, even picks up pine needles which the Bissell would just push around. The control switch from floor to carpet is controlled by your thumb and allows for immediate transition. This machine works!*

      It was a big purchase$249+tax. I loved my other product's but it was a hassle to have to use my shark rocket to vacuum, then use my sonic duo to mop (on hardwood floors.) If anything was wet, usually used a towel to pick up.
      On my tile my floormate worked good, (didnt dry instantly). I saw Crosswave thought I can get rid of 3 products and have 1 that does everything. Honestly it is amazing, does everything the infomercial shows. It drys quick, can go from tile to hardwood. I dont sweep. Just crosswave. I did they other day use my floormate, and i never notice how heavy it was compared to my crosswave to push. Im so use to my crosswave. Also one tank can do 1500sq ft.

      We have had our Floormate for more than 10 years and it is still going strong. But, as this video shows it does not and was never meant to vacuum up pices of food. It is a scrubber. And, it is designed to vacuum the wet scrubbed surface. You must vacuum the floor before using it.

      Renzile i actually used sonic duo on my hardwood floors after vacuuming with my shark rocket to mop. It did a good job to shine floors. Again it was a two step process. Having the crosswave i can go from my tile to hardwood floors, cuts cleaning time in half. Please feel free to buy all 3 and do your own video!

      Amy's Mom Life well I mean I didn't mention the bissel 😂 I mean the price for the bissel is right round 160 ATM. I love the cross wave, I own it and does a fantastic job. I don't disagree, the bissel does a amazing job. Does cut the time in half. Just the sonic duo doesn't qualify for messes like these

      It would be like doing a tow/haul test with a Dodge 3500 diesel a Chevy 3500 diesel and a smart car then knocking the smart car for not towing enough even though that's not what it's designed to do. You're texting two cabins and a scrubber. That's what he means

      Shelby Eason that's all good and well. But it's not clean. Your putting the mop in the bucket with dirty water then putting that dirty water over the floor. Doesn't matter how hard you ring it out you will still be using dirty water. The bissell and the crosswave use a constant stream of clean water so there is only clean water going on the floor and the dirty water is sucked into a recovery tank so the dirty and clean don't mix. Even using a steam cleaner is not that good as the pad on the end gets dirty then you end up just moving the dirt around the floor from the pad

    The floormate dial should have been turned to vacuum first to pick up the larger debris then turned to wash. The crosswave smudged the stain and wiped it back on the floor a few times the floormate does a better job. Cleans better dries better and actually when you calculate the time on each item the floormate was quicker. I’d pick the floormate any day over the bissell.

    Any of the Hoover Floormate models are trash no matter which one you buy. I highly advise buying a Bissell Crosswave as it works 10x better than the Hoover. I'm sure they are both made in China but Bissell is still American owned and their quality control is much much more rigorous than the chinese-owned Hoover.

      I think this is a better alternative as it's clean water on a dirty floor vs semi or dirty water with a dirty mop. Also this is great for the spill or mess. With as fast as it dries it can become a routine habit after all meals.

    • @BeeKayPopn1

      Anna Banana I feel like that's a bold faced lie! I have hardwoods and hate cleaning them... u have to sweep, then dust mop, THEN mop... which actually requires u 2 fill the bucket at least twice due to filthy water... I could've cleaned 2 small rooms in the time it takes to fill the bucket alone 😂😂

    DO NOT buy bissell crosswave. Or if you really need to, buy used with valid guarantee. I own 4 now and only one works for now. They are definitely designed to fail, accessories are overpriced. I have lots of dogs inside and they do leave the trace of hair, dirt, occasional piss puddles and saliva, so i'm sort of dependent on these machines that when they work, they do well. But they just brake all the time, despite changing filters and brushes often and using their overprices formula. So i ended up buying four over time to have at least one running which is ridiculous. Power cutting out if it feels any kind resistance in an air flow through filter, not powering on if it senses any humidity, brush wheel gets stuck and makes motor overheat. Avoid them.

    • @MsLovely1112
      @MsLovely1112  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crosswave does have a 2 year warranty to orginal owner with proof of purchase. ( i think pet pro has 3 years)
      I've had my crosswave for over 3 years and still love it. I have two dogs that shed like crazy. I have very long hair and the crosswave always does a great job cleaning it.
      I will say my hair does get tangled in the brush roll and the have to cut it off. (Only complaint)
      If my dogs did have an accident, I would clean the crosswave after mopping and making sure the filter, and brush roll wouldn't stink later.
      I would call bissell and let them know your issue. If you have an excessive amount of hair you may have to swifer or sweep prior. (I never do sweep prior and my dogs shed a lot and my hair.)
      I'm not sponsored i bought it with my own money.

      @@MsLovely1112 glad your experience is positive with them. I would hold myself against speaking out negatively since i do appreciate their functionality (when they work) if it wasn't a fourth unit and multiple visits to service centers. I'm not expecting them to deal with layers of dog hair which i usually vacuum first, but perhaps it's just a consumer level equipment that was not designed for such abuse. Can you recommend anything more robust for hard floor cleaning that work in a similar fashion as bissell crosswave?

    I have both and the cross wave is an unreliable piece of junk. Motor burned out in 6 months. Always left streaks on my floor, and didn’t scrub as good as my floor mate. The only pro to the cross wave is that it can pick up large debris. Other than that it pales in comparison to a 6 year old floor mate that is still going strong and less than half the price. DO NOT BUY A CROSSWAVE!!!

    • @MsLovely1112
      @MsLovely1112  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've had mine for 5 months, it still working good, did you use cleaner that came with? I did notice when i tried an off brand cleaner it didnt clean as well, leaving streaks. I do think the floormate is good at tile. I only have 10% tile, rest hardwood floors. The crosswave has a 2 year warranty, I would call Bissell, get it repaired. I wouldn't leave it be 250 is a good chunk of change!

    You do realize with the Hoover it’s not ducking up the hair and other items because it has a nozzle to turn for a reason. You see the button that says wash, dry and vacuum? Well common sense should tell you that it’s not going to do all 3 of them without turning the nozzle to the specific thing you want it to do. Don’t do a review and comparison without knowing how to use them all!
