I wouldn't recommend doing a rebuild of the database on the 5 mainly because ssd's don't really need to be "defragged" the same way hdd's need to. Most tech experts do not recommend doing that because it adds on to write limit of the ssd and you're just furthering the drive to its limit. 1) clean controller with antiseptic wipe and toothpick 2) removing face plates and cleaning both sides with dust, cleaning fan also 3) rebuild system database
I've only used my ps5 once but the side of the disk that enters the disk slot still requires some getting used to since it's always by the disk image side facing up instead of down and you'd think that by the disk drive still being placed on the leftside of the console that it disk position would remain the same but that's not the case 🤨). As always, thanks for the helpful tips.
@@azuretriedgemonaz3837 hahaha that would be embarrassing. I did the same but thankfully my system's disk drive wasn't defective so I could take out my disk and try again. 😏
I never did anything to my ps1 and ps2 and they still work 1st generation too. my ps3 still works and so does my ps4 I didn't do any maintenance on them. I think if you take good care of them and the surrounding area they will last forever. I played them for 10-20 years 12 hours a day every day too.
you forget also to mention that you need to charge the controller better with a seperate battery compartment when you are NOT using the ps5 so you can game a good session without loading it.
another good tip...always clean the living space where you have your PS5. thats where your dust comes from, especially if its a very dirty room or poorly maintained
Don't forget to rinse your PS5 off in warm, soapy water. Simply fill a bathtub with the hottest water you can get from the tap, put in about a tablespoon of dish soap, and fully submerge the PS5 (and, optionally, controllers). Let it sit for about 5 minutes, then move it back and forth under the water to dislodge any dirt. Then, drain the tub and let it fully dry before use
I wipe down my controller with a microfiber and some iso alcohol once every week or 2. Takes a 2 or 3 minutes. Sticks, buttons, the groove under the sticks, pad. Its so nice, cause when I goto play it next time, man the controller feels like brand spanking new again. I actually wipe down my astro headset too. Gentle on the leather or whatever it is ear cushions and head band, but again, it feels freash and clean when I wear them again. Just some simple up keep. Takes 10 mins or so, but I like that clean feeling Gotta do the data rebuild still.
From what I understand rebuild database is similar to a defrag, so I'm not sure if Rebuild Database is needed/should be done as the PS5 as it uses an SSD.
Can you do a review on the vertical and horizontal placement of the PS5???? I heard there’s some rumors going on that setting the PS5 Vertical can damage your console!
That whole thing is BS and they retracted some of what they initially said. Either way, it's a super small sample size without any context of use prior to the repair shop. There is no problem.
I got mine the other day and it’s great but today I accidentally I inserted the disc the wrong way cause my mind blanked I hope it didn’t damage it but it’s working fine and I’m loving it 👍
@@Factsnotemotionssuggest you watch one of the videos that tronicfix did regarding this. Horizontal is better. Gravity influences liquid. Liquid Metal is… liquid. Ergo, liquid laying on a flat surface is better than a vertical surface.
Also, when you are using a vacuum, you should mention that vacuums can cause static electricity that can damage the PS5. Instead, use compressed air to blow and move the dust out and around.
Do not use a vacuum cleaner to clear the dust from any electronics. It could build but static electricity and cause discharge. Use compressed air instead.
This is an awesome video. Thank you for all the updates and help. I do have a PS5 controller question if you're able to help. My left joystick rubber covering has loosened from its glued state. Are there different covers and or different joysticks that I could replace this with? I didn't know this would happen and I've never seen any videos about this, but knowing that these joysticks are not the same as the PS4 solid plastic joysticks I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Thank you.
I don't have a PS5 but everyone should clean their gaming setups, I recommend every 6 months. From this of taking your key caps off, to cleaning your display. The amount of loss you get from dust and debris can shock some people, especially on the air intakes
Even as someone who hasn't touched a console in 7 years, I can't recommend cleaning your console regularly enough. Dust is easily of the most common reason for a console to lose performance due to thermal throttling or outright killing the device from overheating. It's like a car, you have to check the oil and water regularly if you want it to last and perform well.
I have always kept some of those green plastic toothpick/flossing things in a little basket under my coffee table and a microfiber towel, and scrape out those grooves and wipe down the shell and joysticks during any long loading screens. I've never had a controller on any console get gross or even show residue or built-up gunk, you gotta take care if your stuff and it'll last longer. My two XBox One controllers are both from 2013 and could pass for almost brand new and work perfectly after thousands of hours. I also wipe my car dash and console at stoplights so I may be a bit compulsive with keeping things clean, but that's never been a bad thing in my personal opinion.
btw only if you're comfortable doing this the black faceplate on the controller thats hides the screws is removable it's really easy to do with your finger nails don't force anything just be gentle and it will come off and you can really clean that groove much easier when its not on the controller
I've had consoles for years, including an xbox 360, and have had no issues with them despite never opening them and checking for dust. Besides that, PS5's have SSD's, which don't need to be rebuilt or defragged. It's more likely that rebuilding periodically for no reason is making your SSD's lifespan shorter.
@@coldnightmare199 I wish that was the case so I'd have only myself to blame! 😅 First two DualSense controllers I have had really bad stick drift after a couple of months of regular usage. The one my PS5 came with also started having trigger issues as well 😔
I opened my faceplate one side because there's dust inside after I bought PS5 a month. After sliding the plate carefully as I watched your previous video, there's scratches and only three of them. One scratch is visible. And yeah, its my first time owning a PS5.
I cleaned mine after 3 years and the fan and it wasn't dirty at all, just a little bit of dust. Also, my controllers are cleaned regurally. Clean boy with a clean room here 🙋♂️
If anyone still uses their PS4, I’d recommend opening it up to clean the heat sink. There was a lot of dust in my PS4 slim and dust in the fan. It’s not that difficult to open besides if you have the model with the plastic wields instead of screws like mine does.
yo i have a question, can you do this for me and give me an answer? go into your settings page on your ps5 and closely look at the grey beams in the background of the page do you see any film grain? please let me know because it’s slowly driving me insane
Buy game gloves to stop the hand oil on controller. Game gloves also keep the controller cooler and you don't get hand sweat going which causes controller slip.
It’s clickbait. All of it. Ps5 has been out for over 2 years and all of a sudden it’s a problem? Look at all the articles. They all came out on the exact same day. It’s bs.
Only complaint is that he used a vacuum to remove the dust. DO NOT DO THIS. Vacuums can create a ton of static, which is why you see many people use compressed air canisters to clean electronics if they don't just literally wash it, which is safe as long as no electricity is flowing through that component.
1-do not ever use alcohol on plastic, especially some parts of controllers 2-do not use a vacuum on delicate electronics as it can create static 3-SSDs do not need to be defragged do not do any of these things unless you are 100% sure you know what you're doing

Same thing here. 3 cats, near floor level inside a large TV stand, no dust when I upgraded my SSD after about 6 months
Those 3 walking static dust collectors work wonders for your ps5.
Clear Cache And Rebuild Database Does Delete Save Games Dataes Or Deleteing A Installed Games ?
Thanks John, subbed for a while now, knowing that eventually I'd be a PS5 owner....scored one for Christmas so putting all your tips and tricks to good use, thanks again👍🍻
yo i have a question, can you do this for me and give me an answer? go into your settings page on your ps5 and closely look at the grey beams in the background of the page do you see any film grain? please let me know because it’s slowly driving me insane
1) clean controller with antiseptic wipe and toothpick
2) removing face plates and cleaning both sides with dust, cleaning fan also
3) rebuild system database
hey man! if you go to your ps5 setting screen do you notice any film grain if you look very closely that is in the background?
@@n3onrossclipped nope. all im aware of is the film grain settings in games.
Lol i put my disk backwards and thought i had a f up ps5 i went to return it and i was so embarrassed when they told me how to put the disk 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
It’s what’s been artwork upside in horizontal position..
@@azuretriedgemonaz3837 I have mine upright, never had an issue putting in disk
it's definitely a upside down system, not symmetrical at all
@@azuretriedgemonaz3837 hahaha that would be embarrassing.
Did all this and now my ps5 no longer works. 10/10 video :)
you forget also to mention that you need to charge the controller better with a seperate battery compartment when you are NOT using the ps5 so you can game a good session without loading it.
Did my PS5 cleaning thanks to your video a couple months ago! Any thoughts on the report that came out that we shouldn't stand our PS5 vertical?
Never have to clean my controllers because they never last long enough to need them cleaned 🤷♂️
Thank you so much for sharing this message!🎉🎉🎉🎉
another good tip...always clean the living space where you have your PS5. thats where your dust comes from, especially if its a very dirty room or poorly maintained
Only thing I may take from this list maybe to open the side plating clean inside the no other console I've ever owned had a problem with dust build up
What the hill do you say at the end of each video ?
I wipe down my controller with a microfiber and some iso alcohol once every week or 2. Takes a 2 or 3 minutes. Sticks, buttons, the groove under the sticks, pad. Its so nice, cause when I goto play it next time, man the controller feels like brand spanking new again.
I actually wipe down my astro headset too. Gentle on the leather or whatever it is ear cushions and head band, but again, it feels freash and clean when I wear them again.
Just some simple up keep. Takes 10 mins or so, but I like that clean feeling
Gotta do the data rebuild still.
I'm gonna finally get a ps5 😃
If you do, don’t store your ps5 upright. You’ll end up permanently messing up the cooling.
The best PlayStation tutorial Video Channel online.
From what I understand rebuild database is similar to a defrag, so I'm not sure if Rebuild Database is needed/should be done as the PS5 as it uses an SSD.
Lol scam
Can you do a review on the vertical and horizontal placement of the PS5???? I heard there’s some rumors going on that setting the PS5 Vertical can damage your console!
That whole thing is BS and they retracted some of what they initially said. Either way, it's a super small sample size without any context of use prior to the repair shop. There is no problem.
I got mine the other day and it’s great but today I accidentally I inserted the disc the wrong way cause my mind blanked I hope it didn’t damage it but it’s working fine and I’m loving it 👍
Its fine as long as you get it out
I would also recommend to keep the ps5 in the horizontal position permanently to prevent possible liquid metal leakage.
The website that made the claim retracted their statement said they made a mistake
@@Factsnotemotionssuggest you watch one of the videos that tronicfix did regarding this. Horizontal is better. Gravity influences liquid. Liquid Metal is… liquid.
Ergo, liquid laying on a flat surface is better than a vertical surface.
Always great videos from this man 😁 thanks alot
Also, when you are using a vacuum, you should mention that vacuums can cause static electricity that can damage the PS5. Instead, use compressed air to blow and move the dust out and around.
Wow … thx for the tips … I just started to follow your channel … the content it’s awesome 👌🏼
hey man! if you go to your ps5 setting screen do you notice any film grain if you look very closely that is in the background?
I live in Australia I don't have a ps5 but I'm going to pay it on lay-by.
Thanks bro
Do not use a vacuum cleaner to clear the dust from any electronics. It could build but static electricity and cause discharge. Use compressed air instead.
Luckily I got my ps5 before christmas and now I can watch these videos 🎉
Rebuilding database will make you redownload patches for some games. Should have mention that.
Nice as always 👍
Great video man .lol I'm scared to check under my ps5 panels
This is an awesome video. Thank you for all the updates and help. I do have a PS5 controller question if you're able to help. My left joystick rubber covering has loosened from its glued state. Are there different covers and or different joysticks that I could replace this with? I didn't know this would happen and I've never seen any videos about this, but knowing that these joysticks are not the same as the PS4 solid plastic joysticks I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Thank you.

Kontrol freaks
@@n3onrossclipped what the hell are you talking about? Did you comment on the wrong thread
I don't have a PS5 but everyone should clean their gaming setups, I recommend every 6 months. From this of taking your key caps off, to cleaning your display. The amount of loss you get from dust and debris can shock some people, especially on the air intakes
Really helpful video as always 👌🏽
Yes these videos are very good for the dumbest idiots on Earth.
Step one... get a ps5
Had mine since Easter 2022. I'll do this as I've been hitting MW2 DMZ pretty hard lately!
hey man! if you go to your ps5 setting screen do you notice any film grain if you look very closely that is in the background?
btw only if you're comfortable doing this the black faceplate on the controller thats hides the screws is removable it's really easy to do with your finger nails don't force anything just be gentle and it will come off and you can really clean that groove much easier when its not on the controller
I do not recommend cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner, but with compressed air.
Had my PS5 since launch and can say I haven't had a controller last me one year yet 😅. Cleaning the dust from the console is a must for sure.
you must be throwing your shit around bcuz mine still works like the day I got it
@@coldnightmare199 I wish that was the case so I'd have only myself to blame!
Thanks was really scared at first but it helped clean my PlayStation 🎊
I cleaned mine after 3 years and the fan and it wasn't dirty at all, just a little bit of dust. Also, my controllers are cleaned regurally. Clean boy with a clean room here 🙋♂️
If anyone still uses their PS4, I’d recommend opening it up to clean the heat sink. There was a lot of dust in my PS4 slim and dust in the fan. It’s not that difficult to open besides if you have the model with the plastic wields instead of screws like mine does.
Just got my ps5 4 days ago and I'm definitely gonna make sure I do this.
yo i have a question, can you do this for me and give me an answer? go into your settings page on your ps5 and closely look at the grey beams in the background of the page do you see any film grain? please let me know because it’s slowly driving me insane
My controllers were no where NEAR that dirty. Holy SHIT! (Still cleaned them anyway)
I clean my controller everyday, just with some basic alcohol & paper towel, plus I always wash my hands before playing 😄
Best way to keep it prestige is to wash hands thoroughly with soap before playing to avail getting it greasy in the first place. Huge game changer
Buy game gloves to stop the hand oil on controller. Game gloves also keep the controller cooler and you don't get hand sweat going which causes controller slip.
Don't forget, don't use standing... alot of liquid metal leakage has come up recently
hey man! if you go to your ps5 setting screen do you notice any film grain if you look very closely that is in the background?
It’s clickbait. All of it. Ps5 has been out for over 2 years and all of a sudden it’s a problem? Look at all the articles. They all came out on the exact same day. It’s bs.
@@ababafgatg lol its been months now
@@Richard-vn7ki what’s been months?
just a tip: Wash your hands before using your keyboard/controller.
Saves a lot of cleaning time.
Vacuums can hold static electricity.
Never use a vacuum to clean electronics.
Don't vacuum your hardware. The static electricity generated by the vacuuming can ruin the motherboard.
I wouldn't use a hover either due to the static it could cause. I rather just use compressed air
Took your advice and cleaned up my wife's PS5 along with mine. Thanks bro
I've only had my ps5 since 23th December 2022 so I think I'm good for now.
I didn't know this, had for a couple years & didn't do this. Videos are good and Informative. Thanks 😊
Only complaint is that he used a vacuum to remove the dust. DO NOT DO THIS. Vacuums can create a ton of static, which is why you see many people use compressed air canisters to clean electronics if they don't just literally wash it, which is safe as long as no electricity is flowing through that component.
1-do not ever use alcohol on plastic, especially some parts of controllers
2-do not use a vacuum on delicate electronics as it can create static
3-SSDs do not need to be defragged
do not do any of these things unless you are 100% sure you know what you're doing
instead of the toothpick i can ABSOLUTELY recommend a toothbrush, it doesnt damage the plastic and cleans it very good
