Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎

I had a couple of close encounters with humpback whales off the central coast of California... they would approach my stand-up paddle board .. I squealed like Kara but I was too busy gripping my SUP for dear life to reach out and touch one!

100% truth. So glad I'm not the only mom out here who fully appreciates this channel. Kara and Nate are the only unsupervised YT channel we allow in our house! Kids love watching "re-runs" as far back as 2016! We love their appreciation for cultures, willingness for adventure and their joy and grateful attitudes.

I really love the interaction with beach vendors. You’re so right that the $10 means way more to him than you. We visited Mexico shortly after tourism opened back up after the virus. Our driver was telling us how hard it had been on his community without tourism. Everyone worked so hard to make our trip special. Tipping well and buying from local vendors was the least we could do.
The love and friendship that you two have is so magnetic and contagious. I was initially drawn to your channel because of your chemistry together. It seems to get sweeter as the years go by, too. Thanks for all you guys do and for bringing me along! Happy birthday Nate!

I remember each and every video you guys showed! It was such a struggle for Nate, back then, to spend money on anything that wasn't a necessity. But it was understandable, as they had a very tight budget to work with so they could continue to travel. He sure has come a long way, and I'm proud of him! Knowing the money meant more to that vendor than to them. ❤️

I’ve been traveling the southern U.S. with my own pup and filming our adventures but the wildlife we have encountered the most has been free grazing cattle lol
