    There are a few great bass tracks on masamis rice music, very mick karn like. Would love for you to work out a few like ‘night in the park’

    Excellent job one again. You really do break it down and demo that it’s not half as complicated as the bass line sounds.
    I could never figure out how the great maestro developed lines like this but your smear verb and overall explanation help enormously.
    How does Mike develop these lines, is it based on the vocal arrangement to develop the main keys. It seems like he smears the high octave then the root, uses lots of open strings and then octave slides - aka Halloween.

      I’m his book he said that he would find the rhythm of the part first on his right hand
      Then he’d find appropriate notes - often not so appropriate - to fit.
      It does make sense to me when he explains it like that
      He’s often adding a sort of vocal line, too. Just like in halloween

      @@mindhead2005 thank you for the reply. Btw, what is the fret you land on the G string? I don’t have a fretless any longer but try to get the smear as best as possible but I’m not hearing the same pitch as your getting on the first section of A and then the E section.
      Thanks again for sharing your work and time here. Not many do that!

      @@stephenbanga3254 what time stamp?
      I think it’s the 9th fret on the G?

    • @stephenbanga3254
      @stephenbanga3254 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mindhead2005 I meant the slide up from the 9th on G to make the squeal beyond the 12th.

      @@stephenbanga3254 oh over the E part?
      It can be anything above the 12 th at all
      Sometimes he goes up, sometimes down, sometimes he even plays double stops.
      Listen to live recordings and they’re all different
      He’s just making a sound as opposed to hitting a note
