Thank you so much for your Mick Karn bass lessons. Got my first fretless a few months ago and I’m keen to learn . I remember Mick from when I was a school boy and I’m as blow away now as I was back then. Suggestion: Dalis Car. Again thank you!
Amazing work, a lot of work and patience involved. You’re a great talent and you made me fall in love with Mick Karn all over again. If ever one day you can do Canton it would be amazing and I’m sure you would do it wonderfully! Already subscribed :-)
Another great breakdown Mick. I'd tie myself in knots trying to explain this one to someone, lol. As I mentioned to you the other week, the first track i tried to learn when I was 15 was Rhodesia. I'd love to see you smash it ;)
What a brilliant and fun tutorial! Love this album. I've been subscribed for a while and enjoy your videos. I've kinda got 85% of it nailed, just trying to get the chorus. You do explain things so well. Mick Karn is such an underrated musician and so distinctive in his sound. Talking of requests, maybe something off Karn's "Titles" album to learn. Tribal Dawn perhaps??
Do you think you could try to make a lesson for "Heads We're Dancing" by Kate Bush? (Mick on bass) It seems complicated to figure out, but I think it is rather quiet/ not very bold or daring with slides and such (I don't really know how to explain it), until this one part that repeats itself throughout the songs just a few times.
Great - enjoyed it and a little different to what I was playing but love the tuition. Can you tackle “Second that Emotion”’as that was a great bass line too as well “All Tomorrow Parties” ?
I've just got to the bit where you ask for requests. Mine would be Talking Drum. Someone's put up a playalong video on TH-cam, but I find it hard to follow exactly what he's doing. Thanks!
I just realized I put my last comment in as a reply to another comment 🤔 ... So I've watch this one a few times now. I'm dying to have a go at the weekend... Thanks again for these... Unfortunately (for you) pretty much every Japan track has an amazing bass line so I can see the requests coming thick and fast... So I'm just going to make one more for Ain't That Peculiar... I know it's a cover but the bass line is brilliantly all over the place in true Mick Karn fashion... I'm not sure there are any live recordings or videos?
Thanks so much for this video. You mention BestPractice. I tried to install it on two different Windows 10 machines and it wouldn't start except in Windows XP or Windows 98 emulation mode, but there it wanted administrator privileges, which it shouldn't have. If you have another suggestion for software that will do the same job as simply, that would be a great help. I can't find anything that will do it for free. I'll happily pay for something if it works well and isn't outrageously pricey.
@@mindhead2005 The only time stretch function I could find in Audacity was a fully variable one that can do some sophisticated stuff, but takes ages to render. I guess I'll just have to use my DAW. The DAW project I use for music practice gets cluttered with other stuff because of the way I work, which is why I was hoping to keep the variable speed playback separate.

Tribal Dawn sounds like a plan! Great bassline!

The bass isn’t very clear in it, last I listened to it
It’s very buried.
I must see if there’s a 12 inch mix or a remix or something

Great tune
I’ll take a listen
I spotted at least one error in the transcription: 2nd measure was not played (by Mick) with a staccato open D but a staccato open G.
Nice catch.
Great job of teaching a fairly complex player's style Mind!
