New study shows Jacksonville 8 degrees hotter than most of the planet

A new study by Climate Central, which tracks what’s called the Urban Heat Index, has identified several densely populated urban areas around Duval County that are hotter than other spots on Earth.

What work is being done? Saying that considerable work is being done isn't enough. I live in this area and I don't see anything being done to add parks and plants to our area. In fact I see the opposite. They just added more concrete to the sides of roads to keep from having to mow the grass.

I though most of June was rather cool as compared to previous years. I enjoyed my pool 3-5 hours per day and in the first couple weeks of June we had a nice sea breeze each afternoon - well into the evening. Even now it is nice late in the evening in and around the pool. It is - Florida in July and it is supposed to be "Hot"~! Shalom

That’s when the air temperature is only 95 degrees it’s probably more like 180 when it’s 100 degrees air temperature outside

Have they looked at all the CONCRETE that is in this damn city?? Start there.

Because we have all these surface parking lots all the private garages are empty still all concrete downtown look at downtown it’s mostly parking lots

Buy more electric cars to help combat globle warming? What I see is a lot of empty parking lots outside of retail centers that don't have any trees. Maybe adding green space to parking lots could be a small start. Plant more trees that make a difference not palm trees.
